Fantastic win that for Witter. I certainly didn't see that coming to be honest.

How wrong can you be, I certainly was - Witter all the way with Harris never really getting into the fight - Witter never looked troubled and had total control throughout - Harris was a dangerous challenger on paper but in reality he was out boxed and KOd by a man more than worthy to retain his title - Great fight from round two onwards but a bit scrappy in five with a lot of holding - The finish was conclusive and you could see Harris was never going to fight on - His will had gone and Witter had proved he was the far better man - The Americans may now acknowledge Witter in the same way that they had to eventually acknowledge Hatton - That said you never know Hatton v Witter may just happen but I doubt it because it wouldnt make enough dollars to put on.

I think I'm vindicated for sticking up for Witter after the Morua fight. Jr said he had only 8 rounds of sparring and his timing was off. This time he was on.

If Hatton comes back down - win or lose to Mayweather - then Jr is the clear #2 and it should happen.

Malignaggi is an immature boy compared to Witter and Hatton. Rees, of course, if a wild card.

IMO Golden Boy's East Coast side are grooming Demarcus Corley for Witter. Maybe Witter gets to fight on a GBP show.

Witter is one of those enigmatic conumdrums that can look bad in fights or very good. Most times he can turn the fight fan off (myself included) but he has undoubted talent at this level, which tonight only confirms.

The main thing for him is that he produces the W. Fighters can get carried away by the need to make the fans flock behind them by adopting a style that compromises a win. Witter appears to be self contained enough to stick to what he does well with his awkwardness, reflexes, fast hands and significant pop.

You have to say he will be a difficult task for anyone, Hatton included if that fight ever takes place.

Any news on if Castillo wishes to return.... that would be a good un for Witter - it would really have to be in the states.

This Tim Bradley prospect looks likely to be the new #1 Contender now. I aint seen him in action but he record looks good - I think Witter should look at some high profile Voluntaries prior to that meeting.

If there is a struggle to get a high profile name, then Olusugen would get sanctioned.

YOu know what its like if he took on castillo he'd be lambasted for taking on someone who "has been on the slide and was exposed by hatton", I realy think it should be in the states regardless, don't golden boy have options on him and froch.

Actually, it's occurred to me I'm jinxed with the boxing...I've been on nights or away offshore or down the Falklands with work for every big or biggish world title fight involving a British boxer for about 3 years now except for Calzaghe-Lacy.

He has a better belt than the IBF... Also I dont quite recall the Ndou fight as a beating. Witter produced a great performance but Ndou is not the same style as Harris

Ndou will probably hold up Malignaggi's IBF belt. Then Paulie will go for someone like Joel Casamayor probably.

Yes I know that it might be a no-win situation for Witter, but at least if he put on a clinical display IN THE STATES - it would get coverage. Joshua Clottey just had a similar position when he beat the Late Corrales... Some quarters were saying he beat a shot, over weight, un motivated fighter... But now Merchant, Lampley et al always mention him when they talk about World class Welters, even if the Corrales victory might not have proven that exactly. Its all about the coverage.

Witter could do a clinic over the likes of Harris, Njoudgio, Garnacia, Lynes, Bradley etc at the Doncaster Dome on a Friday - The HBO/Showtime crew wouldn't take notice and he'd still be obscure. As I have said before, personally I felt Harris was enough of a name HAD IT BEEN IN THE STATES. Castillo definately would be.
