My sources told me that Kevin's injury was serious, likely to lead to a big delay before he could fight.
If that's not the case then yes, I do feel for Kevin and apologise if I've got it wrong.

My sources are normally very reliable.
As I've said on the other thread, if it is wrong to say he had sustained an injury leading to a prolonged absence from the ring, then he does have my sympathy.

This comes from Kevin himself - seems a bit of a gamble in pulling out has gone badly wrong for him...

Even if Kell wins he won't be the true champion in my eyes. Jones isn't a great boxer, he's just got an inflated record.

Kevin McIntyre could resort to legal action unless he is reinstated as British welterweight champion by the British Boxing Board of Control on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Scot has been forced to withdraw from two title defences because of a back injury, but believes he could be fit enough to take on Kell Brook in the last week of June - and therefore meeting the BBBC's original deadline for a bout.

However, with the cancellation of second proposed bout with Brook on June 14, his opponent is currently scheduled to take on Welshman Barrie Jones for the vacant title instead.

"I don't see how I can go quietly on this," McIntyre said. "The feedback I seem to be getting is that I should be favourite for mandatory position to challenge for the title.

"But why should I go back in as challenger? I've done absolutely nothing wrong." He went on: "I've got to look after number one and I was looking for the Board to be strong.

"I've been a professional boxer for 10 years, I've paid my licence fees for 10 years and I was looking at the Board to give me a bit of support, not the promoters. They have let me down," he added to PA Sport.

McIntyre is also adamant that the situation would never have arose in the first place if he was a bigger draw.

"I think if I was a high-profile boxer, such as Amir Khan, and [was] selling more tickets down south and with a bigger promoter behind me, there is no way in a million years this would have happened," he insisted.

"I feel as though I've been totally screwed. I'm disgusted."

The BBBC is due to meet in Cardiff on Wednesday.

I said all along he would be made mandatory.
Purse bids by 13th August, fight has to take place by November.
However - Kevin has only a week to prove his fitness to the board.
