I agree with the above post. Basically when you get a guy like Hoppa he'll be milked for all hes worth, but like i have said the novelty of him fighting will slowerly wear thin and he'll have to step it up when that day happens its good night Hoppa

for someone who just started boxing a year or two ago he's hardly going to be up to any standard to take on someone who is in contention for a world title. the bloke is going to struggle because he debut his career too late.

i think he has done very well for himself considering, but yes they are going to have to throw him in the deep end soon if they can't find fighters of a similar class to his.

pawpaw wrote:all this talk of boxers taking their time is crap. jeff fenech won a world title after 6 pro fights and about 20 amatuer fights. mundine nearly won one after 10 pro fights and 3 amatuer fights.

how many fights has hoppa had? what? 11? if he was ever going to be a decent fighter, hed at least have a state title by now.
Hoppa to Fenech......Incomparable.

Hopoate has had 11 fights for 9 wins. One of his losses was against a kick boxer who had never boxed professionally. At 33 he is getting a bit long in the tooth for "prospect."

He will never be anything but a sideshow act.

Hoppa, who claims to be the unofficial champion of NSW, according to a press release today is to have a repeat bout against Ben Edwards.

This next fight is pencilled in for 31 May 2008, but their is no record of any promotion shown in the Schedule for this date.

Hoppa lasted only 89 seconds against Big Ben back on 13th April 2007, but the ring savvy Hoppa wants revenge this time.

Ben has not fought since flattening Hoppa, but if he can do the deed again on Hoppa's jaw, that's the end of the line for Hoppa and he'll be back at Brookvale Oval again. This time selling hot-dogs.

Beltane wrote:Hoppa was quite an elbow man in his footie days. Just ask Keith Galloway, from the Sharks, after he used it on Keith's jaw, which resulted in Hoppa finally being sacked by his club and rubbed out for good by the NRL.

But it's a bit different in the ring now from his NRL days, where Hoppa was expert at knuckling half-backs.
I think you missed the joke. I was inferring John DID know his opponent's arse from his elbow.

any chance of de mori calling out the limited, inexperienced, chinny, hoppa?

NOPE! too dangerous.... :TU:

De Mori would destroy him.

to be fair he is also more advanced too. would be good to watch though if hoppa had another dozen fights(preferably successful ones) under his belt.
but i think de mori is someone who solo should be fighting now.

Appears that Hoppa's repeat bout against Ben Edwards is a furphy.

This fight was pencilled in for 31 May 2008 (via a Hoppa press release), but there still is no record of such bout listed in the Schedule at the point of writing.

Have we seen the last of Hoppa?

Probably not. He has a big family and has to do something to support it. I think he has burnt all of his bridges in Rugby League.
