If this is true (exceptionally big if) I don't care.
If you think that by charging a million quid for private boxes to the city is in some way indicative of Chelski being a bigger club than Liverpool then you should stick to talking about boxing.

That's the whole point though, isn't it. All of a sudden someone else gets a bit of money and 'It's not fair, we always had more money than everyone else and now they've getting in on the act, it's so unfair'. Who do you think takes more in gate money, Chelsea or Liverpool? You think Liverpool are not in debt? You think Man Utd are not in debt?
It wasn't a closed shop though. Back in the 70s and 80s the FA Cup used to get spread around a lot more.
As I said, those clubs are most definitely in some debt (Spurs aren't though - we shall inherit the earth when you all fall on your arse!) but long term are viable - Chelski are not, despite the amount of 5 minute football fans polluting Sky football pubs on Sunday afternoons.
And as I said before, Chelski never got 'a bit' of money. They blew everyone else out of the water changing the face of Premiership for the worse.

I don't think it makes them a bigger club than Liverpool. I was just pointing out that they aren't some cap-in-hand paupers who couldn't compete with Liverpool until Uncle Roman gave them half a billion quid. To be honest, I'm not sure what argument King Tubby was trying to make.

You're right ,it wasn't a closed shop back in the 70's and 80's. The Russian's only been here a few years, can't blame him for everything. Have a look at what Sky and the bigger clubs' greed done for the game. If he goes, he's secured the debts, and we go back to what we were, a side trying to break into the top 4, a bit like yourselves.

A great chant from Scots fans to Hibs (I think) when Graham Rix became their manager.
(To the tune of Manic Street Preachers)
"If you tolerate Rix then your children will be next......"
Also, going back to early 80's
(to the tune of Hersham Boys - Sham 69)
"Tottenham Boys, Tottenham Boys...No Pork Pies or Saveloys"

What point? That they make more money than Liverpool, but are still losing 75 million quid a year?
I don't have anything against Chelsea fans (well, not those who've been there longer than 5 minutes). It's not their fault Abramovich decided to pour money into a bottomless pit. Don't think it's good for the game though. Although, that said, there are a lot of things wrong with football besides Russian billionaires.

That we're a fair sized club, some people seem to think we was a lower league Club till the Russian came along.

Fair enough. It seems I completely misunderstood your point about gate receipts.

Great chant I remember once being taught by a drunken Glasweigan in a hotel bar in Belfast in the wee hours.
To the sound of Dean Martin - Amore

And it's not big Pierre
It's Di Canio.....

I thought you lot were going to start a new tradition, Goz. Only winning a cup when the year started with a 1.

Do you think he'll get you into the top 4 next year? Might overtake The Bank of England club.

Not sure, depends who we sign in the summer.
Probably do need a new top notch keeper and a world Central Midfielder to play alongside Jenas.
Then I'd say we have a shout....

Who do you support mate? You seem to know your stuff.
