Theres pity theres no chance of a Rees fight because a WBC-WBA British unification would be bound to draw and would be pretty easy into the bargain

Should Witter have stayed with Warren?
nah, I think Junior seems better with Hennessey. Going the authentic route, gunning for the traditional belts, etc etc. Hennessey's obviously had a lot of belief in Witter & it's working out well now.

Witter-Paulie will be dependent on whether HBO or Showtime give a damn. Showtime hate him beyond reason because he spoiled Judah's party on a Tyson show. Only way I see Witter in the US is on GBP shows, hence why I brought up Demetrius Hopkins.

In fact, fighting Paulie or Demetrius in America strikes me as bad news because of the "unusual" scorecards that DiBella and Golden Grahams shows have.

I'm glad I was wrong about Witter. While I appreciated his fights with Corley and Morua, the length between hardly scintillating fights and the frequent Hatton is my birthright talk were making it hard to be enthusiastic.

But this was bloody great stuff. This was a fabulous performance. Well fvcking done Jr.

You mention in your post why should Witter move up a weight as he is so strong at 140. So why was there pressure for Hatton to do so?

Will there be the same clamour for Witter to seek the big fights as there is with Hatton? If not why not?
Witter would certainly fight Hatton, Mayweather, Cotto, Mosley at 147 of that I'm sure
I agree.

The thing is he is going to have to get a move on. Age in the way.

I can see him having no option other than to move up that is where the money is. Other than a fight with Hatton of course.

The relationship between Warren and the Ingles was bad, and Frank had decided that he wasn't really interested in Witter's career any more. It was the right time to move, and I think Warren was glad to see the back of Witter to be honest.
Interesting I didn't really knows the ins and outs of the Witter-Warren relationship

Why is there a bad relationship between Warren and the Ingles?

I wonder if Warren wishes he'd put more into Witter now. He might not be a draw but a WBC-WBA unified champ - which he would be if Warren fed him the WBA to add to the WBC would be big money down the line.

Is Witter becoming a better draw in Yorkshire now? A good few 1000 were packed into the Donny Dome - I'm not sure about the figures and they have the Sky money. Plus hes sold it by himself without an undercard

I'm sure if the opportunities right he'll jump upto 147, but unless he gets a fight with 1 of the big 5, why give up a perfectly good WBC belt and his top position at 140?

I think your right, Witters at the age where he needs career defining fights. Harris was a great start but where else are the big fights? There aren't many at 140.

What about Castillo though? Surely a US network would pick it up and a slower, older Castillo who comes forward and eats shots would make Witter look very good. Castillo also doesn't look strong at 140

Witter showed ( again ) that he really has the power to put pretty much anyone at 140 in trouble, when he sets down on his punches that is.

Hatton may be the favorite over Witter, but you can see why he'd rather not, if he doesn't absolutely have to.

And that hook Harris landed flush on Junior in the 3rd (??) looked like it would have flattened or badly shaken a lot of fighters, but Witter took it no troubles.

I wondered if taking a shot like that might make him cautious, but he carried on like nothing had happened. Terrific performance.

Howard Eastman?
Braithwaite and the Eastmans' (Howard and Gilbert) I had in mind - All 3 blow hot and cold.

I did think Kassim Ouma was from Guyana also, but its Uganda isn't it. Ouma would have also fallen into the inconsistent category.

Ghana has produced some very consistent fighters - Quartey and Azumah Nelson to name two.

Sadly Witter is not a big crowd puller and isnt popular in the States so it wont be success in Donny and next stop Vegas - Lets hope the Malinaggi fight can be made and is put on the Hatton/Mayweather undercard - What a night of boxing!!!! - Better still if the winner of Hatton/Mayweather is promised a fight with the winner of Witter/Malinaggi - Sorry, just dreaming.

Witter should book a flight to Vegas. Just so the press notices he's there, get interest in a fight going but don't be so aggressive towards Hatton as he has been in the past.

Witter booking a ticket to Vegas? - no tickets for him he won't get in as many thousands of other brits won't either.

Witter could take Malignaggi on points, but I don't think anyone can KO Malignaggi - If Cotto couldn't do it, then no-one can IMO.
Isn't Cotto one of them more breaking down types more than a puncher though?

Yes your right, However, whilst it was a clean KO in the end, no doubt the accumulation of 6 rounds of punching was a major factor in Harris' downfall. He looked absolutely spent. Witter has gone the distance more times than he has stopped world and fringe world class fighters.

Cotto might be classed as a break em down type, but he usually does. Hatton has also been classed as this in the past too, but he usually stops them too. Calzaghe also.

For Cotto not to budge Malignaggi shows he has some chin. Only really have to view his performance of Corley (Cotto I am refering to) to know he is quite some puncher for an accumulation guy.

Although yes, he generally wears them down as opposed to knock them with one punch... but every punch he throws he throws with evil intent and he hurts.

I think Junior has a better chance at STOPPING Hatton than Malignaggi. Hatton has got a great chin no doubt, but we have seen Hatton hurt once or twice (and too the body also). Malignaggi has his faults and flaws no doubt - but toughess, despite his appearance, and fitness are not them. If Witter hurts Malignaggi he'll run and survive. Hatton sometimes fights silly when he is hurt.

He looked good, would hate to fight him because you don't know where the shots are comming from they appear so clumsy.

Awesome performance from Junior, I backed him at the bookies to win in rounds 5-8 which made it all the sweeter as well. Very entertaining fight IMO, lets hope the yanks get to see it

You couldn't ask anyone to beat Harris that decisively. That was a special performance from Witter.

Malignaggi shouldn't be in any equation. He is Silvio Branco the 2nd. Just cos he's from Noo York, the traditional fight town. Paulie wouldn't have been a star when boxing in NY was big. All he is now is a regional attraction.

Excellent performances, I'd plumped for Harris in a close fight.

Chuffed for Junior.

And I have to wondered whether age is a factor for Ingle fighters, Witter is rarely tagged, is always on weight and isn't troubled by the distractions of the fridge or pub it seems.

He could be around like Nelson. Hi style, though in part based on reflex, the preserve of the young usually, means he could fight another 3 or 4 years no bother.

Cracking performance from Witter. He barely put a foot wrong in despatching a dangerous former champ. Also nice to see him not backing down from some hot exchanges with Harris. Junior meant business in there and this has to be a career best performance. Well done to all concerned.

Not sure I agree with Glen McCrory in saying all is forgiven, but this went an awful long way in putting the nagtives in the past.

I think Witter is right to go after Mallinaggi. Without hooking up with Hennessy, Witter would never have a had a glory night like last friday. The partnership is clearly working well so why not shoot for the stars?!

YUP Great performance for Witter well done Junior.

Lets hope they can get him a decent match up / payday, dont think the hatton fight will happen for 18 months at least if it does come off but performances like this make it more of a possibility thats for sure.

congrats to Junior.
