Couple of things I like about Froch, his undoubtedone punch power, some of the punches he threw last night were really spiteful. I also like the fact he doesn't drain a lot if anything to make weight (by his own admission) yet he still looks big and strong for a supermiddle.

The warning signs about Reids conviction were there from as early as the ring entrance. He didn't look particulary focussed and seemed to play up to the camera by going a little crazy on his walk.

I instantly thought that if his mind was on the job he would have that mean and concentrated look about him. Perhaps I'm reading too much into this.

Froch is frustrating to watch at times and I wish he would keep his guard up. I worry about his work rate though and think he may come unstuck at a higher level.

His reach will pose problems for most super middles in my opinon.

Yes i suppose it was a fair win. Markussen is a bit of a headcase though, not sure if he is always in the frame of mind.

I dont blame Calzaghe for not wanting to fight Froch

Are Magee and Reid that far off the top 10 though? I think Froch probably loses to Calazage in a toughish fight. He might beat a fair few other top players though

so Murray took some shots. Hickman threw more punches at Murray than any of John's previous foes (at least the fights I saw). He was bound to take a few more than usual. He was also granted the chance to land way more. Let's give the kid a chance.

Murray actually keeps his opponent off balance by forcing the fight. When they're off balance they can't land their best shots.

Look, I've seen JL Castillo, Humberto Soto, all the terrific upright Mexicans keeping their chins too high but they use nasty, educated pressure to keep their opponent's punches mimimised on the back foot and learn to block/parry shots.

Judging by Murray's style, he seems to study guys like these. Offensively, he's great. If he can keep that chin down, guard tight and add a bit more head movement (& you see him try out head movement most fights if not stikc to it) there will be few problems.

I think John can beat Thaxton and go on to take down Romanov when the time is right. If he faces Romanov, we'll know all about his chin/defense!

Well Froch has at least got people talking about him and that's a good start.

If I'm completely honest, I alway reguard a new talent with sceptisism and an irrational fear that somehow their presence will diminish the prestige of the established figures.

It took me a long while to warm to Joe Calzaghe and I was mortified when he beat Chris Eubank for the vacant WBO title.

Here we are a boxing generation later, and I'm doing exactly the same thing to Carl Froch.

For all the talk there still is about Hopkins, he had 2 goes at beating Jermain Taylor and couldn't do it.

LOVE to see Froch/Brahmer - similar fighters, both have the big punch and a nasty attitude in there.

Would be a fantastic fight, Carl should maybe take the money and chance in Germany, as they will bid big if a vacant title comes up.

Froch is not being ducked - what a load of shit. They haven't even tried to get his European title shot yet let alone a world title shot.

At the moment there are no grounds for saying Froch is a world class fighter - He hasnt reached that level yet, so he and his supporters are jumping the gun a bit - As for the top men ducking him, thats just nonsense - He will undoubtably get his chance to fight for a title soon and then we will see if the world class label is applicable - OK he beat Reid, but the fight did him no favours at all IMO - I thought his previous fight was better using his defense far more than he did against Reid - The power shots come from the legs which means he is a bit flat footed - The low left leaves him wide open to a straight right - The top men will exploit these things - No way will he win four world titles like Joe has - He overrates himself and people on here are doing the same.
