Great win, albeit against an overmatched opponent!!

Now he can go and plant some car bombs or do whatever 'Paddy wagon terrorists' do!!!

LOL.

I couldn't but help think when I saw Duddy come in in his tricolour shorts, getting fired up for the National Anthem and looking like there could be no greater joy than beating up an English guy in front of a partisan Irish crowd, "And those clowns at Boxrec still insist he's British".

Obviously the British nationality means very little nowadays when Brits are reduced to foisting it on people who clearly don't want it. :P

When Duddy becomes World champion, it's just going to make it even more obvious how inept BoxRec is.

I bet you anything that if he loses he'll miraculously become Irish again.

Like Andy Murray in the tennis, if he wins he British, if he loses he's Scottish.

they only half decent fighter he has faced is Alan Bosworth and he's no world beater.

Why did he get disqualified in that fight??
I'd argue that Francis Jones better than half decent, took care of Sinclair and pushed Anderson to the twelfth.
Although I realise where you're coming from, there must've been an absolute shed load of dodges in Hatton's career.

What you rabid racists fail to comprehend is that means absolutely nothing to me. To me nationality is merely an accident of geography, I take as much pride or shame in the actions of the English/British race (whatever that imaginary thing may be) as I do with those of people who like me were born on a Thursday, ie none at all.

Nationality is a matter of law not geography actually - and legally speaking, not to mention in terms of commonsense and morally this site is incorrect!!

That Samantha Mumba thing was one of the most cringeworthy bits of TV I have seen in years - truly dreadful.
I'd still give her one.
Its was as bad as Jimmy Magee commentating...... at one stage I thought I heard him say....." yes indeed, football, thats a sport, and bring us to tonight, and boxing, which is also a sport....

Genius!

In other words it is never going to happen.
did somebody really say that? what a stupid thing to say. if Duddy wins a world title does that make him more Irish, or something.

But you should be saying he's Irish at heart as well.

A true Irishmen would tell Shep you may have us down as Brit on paper but you can never have us a Brit In our hearts.

And you must scream It from the top of your lungs.

As regards to nationality, it is far more than geography. You inherit a history and culture, a particular upbringing that has lasting effects on the person you come to be.

Absolutely not, your nationality is not your culture, there are British people of many different cultures on my street alone.

Then I wouldn't call them British. They'd be Arab-Brits or African-Brits just like you have African-Americans etc.

Being born in Ireland, having Irish parents with Irish attitudes shaped by years of Irish history and culture makes that person Irish in attitude and pride. It is much more than geography.

OK, fair enough, you want to call them Jewish-British, Pakistani-British etc. you are describing their culture-nationality.
The person's nationality is still geographic, they are born and bred in the UK they are British and they have a Jewish culture so they are Jewish-British. It's exactly the same for Duddy, born and bred in the UK with an Irish culture therefore Irish-British.

Their actual nationality is determined by geography but what makes someone Irish or British isn't.

Duddy. Born and bred on the island of Ireland with an Irish passport. Irish.

why cant you acknowledge that the law relating to citizenship and nationality in Northern Ireland is different then the rest of the UK - this in the centre of the issue that has been rumbling on since day one!
