I did not attack you any whatsoever...what I said was very just and was in no way an attack, if it had been an attack there would have been insults, but I have better things to do rather than get in little flame wars any more, so I'll just delete any nonsense that I see!

On a side note, I also asked Buzz a while back if he see's any nonsense from me to delete anything he feels fit!

But this forum is not going to sink back into a place of constant flame-wars and insults...though there are still a couple of clowns who like to pull their head out every once and a while and then they place back up their...well...you get the picture, but those few typically get a quick deletion if anyone see's it!

Also Sonny Liston in the rematch against Ali, he basically laid down out of fear.
And Ali against Larry Holmes.

Ali quit in his corner like a dog, after throwing five punches (at most) in ten rounds.

Not exactly in the tradition of the greats of boxing.

Ali should have had his purse held up.

He defrauded those who paid to see a fight.

Ali's quitting as soon as Holmes finally threw some serious punches at the end of the 10th round was disgraceful.
Oh come on, your talking about a Ali who was 3 months away from his 39th birthday, on a serious decline and most possibly with the early signs of Parkinsons disease....hardly a fair example to use.

I guess Dempsey quit when he was sparked out with one punch seconds into the first round against Flynn.

Genaro Hernandez is one of the biggest quitters of all-time. He quit without an explanation against Oscar DeLahoya and also quit with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He almost quit on the Azumah Nelson fight, too, but won the fight.  :o :o

When the great Roberto Duran quit against Sugar Ray Leonard in New Orleans, it broke my heart. I just could not believe what I saw.

Clueless Controversial doesn't know that Dempsey was knocked down three times by Flynn.

But what does that matter when he is another member of the walking army of the clueless posting on the internet about boxing.

(Sandusky Star Journal) “Dempsey was down 10 seconds in to the bout, and he remained on his back for twenty seconds.”

This was also reported in the Pueblo Colorado Chieftain Feb 14, 1917, “Jack Dempsey of Salt Lake was knocked out in 10 seconds after the men shook hands. Flynn pushed Dempsey’s guard with his right arm and swung with his left to the jaw. The Salt Lake man sank to his knees and over for the count and it was 20 seconds after Flynn was declared the winner before Dempsey regained his feet.”

When questioned about the fight at the time Jack Dempsey seemed to be in agreement with that report. The March 16, Oakland Tribune wrote, “The one blotch on Dempsey’s list of performances is the fact that he was knocked out by Jim Flynn at Salt Lake. Dempsey explains this,” (Note article says ‘Dempsey explains’) “by saying that when they first came into the center of the ring for the first round, he put out both gloves to touch his opponent’s mitts as is customary, and Flynn took advantage of the move to whip a right haymaker to the jaw.”

As I've never seen the fight I'm going by reports I've read. Anyhow a young fit Dempsey being stopped in one round is far worse than an old, past it Ali being stopped in a world title fight by an undefeated, all time top 10 rated heavyweight.

Rocky Gattellari, who boxed between 1961 and 1968, including a tilt at Salvatore Burruni's Flyweight title and a fight against Lionel Rose which got Rose his shot at Fighting Harada for the Bantamweight title, blotted his copybook by making a "comeback" in 1979 against Paul Ferreri for Ferreri's Australian Featherweight title. During the third round, Rocky bowed to Ferreri and quit.

Back in the dressing room Ferreri blew up a treat. Both men were Italian born. Ferreri shouted at Gattellari "No wonder we lost the War! You make a man ashamed to be a wog!"

When caught blowing smoke out of his arse, granberry usually goes walkabout for a week.

Tune in next week and he'll be back with the same simplistic crap though.

He's got the stamina of a mule without half that animals intelligence.

Many of the instances you guys have mentioned took place after a few rounds of one sided bruising or due to an injury. The worst bail out I ever saw was Hilmer Kenty after only two rounds with Roberto Elizondo. He just felt things 'weren't right'.

Amazing. Just trawled through this thread, stunned to see no one mentioned Bert Cooper quitting after literally one blow against Reggie Gross, it was really something.

He pulled some similar bullshit against Foreman, shamelessly bailing out to the howls of the crowd. What a quitter the man could be. & then he goes & puts up two of the gutsiest displays you've ever seen against Holyfield & Moorer in quick succession. Unbelievable!

Manuel Ramos versus Joe Frazier.

Ramos gets up before the count of ten, then realizes he is probably going to continue to get the tar beat out of him and, with full faculties, just waves his hands, quits on his feet. Still trying to figure that one out.

I saw this one just a few days ago. I didn't think it was all that bad. Ramos fought pretty hard until it ended. & that was a prime (or near-prime) Joe Frazier, hardly Reggie Gross! lol!

well articulated, credible, and a good slice of truth and and a dose of reason.

I suppose I can no longer bait a fish that has been hooked reeled in and fileted in this manner. End of an era I suppose.

However I would factor into context such a sucker punch, leaving Dempsey his honor completely intact wouldn't most of us? However if you're going to be forgiving to Dempsey you have to be even handed and spread the good cheer to others.....like that 60's Champion.
