Not to worry I'll be here to keep reminding them :TU:

Am I missing the obvious here?

If Witter and Hatton fight, wouldn't Witter be entitled to a career biggest purse?

This is the biggest fight in his career and one of the biggest in recent British Boxing History.

That should lead to he him being rewarded appropriately! Any other argument is pointless.

Plus, any offer probably included options. A typical promoters trick when making offers for the sake of PR.

Of course he would. Hatton can't say that Witter demanded too much of the purse, before going on to fight Manny.

Anyway, the increased profit generated from a big fight more than makes up for the cut in share.

Everyone, the Board, everyone, should just boycott Hatton unless he fights WBC world champion and British rival Junior Witter for the #1 divisional spot - and if Witter wants 70%, he should have 70%, as he's the proven fighter here and the most historical champion. fornicate Oscar's mazgazine belt.

Can't go fornicating about now, he's been exposed many times and needs to proves himself (which I doubt he's capable of). Let him emigrate to America if he has to, and hail Witter as the top light-welter. Fighters fighting for fame and money without admitting they're fighting for fame and money shouldn't be welcome in my book. If he was honest enough to admit that Witter was too much risk it wouldn't be so bad.

If you look at Chris Eubank, he was honest in that he admitted that Herol Graham for example posed too much of a threat, and Roy Jones. Though in the pre-fight interview before Graham-Jackson, Eubank states that if Graham won he'd 'have to' fight him, not that he'd want to, but he'd 'have to' or he'd have little credibility...

The more I think about it the more I believe Hatton is doing all this to punish Junior for all his bad mouthing over the years.

I don't think Hatton fears Junior, but as we all know, aside from the fans, its a big risk, moderate reward fight.

But I can't agree with Ray Hatton on the "we had a handshake deal with Lazcano to fight him somewhere down the line, and we would like to honour that, as we are people of our word"

Roughly translated that means, we knew we could look good against this guy before and we still can now, plus he isn't asking for much money. Also we look like the good guys because we honour I word.

What about honouring your word when you "had Witter written in me contract"??

When the shoe fits.....

Incorrect, he was Euro champ.

So in your view, Witter shouldn't take the risk for anything less than 30% of a proposed purse - Considering he has got nothing on the table other than a strap that no one seems to want to fight him for, I personally feel he should grab the chance.

I said in an earlier post "Witters willing to take 30% which may still be abit high". Personally I feel both parties need to be realistic in the negotiations, Witters not going to take the fight for a pittance which a career high purse maybe (a trick that team Hatton has learnt from allegedly), but he may have to drop from 30%
Twinkle Toes wrote: After all it's an easy nights work for Witter isn't it
I don't know who would win the fight (I wouldn't mind finding out though), but it certainly won't be an easy nights work for whoever wins. I'd probably pick Witter by KO, but not with any degree of certainty.

What a great fight this would be for British Boxing, it even eclipses the Haye-Enzo fight which is the BIGGEST British fight in over a decade. If Hatton wanted the fight and the glory then he would make the fight happen, unfortunately he doesn't seem to have any intention of fighting JW as the multitude of excuses prove

there is every reason to make this fight. british world champions, "unification" (if you count the rag belt hatton has that lets him do what he wants), and - most importantly - there is severe needle between the two sides. there seems to be none with haye and enzo, who are about to drop bombs on each other. but there seems to be some real malice when it comes to hatton and witter.

hatton, i am sad to say, has been exposed a couple of times now. my old theory was that it was southpaws with right hooks he couldn't fight...witter has proven himself a good, genuinely world class fighter. the whole situation has gone beyond reasonable.

30% of the purse would represent a whopping payday for Witter, more than he's ever likely to earn, unless of course he beats Hatton and becomes a genuine star.

I think Witter needs to accept, whether fair or not, than economically, he is the opponent in this, despite having the belt. Hatton is the marketable star, and represents the cash cow.

Having said that, I am fully in agreement that Hatton's avoidance of Witter is becoming rather distasteful, and that it is to the benefit of boxing as a whole, and retrospectively to Hatton's career should he take it.

Ring up Ray Hatton if you want to know that info.

I'm not interested, point is, this is the first time we have had quotes attributed to the Hattons regarding Witter negotiations.

Witter has turned down a biggest purse offer and will continue in no mans land fighting whoever Hennessey can get in front of him.

The chance to fight Hatton has been put on the table for Witter - Even a numb nut like you should accpet that Witter has been foolish to turn it down.

I recall Judah taking a pittance for his fight against Corey Spinks - He did it to get back in the frame, which he did.

Witter should have done the same thing.

You really are thick. The Hattons say it so it must be true?

No mention of this from ANYWHERE else and the details need to be known before the likes of you pipe up.

I bet they wanted options. I bet the money offered was £0.01 more then his previous best.

Witter, like Froch and Thaxton is spending too much time shouting about who he isn't fighting and not worrying about the fact that he isn't fighting at all. These 3 are wasting the best years of their lives (financially speaking) by not fighting.
Hatton may have spent a long time defending the WBU belt and now he is flaunting the IBO belt, but he has made serious money and deserves credit for getting where he has by actually fighting.
Ok some of these fights may have been givens but at least he is going and getting the publicity by doing what he does best - fighting.
Witter deserves a shot, but ask the next person who walks past you who Junior Witter is, they haven't got a clue.
Ask them the same about Froch and Thaxton - same answer,
Then ask them about Khan, Calzaghe, Hatton.

Stan James has got odds up for Hatton-Lazcano

Hatton 1/12 to win!!!  I think Liverpool were 1/6 to beat Barnsley in the FA cup, so a Lazcano win is twice as unlikely as the biggest shock in the FA cup this century, says it all IMO.

Where as Witter-Hatton wouldn't be far off an even money match.

Cheers for fighting him over here though Ricky, that's repayed the fans for turning out in their droves for ya at the MEN for years and the breathtaking 20000+ that travelled to Las Vegas ticketless, "Man of the people". Still at least Ricky should earn/rob a few more Million pounds from the paying public, I heard his coffers were getting dry.

Hello Tinky Winky!

Now, I am about to post something posted by someone on this site t explain HATTONS OFFER!

Ask the perspn who reads for you to explain.

READ ON, YOU DUMB BITCH.

Spoke to someone very close to this situation, here is what really happened....

Hatton’s camp never ever made an offer for Witter to fight Hatton!

Witter’s promoter called the Hatton lawyer on Saturday Feb 16th,
Only to find him pissed out of his brains in a Las Vegas bar at five thirty in the morning. Apparently Mick offered to meet Ray Hatton and the lawyer the following week, the lawyer went on to say "I am telling you now if we meet Ricky holds all the Aces and if they ever do fight the most Witter would be offered was 100,000 pounds. Because nobody gives a eff about Witter and he brings eff all to the table".
There was never a specific date or a specific offer, just a drunken comment about what would be offered if they ever did meet.

Mick told him not to disrespect a great fighter like Witter, who has done things the hard way and has never turned down a challenge from anyone. Needless to say the conversation went downhill from there.

Then the Hatton’s and that lawyer chose to take that drunken pissed up bar room conversation and flog it to the media and public as if they made a legitimate offer and it was refused by Witter’s camp.

What a load of absolute shite!!!
To make a genuine offer you put it in writing and send it through by Fax, it’s that simple!

If you could hear the rumors going around the U.S. at the moment about what happened that particular night and the following afternoon with this big-mouthed lawyer,
You would realize how bullshit this whole situation really is and would agree this guy is a fool of the highest order. I am sure the story will come out soon enough.

So basically Witter has just reacted to the bullshit they put out in the press, because he knows there was nothing definite about the Lazcano fight. Witter will defiantly take the fight on May 24th at that price, because he is a proper fighter and is not a greedy whore.

SO, TINKY WINKY.

YOUR HERO AND HIS LAWYER ARE WASTING EVERYONES TIME!
