My personal circumstances have nothing in the slightest to do with you. And vice versa

I have been travelling back from Florida however, if that's ok with you?
And having an opinion is the whole point in using a forum. If nobody had an opinion there would be no board. Or is it just 'cos I fight that I get the sly comments.?

For the rest, I'm fighting December 8th as biolled, no opponent yet it will be an 8 rounder to tick over for English title in Feb

All the best
Thank you - at last some clear information about your career development to satisfy the interest of the fans who are interested in your progress. Much appreciated.

Yes, it may be a forum, and yes we are here to debate, but having made your identity known I think you have a duty to keep everyone informed about YOU when possible.

Take it as a compliment that we are interested rather than getting defensive Paul.
Getting defensive? From who, you?

Like I said, I was on a plane home from Florida, in fact make that two planes. Very sorry I didn't come replying when you clicked the fingers.

There is a difference in fans wanting to know when I am fighting next, out of pure interest in my career. Which is very humbling and a nice thing to know... I go out my way to reply to it, ie myspace, my website, email etc... But when it's a snotty nosed, second rate reporter throwing digs in before demanding an answer as if I owe them something, I don't have the time or effort to reply.

There are lots of genuine fight fans on these sites, I enjoy reading people's opinions on our great sport. No one is ever right and that's the beauty of boxing. Everyone's opinion differs. There are also the internet warriors like southpaw whatever his name is who are hiding behind screens throwing plain rude insults out for reactions.

I was told once by a good friend who plays football for a living not to bother reading 'the internet' because eventually it would piss me off. He was right

I don't NEED to post in my real name, I don't NEED to nor have a duty to inform anyone of what i'm doing and where. I do that by choice for people that take time to pay interest in me as it's the least I can do.

People that payed the nice comments, thank you.

Smigga,

I find your post interesting to Ben Carey - although other than saying hello to you on a couple of occasions and seeing in Ricky's dressing room in Vegas I have never really known you but I have to say I find your post surprising - I will explain why.

I know a lot of people rate you highly both as a person and a boxer - but your post has surprised me mainly because you have rose to the bait laid by that as you quote "snotty nosed second rate reporter" - Carey is at fault like many of us on these forums for being strongly passionate about boxing - in addition whilst I agree with the "Snotty nose" bit  :TU: ... when the national papers did not give a toss about boxing Carey amongst a few others spent hours and hours writing about all standards of boxers that appear on the undercards of various shows.

It is due to the reporting of the likes of Carey and other internet writers who incidentally travelled to shows at their own cost and then got back home to write up their reports which has kept the sport going to albeit a small degree.

When you Mr Paul Smith appeared on the undercards of shows and no one other than your fans had heard of you - it was the likes of "Snotty Nose Second Rate Reporter Carey" who bothered to report on you.

You and many others will say - so what - I will reply if it weren't for Carey and others - you and others would have only be known in your local papers or the Boxing News!!!

I do not wish to disrespect you in any way - but feel you cast aside people opinions and questions too easily and that is wrong - is that because now you are on the up and deservedly so - you no longer need the reports of those "Snotty Nosed Second Rate" reporters??

Smigga - true fight fans value the presence of boxers on here - it gives them access and insights that would have been impossible a few years ago.

Don't let daft spats put you off.

Internet forums have been described as like a pub - plenty of decent people but quite a few arseholes here and there. I disagree for the simple reason that pubs tend to weed a lot of arseholes out after they get their teeth shoved down their throats for spouting off.

Unfortunately, said arseholes can hide their identity on the net and stir what they like. Most on here aren't like that, which is why it's the only forum I use.

Believe it or not, Ben's a good lad really! :TU:

Ian, Ben may be a good lad mate, but that post wasn't called for. The reaction suited the question.

And Spud.... Let's not start eh mate? You've never said hello to me once in your life.... (and I tried to let on a few times, cos' you were according to team hatton and co: 'Hobson's runaround' and so part of the "Team")

only to be blanked by you. Maybe you were always busy.

First impressions count mate, you may be a nice fella, rumor has it your harmless(in a good way before you start  ) but first impressions last.

So don't give me the "On the up" shout eh? My demeanor and attitude towards people hasn't changed in years and nor will it. I've been on the up since my debut and still nowhere near anything of a top fighter, yet.

I won't be nasty to anyone for nothing and I won't kiss someone's arse 'cos they could write about me. Nice reporters ask questions and don't demand them, good reporters write honestly and if it's bad press it should be constructive. Maybe BC just got out of bed the wrong side that day.

Smigga,

I shouldn't be surprised - I distinctly remaining saying hello on at least 2 occasions - I do not have to lie about things and simply cannot believe you are trying to dispute such a minor fact.

With regards to blanking you - no chance - simply not me - not in my make up - I thoroughly enjoy saying "hello" or giving a nod if nothing else in respect for ALL those in the sport.

Before I go any further I have no problems whatsoever in apologising for giving you the wrong impression.

But you state don't give me the "on the up line" - I have to say "don't give the runaround" jibe either mate - whilst it is true I find it astounding how many people demean the job of "gofer" or "runaround" in such a patronising way.

I actually and always will remain the luckiest boxing fan alive and if I never go to a show again I have had more than my fair share of fantastic "tales" to be able to remember.

Enough said - but like you Smigga - I value my pals - Carey is one of those I regard as a pal and I don't give a f*ck even if I am in the minority - I will back him.

Exactly my point mate, You will back him even if he is wrong

And as for the respectful nod, you didn't know me then, so I'm sure you didn't know I was a fighter. I sold a large amount of tickets for F.A for Hatton vs Maussa.... that's when I'm talking about

PS I wasn't slating the job title of gofer or runaround... just letting you know that I knew who you were before you knew of me

No bad blood mate, no need to lie myself. Take it easy

PS. As pointed, before it gets stupid, Ive seen a thread with my name on and as stated I answered accordingly

Smigga,

Now you mention Hatton/Maussa - I have to be humble enough to say I was a W*nker to everyone I came across on that show - took on far too much - you have my complete apology - came across a few people who I snapped at and am still saying sorry to this day!!!

To amuse you from that show - I can remember someone owing us £3k on tickets - had a right pop at them both and it was getting quite snotty to say the least until a certain Sheffield Trainer (not Richard Poxon) pulled me back and said these people were in the know and I could end up in the bottom of the canal outside!!! - f*ck me I sh*t myself!!!

Also we did not realise at the time the amount of people who Ricky actually wanted in the changing room - I believe there was you, Pat Maxwell and a bloody nice looking lady boxer amongst others who had to be given passes!!! - so give me a tadge bit of credit mate - I know you and knew you then as well and knew or thought you were part of the set up at Billy's - just a shame I wasn't courteous to you and many others mate!!

Sorry again!! - f*ck me now you mention that show - embrassed to hell for the way I acted towards some people!!!

And hey ... Oliver is right ... get to bed - you have a fight to win!!!

Bear in mind mate all those second rate snotty nose reporters who will criticise if you are not top notch!!!

Paul if you are reading this and not preparing for your fight, could you let us know what you were doing in Florida? were you training out there or just getting a sunbed free tan?

(I don't want anyone to have a go at him if he doesnt answer this question)
