I hope this stops Khans mouth from running. Let the real men fight for titles. Khan should stick to his washed up super featherweights.
What do you expect him to say ?
These days to have to even have a chance at the title, you got to talk loud. If you think Khan has does to much Trash-Talk, you obviously have not been around Boxing very long have you. :P

that's pretty much what I think, as well.

Of course he can, Gavin Rees won a bloody WBA title so to say eh CANT win a world title is daft. Also, he's 21(!!) years old! He's a far better prospect than hatton was at 21, probably boxing better than Calzaghe was at 21. The big problem isnt defence,, its chin. A gust of wind blows him over, this may improve with time, at the moment he doesnt stand a chance. But at 21 It's impossible to say never.

He can become a champion but can he beat a very good prime champion to gain his belt. I'm not so sure.

A dominant champion, that's not a question we can't answer yet.
first of all, against what kind of 'champion' exactly is khan capable of 'making a mark early' against without getting decapitated in return?
secondly, how exactly is he going to 'progress a lot' bearing in mind what we've seen so far from him?
Finally he hasnt even looked 'fast, strong and explosive' against frankie's bum of the month club!

Khan didnt appear to me to have his usual confidence going into this fight. I knew it was going to be a tough one for him because Gomez is one hell of a tough guy to beat. Maybe Khan knew that and he certainly did during the fight. People said the fight was a mismatch and Khan would take him out easily but I couldnt agree because I just knew Michael would fight like a tiger and he did. Now to answer the question and I have to say Khan would lose right now against the top men in a title fight. TBH I think Khan knows that and will be more patient now about a title challenge. I think he needs another 18 months to 2 years to improve his defense and side to side movement. Going in, in a straight line leaves him open to getting caught. Fast hands, his main asset are not going to be enough IMO to beat the men with titles. I think Khan really did learn from this fight and I am sure Warren knew he would. Frank knew Gomez would be a huge test which is what Khan needed. I think he has to listen to Frank, fight the right people for a while and prepare himself properly for a title challenge.

He just rushes at people throwing punches.
I was discussing this with a mate and we virtually agreed. Khan has faster hands than Mayweather and Judah but both of those fighters were more accurate with their punches.

I fail to understand how guys with a lot of knowledge about boxing who are normally so rational can turn so illogical when the subject of amir khan comes up.

Khan Judah, theres an interesting comparison. Plenty of talent, handspeed abd potential, lacking a hitable chin.

But think about it anyone can throw lots of un-educated punches rushing in at a certain level, and i would strongly dissagree that he punches faster than mayweather and judah because you never see them just rushing in throwing un-educated shots, is what you see is fast punches connecting people and taking them out. This does not happen with khan.
If they can bottle the punches into spurts, he'll come on leaps and bounds. He just needs to let go with 2s, 3s and 4s and then cover up. If he gets in with a fighter that has a comparison reach, all they need is a counter and it's lights out. From memory, which is always dubious, Limond did exactly that to him when he floored Amir.
Maybe it's because he's young. The sooner he gets someone like Mayweather on board, the better, as trainers must tell him this but I guess he just doesn't listen and goes for the KO.
An accurate counter puncher like Casamayor (although this skill is going with his age) or Campbell would have a field day.

Better sparring in the US, soon realise he isnt "golden gloves" after a sound thrashing in the wild card.

He can still be a world champ but needs to get rid of Powell asap, he's a fornicating tosser and holds FW's hand...
Khan has power, is quik and has lots of skill, his only real flaw is his chin. He can muster some kind of defence with a decent trainer, surely?

Do you really not think he could give Nate Campbell or Casamayor a lot of trouble in the first few rounds, given that the likes of Katsidis, who is basically a tough, but limited brawler almost had Casamayor out of there and looking in big trouble?
Khan will progress because the fights will get harder, and he will be forced to adapt, just like every other young prospect. He may even lose before he gets to a world title, and you know what, it's no bad thing.
Khan has flaws, which can be improved, but he is likely going to be easy to hit and hurt throughout his career by bigger punchers, but that is not to say he cannot win a world title.
I would give him a chance against Campbell now, he is so much quicker than most of the other lightweights out there.
We need to see him in with a genuine contender, or older former lightweight champion before we can be sure about his credentials, but he has world class speed and his punch accuraccy is exceptional considering his handspeed.
It's easy to knock Khan, and yes, he has had a relatively easy ride, but this is par for the course for our fighters over here. He is a prospect and therefore a little protected, but so what, that doesn't mean he can't go on to win a world title.

theres also an argument that styles make fights, and gomez is just all wrong for khan for this point in his career. If they fought again in 3 months time do you think the fight would be the same, or would khan be able to continue with the game plan he had in the first? If someone is going to stand and box amir I'd imagine they'd have more trouble than someone like gomez, or I suppose Kastidis.
he needs a big name trainer and bigger names in sparring to progress properly. How can a trainer spot the flaws when they're not being exposed in sparring?

Khan has a far longer reach and is a lot quicker than Katsidis.
You are not exchanging like for like Terry.
I am not even saying Khan would beay Casamayor, I'd give him a slim chance right now, because Casa is creaking and old looking, but that is not the point.
My point is that his speed of delivery and physical prowess give him a shot in the early rounds against most fighters, even if he ended up getting his arse kicked later in the fight.

To the first question, no. Casamayor is an old war horse who has seen a billion different styles. How has Khan got anything to remotely worry Joel? Khan's power has already been exposed- and he hasnt fought beyond fringe euro level! at least katsidis proved he had more power than his misleading record of banging out all those stiffs suggested because we know Casamayor is tough as hell.
To say that kahn would give him trouble in the first few rounds would imply he is actually able to stick around. Casamayor would hit him at some point, because khan's defence is leaky.and it would be over. This is a question of levels. I know some people on this board would say 'Oh but Casamayor isn't such a big hitter' - LEVELS. He has mixed in world class most of his career. He has that basic 'world' level of power that most top guys have. And he is way too good not to work out Khan in the first few rounds - as some totally inferior fighters already have come close to doing!
Casamayor would walk through those flurries, again as many other inferior fighters have managed, take some shots, hang tough and land some bombs. Khan might get up after the first one but it would be rinse and repeat until he's saved by the ref.
Nate Campbell - same story. These tough, experienced world level guys who can hit, have good defenses and have proven track records of hanging tough with the best are LEAGUES away from Amir, who has been decked by god knows who, struggled against hasbeens and not really manage to hurt or spark anyone to make me remotely think he has power that he can take to world level.
frailty of his kind does not translate well to top level competition. I would compare him to audley. and to those of you chatting about how he can 'improve', how he needs a new trainer, how he will be ready 'in 12 months time' as if that will make a difference, pleeease for the love of God wake up nothing will ever make this guy capable of competing at top level. If he does I will gladly eat my humble pie.

If graeme ealr can give Katsidis fits then I see no reason why Khan cant!
Lets not get ahead of ourselves here its not like the present crop of lightweights is gonna be challenging Duran in the all time stakes is it. Pacman (unproven as yet at lightweight) aside we have wily veterans who could get old at any moment (cambell / casmayor) and vulnerable sluggers in the top 5. (katsidis and juan diaz)
the guy i think would give Khan the most fits is Romanov.

I can see James's point to be fair. He could be given a shot at the easiest possible fighter to defeat but it is high risk. Gomez was struggling with Carl and Youseff, the fact he gave Khan such hell is a resounding alarm bell.
Khan is good for the publicity side of things in general, the public know him and like what they see but people are increasingly becoming bored of him. His past few fights have seen him talk up a world title tilt so the general punter expects it to happen, when it does not they think he is all hot air, in truth we know he is no where near ready for one just yet.
Throw in the fact that under Oliver Harrison we did see him tightening-up his defence only for his new 'defence improving trainer' to seemingly make him less defensively sound than he was before. Was it a shock to them that Gomez likes to throw a left to the body? Or head for that matter?
To answer the thread yes he will win a world title but he will take the route of lesser resistance towards the title, I don't think he will ever unify, unless the talent pool becomes shallow.
after all this you say he can??? your previous post said different.
The main sanctioning bodies may often not have the greatest fighters at the top of their ratings, but they are usually a certain class of fighter nonetheless.
It is a class of fighter leagues above that which Khan has faced and struggled with so far. (Juan Diaz, julio diaz, romanov etc. hell i would say a shot jesus chavez would beat kahn)
Saying 'but this crop hardly rivals duran' is totally irrelevant.

If Khan was the SRL he thinks he is, he would have been battering Gomez from pillar to post a year ago.
Getting put down by Gomez and Limond is a form line you don't want to take into world class waters.
Khan is good, has plenty of ability but isn't the once in a lifetime talent he's presented as.

even if you perceive him to have some natural ability (which is pretty clear) it just so happens that his ability is totally ineffective in the boxing ring at world level (and possibly lower).
