Not exactly the big achielles but It's one of the keys to beating Froch.
How exactly will he sneak a shot through when he's being pummeled by so many fast handed shots?
Sven never exactly dominated Mitchell did he. If Joe's not no where near undisputed status then neither was Sven. Joe's got more championship years than Kessler and Berrio though so he can be argued to be the man. He's definitely the best.
Joe and Taylor are In different division, Taylor by luck fought someone who already held all the titles. Joe's In super middleweight where no one has held more than 2.
Feel and being around the block doesn't prove him any better than Manfredo.
How exactly can you say he was never a super middle other than when the excuse that he used to be a light middle? He could of dehydrated for light middle. Hatton's really a middleweight In reality since he goes Into the ring fighting as heavy as a Middle.
Where Is the sources to the possiblity of ITV pulling the plug? The only source I've seen Is someone typing an article from the guardian but the article was not on the guardians website.

He'll be willing to take 2 or 3 pitter-patter karate-chop-slaps to land one BIG mutherfcuking venomous sledgehammering right uppercut

"Taylor by luck fought someone who already held all the titles. Joe's In super middleweight where no one has held more than 2. "
That's a ridiculous statement! By luck he got in with the p4p best and beat him twice, then outboxed Wright (I had him winning by 2) and battered Ouma, who's no mug but too small for Jermain?
JT is a BIG middleweight, he'd have no problem at all stepping up to SM and fighting JC. That said, I think Calzaghe would box his head off and win by 3/4.
Taylor's no mug.....

it took him 11 rds to get to magee ffs.

Let me have a rethink, I might have predicted this one wrong hmmmm........ Yes I have FROCH KO9
Froch is the only person to stop Magee and what a KO it was..
BOOM, if the same punch catches Joe its gameover IMO
I'm not going to spend anymore of my time debating this fight, because it ain't happening. Joe will either get in with the very BIG named fighters (Wright, Taylor, Hopkins, Kessler???) for BIG bucks, where if he loses he'll be saying I lost to the very best the World has to offer or he'll continue fighting muppets who pose no risk whatsoever. Carl is inbetween, he poses a massive risk (rethink - Froch KO8
![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
), but when JC loses it will tarnish his record.
Calzaghe has no balls!! else he would have already fought Carl instead of Bika, Manfredo or Ashira. I've never come close to supporting a foreigner over a Brit, but Joe is seriously starting to push it - he's what is officially known as a KANT
Eubank gave JC the young pretender at the time a shot at his title, its a pity he won't do Carl the same favour.
Good point there Chambers.
I think the Taylor vs Spinks fight will be interesting regarding Taylor's future. For me he is very lucky to be world champ, not only the Hopkins results but especially the Winky Wright one - and he flattered to decieve vs Ouma.
I think Taylor needs an impressive performance vs Spinks... Otherwise he could end up a bit like Tarver, a poor champion whose only got the gold cause his opponents are the wrong side of 35.

For me the Jury is still out on Taylor. Hopkins, as good as he is, was on the wrong side of 40, and both fights were very close.
Taylor needs some convincing wins, the Ouma fight was an horrific performance.
Spinks is a blown up Welterweight with good skills, Taylor really needs to dominate him to stamp his authority as a dominant champ.

Will people be blown away by Taylor with a stoppage win over Spinks though? I certainly won't. If Taylor is a true P4P'r he should be able to beat up Spinks from range and if we see any of that power that Lampley keeps on mentioning then good night Spinks. The size and weight difference come fight time is going to be ridiculous.

If Taylor can dominate Spinks and then KO him it might be quite impressive. No, I won't be still completely sold on him - but on paper I would have given Spinks a better chance than Kassim Ouma to beat Taylor. Spinks is a better technician, a better boxer and both were much smaller men.... But Ouma gave him all kinds of problems, problems I didn't expect to happen.
Not sure if Taylor will have the reach advantage.... Boxrec doesn't give Taylor's reach but I know Cory is like an orangutan.

Don't know why Boxrec don't list the reach of one of the best boxers in the world. HBO listed his reach as 78'' for the Winky fight so there should be a noticeable difference.
Agree Spinks is the better boxer compared with Ouma and Taylor hasn't been lighting the world on fire recently. I can see Spinks on his bike for most of the fight, giving Taylor the distance to get off those big shots unlike Ouma did as he got inside and backed Taylor up but did get banged up abit, never thought Ouma's chin (or atleast his toughness) was all that great until that night. So for Taylor-Spinks I'm expecting a late stoppage.

no he didn't.
eubank was a late sub for steve collins.
collins was the champ and had been since he took it off eubank 2 and a half years previous.
i'd like to see calzaghe-froch.
but warren is useless.

I don't think Magee troubled Froch massively. Froch loses rounds yet mostly looks in control of how, when and why he will lose a round.
Froch's biggest problem is that he is susceptible to getting hit and when he does get hit it is often straight down the middle and right on the kisser. There have been a few fights where his head has been bounced back.
Will Calzaghe beat him? Yes. Will Calzaghe KO him? Calzaghe has not properly KO'd anyone for years, they've brought over middleweights for him to knock over and he has not done it so they finally got him a light-middle (a fairly shit one at that despite, or evidenced by, his reality TV loss) to knock over and he finished the fight trying to karate chop him on the back of the head until the ref prematurely stopped in. Plus he broke his hand doing that and was advised to retire.
Joe throws a lot of shots, he has speedy hands and good movement but how often does he catch a guy right on the chin? He is not very accurate.
Joe can tell the TV crew "He won't be able to take the power!" but all it does is place unrealistic expectations on him. ITV, and Joe, built him up as a puncher and when he fails to show this it makes him look bad.
If, at this point we should say 'when they don't fight...', they fought Joe could probably win big by putting his shots right through the centre, unlike the Manfredo fight when his last few shots looked like he was trying to hit someone over the head with an invisible bottle.
His workrate showed Froch can be uncomfortable when the aggressor can put on a high workrate.
I didn't say Joe would KO Carl, I mostly say It will be on points. It's possible he could get a stoppage overwhelming Carl though since his one pace and low guard would make It easy for Joe to back Carl to the ropes like Joe does with a lot of fighters.
Carl's last opponent used to be a Middleweight and Taylor's fighting two In a row when he fights Spink's so Joe's not the only one who does the fighting the smaller man thing.
Tatevosyan could of came In unprepared too as he was only coming off a beating from Bute too In less than two months after he fought Froch.
Manfredo's leagues below Joe but In my opinion he did show top 10 potential at Super Middleweight though. Joe still shouldn't of fought him though but theres not many to choose for him when Kessler had to fight Andrade and Taylor choosing Spinks.
He'd be accruate enough to hit Froch on the chin the way Carl's defence Is but Joe fights alot of guys shorter than him so no wonder he mostly hits them on the top of the head more than the chin.
Joe didn't break his hand either according to his site.
http://joecalzaghe.com/newsStory.asp?id=20
It did no such thing. Froch covered then KO'd him. If flattening a guy in three is a sign of discomfort then fair play.
Taylor is fighting a smaller man. That cannot be denied. Taylro also took on the #1 fighter in his division as a green pro and then took on the man who supplanted the #1 in his very next fight. Taylor is the #1 in his division in only a few years.
Calzaghe is yet to reach undisputed #1 in his division despite a decade long title-reign.
The guy Froch KO'd was coming off a loss but was better than Manfredo. Manfredo is not very good. People tried to pretend he was but he was not.
Reports came out after the fight that he injured his hand hitting Manfredo. If it is not we are owed a Super fight the month after next according to SN. June or July. Who have they got? Or is the hand going to go leaving a gap until a fight in September?
I still have trouble accepting that Taylor won the 1st Hopkins fight though Hopkins was so negative which had a fair bit to do with that. I felt Taylor won the 2nd and deserves credit for taking on Winky, but he didn't win that fight...I want Taylor to do something big, but I feel he needs to beat Pavlik - a big, powerful, well balanced (if easy to hit) pro. There are question marks, serious ones, about Jermain's stamina.
For me, Taylor beats Pavlik (providing Pav beats Miranda) = Taylor is an outstanding champion.
It is a pity about Joe - alarmingly it took 9 years to even get a fight that anyone cared about - but Taylor could well end up playing to the SN fiddle by coming over here & getting outworked by a fitter man.
I feel that Taylor knows he's fighting a losing battle with the scales and it may not be worth the hassle of him boiling down to 160 especially not if he has to boil down for the massive, hard hitting Pavlik...$10mil demands aside, he may find a super middle title shot increasingly tempting.
I'll finish by saying that Joe has been something of an embarrassment. Agonising over opponents, moaning about not being appreciated, letting good fights slip away and shamelessly taking on at least ten poor, cut rate challengers...a real "can do but won't do"

250k is a hell of a lot of money esp for a challenger, this isn't a huge domestic scrap like Benn v Eubank, not even Hatton v Witter or Haye v Macca.
There are only a few fights thatr generate millions and joe public isn't gonna get that excited about this.
I think Witter is only earnig bout 60k as WBC champ

was a vacant belt fight wasnt it?
imo close decision either way - i think both have the chin for it tbh, it goes to the cards and then you go to styles. give it any longer tho and Froch wins, his chances increase as Calzaghe ages.
calzaghe will retire before he fights anyone else dangerous IMO, he thinks he should be king of wales and champion for life after beating lacy

Its a great debate about a fight that isnt likely to happen - Calzaghe would out work Froch who would have no more success than Lacy landing the big bomb - Calzaghe with his fast hands would get the points win chasing Froch into every coorner of the ring - I dont think you will see Joe go for KOs anymore, he will do all he can to avoid hand injuries by being a lighter puncher - He has the skills to do it that way and I see it becoming his gameplan until he retires - Froch is going to come unstuck with his style of fighting, I am sure of that, although he did show an improvement in his defense tactics the last time he fought - Inkin would be a massive test for him and you couldnt honestly pick the winner - Kessler I feel would be just too much and I would have to go with him getting the win over Froch - A fight with Reid who is way past his best can only end one way but it might be a little tougher than Froch anticipates - Froch makes me laugh by saying he just cant see how anyone can beat him - Well its easy Mr Froch, keep that arm low and Kessler or Inkin will show you how its done - Hamed was the master of that style and he was floored and Hamed was faster on his feet as well - No one can deny Froch is good but at true world level he may prove to be not quite good enough.
