With cucumber? I thought you'd still be drinking your magners-in-the morning 'eye openers' (I think you called them) and something rather stronger in the evening. No?Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Later, when iv'e finished my Pimms and lemonade

What do you mean by "the contrast of the two leading up to the fight was immense"?stujones wrote:On the fence untill fight week... Surprised that hardly anyone has gone for a Calzaghe KO. I know kessler appears to be sound in chin... He has often mentioned in interviews post fight that he was hurt. Perhaps its just respectful, but he hasn't really been in with a puncher of Calzaghe's reputation.

I can see all those strenths workin for calzaghe in this fight, his ability to get in and out and still land punches will prove to be the difference.
IF Kessler should win, and the American posters claim that "pfft... so what, Kessler beat an over the hill fighter.. means nothing and Kessler is a noone".jangeorg wrote:usher7783 wrote:For me Calzaghe is a clear wiiner providing he doesnt get clipped, the only way i ever see calzaghe gettin beat is bein ko'd, he has far to much handspeed, footwork, variety of punch and determination to lose a decision. Kessler is like two Lacys , he is much bigger , much faster , has a great defence , has one of the best hard jabs in boxing and he punches in combinations behind that jab , he can seem robotic because of his european style but he has good footmovent and tight well taught technique ,, he outboxed Mundine who has amazingly fast hands , that fight is a better gauge than what many think , a sneaker as far as form goes , people blow Mundine off but his speed is great and his defense to land clean on is great also ,, Kessler had back injurys in that fight and boxed beautifull ,, that tells me that he wont have any trouble with Joes speed ,, Joe power is not that great either , he has a lot of tkos but not many KOs because he is volume not power ,, but that volume and crowding could give Kessler lots of problems ,, If Kesslers jab is on the mark it will have Joe in trouble because it will prop him as it real solid and that will lead sooner or later onto Kesslers big guns ,,,, Kesslers trump card is his jab and thats what this fight is all about , if Joe can get past it he will get it , if he cant Kessler will and either side can stop the other depending who is on what side of the jab ,,, then we have Joe is 36 and Kessler is 28 , this is the same career point when Hatton fought 36 yr old KT , I reckon the age in the fight will come into it somewhere , Kessler can fight a strong 12 rnds and comes in shape and carrys enough power that he could still knock you in the last , if you write Kessler off you are blind because he is a live one and a country mile ahead off Jeff Lacy .
I see this as great fight and I cant wait for it , Kessler by mid KO , an old champ has got to go sooner or later ,, and they get old in one night ,, 36 is getting to where things start to happen when the right opponent turns up , it was never going be a tv star or bika ,,, but with Kessler , the playing field just changed dramatically ,,, If Joe can win this fight its a great effort and I will definitely give hi big Kudos for beating Kessler ,,, if he can
Lacy and Joe I was talking about. Joe was laughing around, looking dead relaxed. Lacy was very aggitated walking back and fore in his dressing room looking very tense.Deram wrote:What do you mean by "the contrast of the two leading up to the fight was immense"?stujones wrote:On the fence untill fight week... Can you elaborate on that?
No but the cumulative affect could stop the fight. The ref was very brave to let Lacy go on beyond half way IMO.harrygreb wrote:agree but joe doesnt have a real punchers reputation.

THEN you only have yoiurself to thank Jengeorg with your emphasis on Calzaghe's age. You make it sound like in your mind Kessler could not beat Calzaghe if he was young. and if that is truely so then Kessler has little to win from this fight because he will not get much credit if he wins. Not should he.
