Hopkins did 2 great things - holding onto the middleweight title and beating Trinidad. Trinidad would lead to a bit of a trend in that Hopkins beats smaller guys at the highest level. Greatness or great handicapping, making sure you fight smaller men?

Hatton beating Tszyu was a great achievement - Tszyu was easily as good as Hopkins. OK Ricky's career hasn't gone how many ppl wanted it to, but he's looking to fight another title holder - hardly amazing, but adequate and - as they say - "it makes sense."

Hattons strength advantage will not be there and neither will the speed and power...not even the stamina!

Hatton is on the way out, Bradley is on the way up, Bradley admittedly beat an out of sorts Witter, a crap Witter that sufaces from time to time, but something tells me Bradley can and will improve, Hattom peaked 2/3 years ago.

Hopkins has never been battered and is still one of the most effective fighters even today despite being boring!

Hopkins fighting smaller men is as bad or WORSE than Hatton. In fact, its worse.

Until boxing gets a real league table that means a fights b - the sports going down.

Hatton is massively successful, has held a genuine world title and he could well become one of the two premiere promoters in the UK. I have a feeling his career in promoting is going to last well beyond his own fights. In boxing, you don't make the best $$ for the best fights anymore, and Hatton has made more money than anyone in this country since Lennox Lewis. It doesn't mean the sport's going down the toilet - it just means that the guys that are in the epic fights are working harder for less pay. Money talks and if you could make the best money for the least risk, you would like anyone.

Ricky's career isn't compelling anymore but he has gone the way that makes the most money, building a home fan base, fighting WBU level fights which pay more than the domestic & Euro titles, facing the modern great at the right time, being able to work the crowd after hard fights, milking the various alphabet titles and then cashing it in with Mayweather/lengthy press tour/reality TV series.

If he wants to fill up stadiums and fight in NY, if these are his dreams who are we to mock it all? He's not going into the Hall of Fame for his fighting accomplishments, but he's been a good fighter and gave British boxing one of its great nights vs Tszyu. Hatton fights are an event, and DG's bitching cannot change that.

Hopkins could very well have an "off night" or look jaded or out of sorts if he fought in his opponent's backyard, if he fought on the terms of his opponent, rather than his own.

Bernard should have been booed out of boxing and blackballed by the networks after the Taylor fights & the Wright maul, because he's just spoiling on the run, not really trying to win bouts. He's been carried by Golden Boy who could put Mickey Mouse in a fight on HBO.


Bernard has no qualms fighting smaller men, DG, so perhaps Hatton should start? Casa, Marquez, Pacquiao are great names so why not come into big fights with a serious advantage?

Holding his left arm out as if he was holding a shield and clubbing with his right as if holding a sword. Like all great fighters, he got away with it (much like Ali using his left hand to pull fighters' heads down).

I just think Hatton deserves some respect because he's taken on and beaten some good, solid opposition here and overseas and coming up short against Mayweather was nothing to be embarrassed about, even if I did think he'd give PBF a tougher night's work.

Hatton is a dirty fighter.

Making room for his punches with his head up close.
Pulling fighters arms down with his gloves and head.
Holding way more than is allowed.

He was just schooled and shown what life is like at the elite level, he had never been there before.

KT was not 'elite' when Hatton fought him, KT is like Vitali, allowed to keep his belt/position due to past glories.

Even if Dave Parrish(?) or Mickey Van was the ref for PBF, Hatton would still have been destroyed even quicker.

PBF barely got out of 1st gear - he opened up maybe 3 times and Hatton was done!
