I'm convinced Khan has no chin and will never amount to much because of it. He is not hard to hit and any half decent boxer who takes a shot well, and can bang, will take him out.
Khans chin will be his ultimate downfall. I suspect Warren knows it and will be feeding Khan featherweight (punchers) for some time.
It would take a Warren Masterclass to groom Khan into the top tier of world boxing............. prepare yourself's for the long haul as he gives it his best shot

YAWN!

to me he's just a plodder who has decent power but he's no one punch KO artist, his stoppage victories are a result of wearing fighters down.
IMO khan would handily outbox thaxton to win on points or possibly stop him late.
however khan is some way short of world level yet, i'd like to see him get more experience over the next year before challenging for a world title.
I think Jono would have done the version of Khan who got dropped by Limond, but Khan has got a lot better since that I feel.

Tend to agree, I think Khan would be too quick for Thaxton.
Khan can be tagged though, so we can't write Thaxton off totally.

Khan has improved - no doubt.
But there has been no proof since the Limond fight that his chin has.
I am still convinved (like the majority of people - his team included) that his chin is china-like ..
Like they once used Thaxtons name - I believe they are now using Romanov`s as way to convince people ... they didn`t want to fight Jon .. I can`t see them wanting to fight Romanov also ... lets see

April in America seems like the next logical step. Some sort of intercontinental nonsense against a roadsweeper on the Calzaghe undercard.

I would have liked to see Khan take a few more chances but then again, he went 12 rounds for the first time, pretty much won as he pleased and to be honest St Clair just fought to survive.
If StClair had opened up more, I think this would have suited Khan as he'd have been able to catch him more cleanly. It's hard to make an impact on a solid guy who doesn't give you much to aim at.
But Khan boxed to orders, used the ring well and I think deserves credit for that.
Still don't like how open he is to a right hand, but that's what most reasonably tall fighters are open to.
Thought the Mayweather jab to the body is a great weapon.
But he didn't go mad early on against a guy who was never really there to be knocked out.
We do have to remember he is only 21 and can only get better, but I would like to see a bit more devil in his work.
As for him boxing for a world title this year. Think he could be taken aside and told it's a race, not a sprint. You want to get there and stay there. Too many good Olympic fighters have been fast-tracked to the top without obtaining the necessary experience to stay there. (re Meldrick Taylor and David Reid).
Spot on the Calzaghe v Hopkins bill would be great for him. He's only 21 and is headlining shows, which just brings added pressure. He's having to grow up under the glare of all and sundry.

I`d be confident of somebody outside the top 20 beating him.

22yrs old - good chin ... and a right hook that would starch Khan before his fans had a chance to phone their mothers to tell them their on TV

Bloody hell theres no pleasing some people!

I thought it was a good performance by Khan - and good match making - he was forced to work for all twelve rounds - and didnt seem too tired at the end. Yes he did get caught a few times but if he didnt we would call it a mismatch. And he didnt look
that much bigger than St.Clair. All in all a good learning fight. I dont have too much of a problem that St.Clair is a superfeather - look at Cotto's early record and you will see its littered with decent lightweights(whereas he he was a lightwelter). The point is that since the opponents have so much more experience than the prospects the matchmakers ensure the prospects have a natural weight advantage to compensate. Fair enough I say, its a time-tested way of bringing up prospects until their ready to take the plunge in real world class. It seems to me like some people actually want Khan to get knocked out! Have no idea why this is so - we finally have a prospect who could be a genuine world champ. Admittedly I still, like some, have concerns about his chin but if he continues to improve his defence that won't matter will it!

I thought Kahn did a good job against St Clair and i agree stick the kid on the Calzaghe undercard against some club fighter.
Just a laugh, if Warren likes putting Kahn in with super featherweights, stick Kahn in with Valero be a gud fight!!!!

To be honest, from the point of view of competative boxing, I can't see how this fight could have been much worse. 120-108s all round suggest, I'm afraid a mismatch. We know St Clair hasn't been stopped- so what? Khan failed to change that. At no point did St clair really seem a threat, or to be taking the iniciative.
St Clair is a super feather, with a good chin, apparantly nearing the end of a decent career, who lacks a knockout punch. And he has come in at short notice.
So, on paper, whats the most predicatble thing? Khan cruises to a win on points, without significantly troubling his opponent, or knocking him down.
And thats what happen.

The tools needed to beat Khan haven't changed in my opinion. Good power, a good chin, and a quantity of skill and desire. Amir's offence isn't quite great enough to save him from a determined top-level boxer.

The most worrying aspect of Khan is his inability to avoid getting hit with those overhand rights. I think he got better at avoiding them towards the end of the fight, but his defense is still a bit shaky, imo.
Overall, I think the performance was satisfactory. He's definitely improving as the months go on, and he is definitely one of the better fighters in the lightweight division. But I really don't think he should be thrown in against a World class boxer yet.

A quote from doghouse-
Former world champion Barry McGuigan was impressed with Khan's performance, stating: "He might not be a world class puncher, but he's a world class fighter. He was brilliant."
Make of that what you will

decent enough fight in that he went twelve with decent level of opponent....but i fail to see how his defence has improved one iota.he ko earl before he landed a punch, and sinclair, who had every disadvantage in the book, never really put khan under any pressure, and he still managed to land some punches ...punches that thaxton would definately land.whether thaxton would win the fight would probably come down to khans chin....if he can take thaxtons heavy handedness( not benn style ko punches) then we would learn a lot more about how good his defence, and chin are. at least thaxton would put him under pressure .and by the way, so would murray, meager and stewart

Khan's defense has definitely improved. That's easy to see. But I agree that it isn't good enough at this stage.

Can't fault Khan's performance, he did exactly what he needed to do and got a useful 12 rounds under his belt. An ideal opponent, yes.
But he's still very much a work in progress, and it's not his fault that he's the only boxing star ITV have in their empty cupboards. In the USA, he'd be learning his trade in these type of fights on undercards. Over here, he's very much under the spotlight, and getting judged along Oscar De la Hoya type lines.
Of course he's talking world titles, but there's no need take that type of talk too seriously, he's miles off that yet.

i think its a top notch performance considering he has not be around long...
Winning all rounds is another good thing...
Khan also took a few solid Hits to the head.. we know St. Claire is not the biggest hitters in the buisness, but he is a Boxer, and he can Punch (it is his profession after all).
Alot of Positives came from the match

Okay fair enough he ain't ready for Juan Diaz - he's admitted as much already in an interview for BM. But I'd give him a chance against David Diaz( WBC Champ) who's nothing special at all and even Katsidis who's very hittable. But he'd definitely be the underdog in both fights.

IMO, Khan is a porspect - 2 years away from being ready - but if that chinnis China, he will never make it to the top as a genuine world champ.
