Calzaghe is fighting for Millions in front of 35k people, is the ring champion, recognised as the best in the world at 168 and fights live on HBO and ITV.
Clinton is on an undercard of a 'IBO' ("I want to fight for real titles and not just the WBU") title fight, no TV interest and earning less than JC's expenses!!
Do you want illustrations as in two piles of money and guess who's is who's?

Read these boards if you want to know whose thought more highly of!. Jade Goody has earned millions herself, does that make her a great actress, star etc??... we know SN are great at ripping of the fans and piling beer swilling Welsh night clubbers into Joes fights, that doesn make it right and if you want to see the result compare the media coverage of boxing here today compared with 20 years ago... SN have done a great job in making boxing a minority sport in this country, ...well done!!... 8)

Hatton is also a Ring champion. Just as Calzaghe is. Calzaghe wasn't a Ring champion until about 8 or 9 years into his reign. Shall we say, perhaps, that Joe wasn't a real champion until that time, hmm?
Let's keep things in perspective. Now that we're using such terms as Ring titles to distinguish the validity of crowns. When will Alex Arthur own a Ring title? Vacant WBO won't suffice. Will crowds be told that a WBU crown is a fake belt used to get UK fighters up to world class standard?
Funny you can talk about Ring titles when little was done to clarify a fight such as Earl-Katsidis being wbo INTERIM.
Clinton would be earning more money if UK promoters could get on. Naturally, that has nothing to do with allegedly. Haye wasn't serious about Macca. Clinton didn't fancy his chances v Joe. Froch? Oh, he's all mouth, he proved he'd never risk himself v Calzaghe.

True, if everything goes well in Vegas Clinton will be in a better position than Calzaghe... I think the Americans will prefer his style to slappy Calzaghe and the fact that he fights 'live' fighters.... Woods vs Johnson in America could be pretty big....
So because he's fighting on Vegas It will give him a better position how?
He's already beaten Julio and Julio ain't as a big name no more.
Well work it out for yourself, Clinton is fighting in LAS VEGAS!... capital of boxing, against a world class opponent while Calzaghe is stuck in muddy old Wales fighting tv stars!... do you need illustrations??!...
So basically just because he's fighting In Vegas means he's better off? Not If he's not being televised and cared enough about he's not.
Clinton deserves better.
Gonzalez doesn't really seem to be that world class anymore and America's seemed to lost Interest In him.

Gonzarlez is a far better fighter than Manfredo and many other fighters Calzaghes faced. How do you know Americas lost interest in Gonzarlez?.... go there often do you??.... this fight is a springboard for Woods having a bigger fight in America... I dont see Calzaghe putting himself on the line abroad...

Would Hatton be in a better position if he had stayed with SN? Or would his last fight have been at the MEN (again) against Steve Forbes? or maybe Peter Buckley (although he is undoubtedly better than Bobby Gunn). Sensible answers please...
Calzaghe is losing credibilty hand over fist, thankfully not as fast as his Promoter. His claim to being the best at 168 started to be questioned the night he fought Bika and Kessler beat Beyer, and that questioning has only increased. You can claim to be trying to make fights but with all the bull-s*it and counter-bull, the boxing fans dont know or care who is trustworthy anymore. And your attitude does not help, does it?
Woods is fighting competitive fights, AWAY from his home country, never mind home town. Yes we know Calzaghe went to Germany to fight Veit, well done Joe. Woods went to the USA to fight ROY JONES JUNIOR... Try and catch FW giving fans the oppurtunity to see JC vs a prime RJJ, or even JC vs Kessler this year...
If Kessler fights Joe i will be the first one to hold my hands up.... but there is a credibilty and goodwill factor that is rapidly shrinking.... need a label for it?

How Is this rematch a spring board when It's not going to be Televised on HBO and the fact that he's already beaten Gonzalez?
Abroad doesn't matter, opposition and exposure do.
Calzaghe would tear Into Gonzalez as easy as he did against Manfredo.
Well Julio Isn't exactly a HBO star or being talked about highly so there Is some Interest lost In Julio.
The double standards some of you have here, If Joe fought Gonzalez he'd be ripped to pieces on this forum.

Clinton Woods is not in the same situation as Calzaghe so your point is irrelevant. Calzaghe has been a champion for years and been talking about fighting big stars for about the same amount of time. He fights in front of 35,000 people in a nothing fight yet Woods who has worked his bollocks off to reach the top eclipses anything Calzaghe has done by fighting in the fight capital of the world. In addition whilst he lost the fight Woods when he was striving to be the best actually fought the best pound for pound fighter at the time in Roy Jones Jr and has taken on the very best Light Heavyweights in the world. Has Calzaghe taken on the very best in his division? The only conclusion that any fight fan can draw is that by the very virtue of taken on the best at the time in his division Clinton Woods has achieved a whole lot more than Calzaghe.

the sad pathetic thing is that had Joe fought Julio Gonzalez in 2004 or 2005 it would have been considered a huge step up in his competition. remember the bad years, max?
post lacy he's doing the same now as post mitchell.

Yes, I'm very aware of your broken record like attitudes of typical boxrec posting.
The Pudwill fights are In the past.
Manfredo, Lacy and Bika were better step ups than those gimme fights.

How Is my point Irrelevant? Woods fight In Las Vegas Is not a big fight that you guys are trying to make out. Gonzalez is not the big name he used to be and hasn't had a big enough fight since he lost to Woods.
But because he's an non telivised undercard In Vegas, you guys try to make out this fight Is bigger than It actually Is. Not every Vegas fights are big fights. Ground does not make fights big fights.
I don't deny Woods has worked hard and I am a Woods fan, but this Isn't a huge fight or step up.
I don't see how fighting Infront of a small crowd against a guy he beat already eclipses fighting Infront of at least 19,000 at the MEN putting on one of the best boxing lessons In boxing.
Calzaghe has taken on the best Super Middles except Kessler.
As much as I like Woods, he has not unified and had 20 defences regardless of the belts and dominated nearly whoever he fights. So no, he hasn't achieved more than Calzaghe.
Hobson prefers to spoil Hatton and pretend he's a bigshot when It was Warren who made Hatton the bigshot he Is but he's slowly losing draw In his own country just to please another.

Poppycock.
I like Woods, but there's no way he had exceeded Calzaghe on any level.
Like you say, Woods has taken on the best available competition at the time, but the light heavyweight division lacks any truly outstanding fighters unfortunately.
I wish Woods nothing but the best, and on a personal level admire him as a professional who has done things the hard way, but your claim doesn't hold water.

Would say that Dawson is going to be an outstanding WBC champion. And that Adrian Diaconu - who just spanked Rico Hoye in 3 rds - is an excellent looking contender. But otherwise obviously the rest appears to be old hat.

He outdoes Calzaghe in the category 'willing to take on other world class fighters at your weight'.

I think I've covered this with the 'done things the hard way' comment.
As I said, I admire Clinton, but his achievements don't mirror Calzaghe's, though in truth he's not THAT far behind if he could unify and make a couple of defences.
Clinton has been willing to take on all comers, but then again, he hasn't had much choice otherwise he would never have gotten where he is.

dunno he faced RJJ (peak) who is five times better than anyone Joe has ever fought along with beaitng Johnson who is also better than anyone JC has fought.

Yes, however, he lost to both men, and should have had two losses to Johnson rather than one, as that first fight was really rather kind to him.

was still willing to get in the ring with them mate can JC honestly say he fought the best.
Ill answer that for you.
NO. Id rather a fighter fougth the best and lost and had success after than told lies about hsi fear of flying for ten years as an excuse not to fight Ottke Jones hopkins (delete as appropriate) Thenh holidays in Sardina and was ringside for Oscar Mosely 2, how did he get there then? fornicating swim?
its been one set of bullshit after another with Joe for various reasons we can only guess at, but you ask me who would I pay to go and watch and give me Clinton every time. I hoep Calzaghe fights Kessler and gets fucked over as he has been fornicating over the fans for so long.

You won't hear me argue with that. I just feel that thus far overall, Calzaghe's career, if not his attitude, has been better than Woods'.

well we will have to agree to disgree then
Clinton an honest trier makes the most of his talent and fights the best he can.
Calzaghe wastes his and fights reality tv runner up, that isnt having the better career even if JC is far more talented.
