Posted by the pocket rocket "Compare his jibberish to Reg and Jim doing the Benn-McClellan fight, best fight of the 90's, British hero yet both were unbiased and gave excellent commentary throughout!!
Excellent commentary!?? Gutteridge was at his obnoxious best and dont forget he uttered the unforgivably stupid comment "he's quit, he's quit" of Mclellan.

Gutteridge was emotional and got carried away supporting Benn.

I agree that recently Richie Woodhall has been very partisan in his scoring in the calzaghe-Hopkins, Rees-Kotelnik fights.

And dont forget in the 80's and early 90's Jim Watt ruined many a fight moaning and whinging

The thing about John Rawlings is he is always spot on with his scoring and totally unpartisan. His radio play by play is amazing. he crams in so much detail to the listener.

BUT TO ANSWER THE QUESTION THE WORST EVER WAS JIM NEILY. WATCH A BOXING MATCH AND SEE IF HE EVER COMMENTS ON THE ACTION OCCURING . NO NEVER. HE SPENDS ALL THE FIGHT TALKING ABOUT TRHE BUILD UP AND RECORDS OF THE BOXERS. ANYTHING BUT DO HIS JOB AND COMMENT ON WHAT IS HAPPENING IN FRONT OF HIS EYES. AND HE ALWAYS CALLED A FIGHT A "CONTEST" AND GOES ON ABOUT THE RULES AS IF IT IS AN AMATEUR FIGHT. WORST SPORTS COMMENTATOR EVER HE LOST HIS VOICE THRU WANTON SHOUTING AT A COUPLE OF FIGHTS TOO. UTTER UNPROFFESIONAL JERK.

BEST ARE LAMPLEY,MERCHANT, FOREMAN AND THE VOICE OF HONESY ROY JONES JNR

Rawlings reads these forums!!! - be nice about him!!!

I remember him telling me that David Haye did not have a prayer against Enzo Maccarinelli at a lunch in Manchester once - when I had the audacity to disagree - you could almost see his mind doing overtime!!!
Spud you seem a nice man but stop name dropping with every effing post.

have you ever heard Lennox doing the HBO commentary, pretty bad. the 'Merch annoys me too, slow, drawling, and often nonsensical. I cant remember which fight it was but I heard Roy Jones once doing HBO and that was very good. Might have been a Toney fight. Toney would be great actually, for the comedy value anyway.

Adam Smith is pretty bad, he sounds like he's trying to copy Ian Darke all the time, without the knowledge, and then just repeats what Jim Watt says immediately afterwards.

When that Romanian knocked down Birayni in the first

'Ooh I'll give the Romanian a 10-9, theres no set rules about giving a 10-8 round'

It was a knockdown - a 10-8 round everywhere in the world, and Bob was giving rounds to Birayni even though he was slow and missing his shots. I didn't think Biryani  lost but the Romanian lad deserved a draw over 6 rounds at least.

Yeah mate, the French bill tonight... a decent show which makes a change from the tripe that usually gets shown from France!

Bob Mee was shocking though!

Lol. The only boxing commentators I really listen to are Gil Clancy, Teddy Atlas and Larry Merchant...and occasionally Jim Watt. The rest I take with a pinch of salt.

Well I have to say it was then it was a rare poor show from him. I didn't get to see the bill as I was having electricity problems.... I wanted to see Junior Abraham in action also.

Did you hear Holdsworth on the US bill they recently showed - in the main event both he and Bob scored it 6-4.... two of the judges agreed and one scored it 5-5.... when the draw decision was announced Holdsworth was like "good grief, a draw".... like penfold from danger mouse. One round different from his card though and some of the rounds were close.

I love Teddy Atlas - He's the best one out there in my opinion.

Larry Merchant can be a little wind up merchant! I'm suprised someone has't given him a post fight interview slap!

You missed nowt Stu - Abrahams was awful. He boxed this feller who looked like Lee Evans and had a Lee Evans style of boxing - If it wasn't for the last round the Frenchman would have took it but according to Bob Mee - Abrahams won it by two rounds!

Well, I disagree with that.... I think its his side kick who cannot read a fight. Or at least, these days doesn't seem to have the interest - cause as I said, I used to think he was good.

I love how Holdsworth states his round score as if its gospel fact.

"Of course the judges could have it completely wrong".

Or before a round starts he sighs like he's got to go back to screwing tops on toothpaste after tea break.

"Seventh round then"

A crock? Did you watch the Eurosport show yesterday?

I watched Birayni cuff and miss with shots and Bob 'God' Mee blethering
on ' I give that round to Biryani' WTF! Shut up Mee - you are giving me a headache!

The 1st round was a classic - Biryani was slow out of the blocks and was outworked and floored by the Romanian and Mee goes 'I give that a 10-9
to the Romanian - there are no rules in giving a 10-8 round apart from the knockdown Birayni won the round' and then in the very next sentence
he goes 'Biryani is very sluggish and slow and his timing is off - he shouldn't be fighting 6 rounders' and then he waffles on for a bit more 'He is starting to warm up' (round 5) but according to this boxing genius Biryani won the fight be two rounds! :TU:

So if I talk crock - at least I don't get paid for it unlike Bob Mee! 8)

Never been a fan of Holdsworth, reminds me too much of Jeremy Clarkson.
Bob Mee knows his stuff, but I never watch Eurosport these days, so no idea how he's bearing up, sitting in a small booth in the back of beyond with Holdsworth, watching an endless parade of Euro B fighters.

Johnny Nelson is a master of the bleeding obvious, and adds nothing to any show.

Jim Beam O'Neilly is rubbish too.

That's true.

Maybe he had an off night.

Bob's knowledge is incredible, you'll have to trust me on this one. And, normally, he has to rein Steve in who is naturally more ebullient, shall we say!
