I agree.

They should at least devote some time in showing why Kessler is considered to be a major threat to Calzaghe. That would build up the anticipation much better. The channel is setting this one up as more or less a tough foregone conclusion. If Kessler wins they could end up with egg on their faces, especially after the eulogizing over the Calzaghe camp.

Anyway COME ON JOE. :TU: :box:

They did on the half-hour preview show last night. Very impressive, but very short clips. One showed him decking someone with a jab.

I'm a bit pissed and not paying full attention, but it does seem a shame if Kessler isn't being sold as a serious champion, which he is.

All else aside, I hope that this fight goes some way towards justifying the hype. I've already ranted about who I'm supporting and who I think will win so all that's left to say is - good luck to both competetors and may the best man win.

Exactly, they could have showed him KO'ing Beyer, jabbing Mundine's head off or popping straight shots off Andrade's nut. So far all the casual knows about Kessler is that he is a very stiff challenge and that's hearsay from the analysers.

Enzo up next, the best thing they can say about his opponent is that he is unbeaten. Michael Buffer is doing the MC job now.

absolutely.it's like 1 big celebration. a bit too happy about things. i mean, we're supposed to be shitting ourselves in anticipation by now.

only reason I can think of is Kessler not doing his part for the publicity, but what I heard was more to do with HBO not Setanta.

Anyway, come on Kessler, beat the FrankWarre n fighter!

Dempsey even said Calzaghe's belts were better than Kessler's.

there's no denying it.............the Kessler coverage is appallingly lacking.

it's MORONIC..........you bill something as a huge fight as both fighters are unbeaten world champs..........and then you go act like one doesn't exist.
It's stupid.

as for this Macarinelli fight i'm not expecting a contest.

MightyWarrior wrote:Bunce is pretty much dictating the show really, Clinton looks shellshocked and can't get a word in. And Bunce is a BIG Calzaghe fan obviously. Would have been good to get a Danish newspaper or TV boxing man in the studio as well.

I reckon the reason Enzo Calzaghe is generaly so unpopular with the media is that he has a HUGE ego - and rightly so - but NO sense of humour at all - at least in interviews. And he's very over bearing and boastful.
Deserves massive credit for what's he's done, but he's right: he doesn't get it.
During Joe's couple of joke years, Enzo hailed him as a Leonard/Ali talent.

Can't overlook Enzo's job of MANAGING. His results with training are impressive - judging by Macca's and Pryce's recent performances - but I'll bet Enzo has a hand in turning down this fight and that fight. He turned Andrade down for Joe from what I heard, just after the Lacy fight.

If we're lucky, Azzaoui may well turn out to be the new Ismael Abdoul :D

Azzaoui has a decent jab, the bodyshot took the wind right out of him. Enzo looks a wee bit fleshy to me.

Azzaoui better than expected. Round 3 and he's still there. :D

Come on Steve, this guy has got nothing to win the fight with.

It's poor fare really when the best thing they can say is "Azzaoui's throwing a couple back here"

Good body punching by Enzo but he's looking like the old left hook happy Macca. Where is this new, improved right hand gone?

Macca's a big exciting bloke but this isn't any kind of world title fight.

Another terrible mismatch.....Morais, Bugaj, Lamontagne, Henichen, Gunn, Azzaoui. Why is Enzo getting a string of them?

"Really good, really impressive" says Rawling.

Enzo's 2nd KO of recent done via illegal punch (following the 1st rd KO of Hobson).

Can't sympathise with Azzaoui, because he turned away, making his back a target.

"A stifferer test than Enzo was expecting" says Dempsey
