Fair points Fatboy, and we probably agree more than you think.
Regardless of ability Froch was 31 ten days ago.
In 2006 - 3 fights.
In 2007 - 2 fights
In 2008 - 1 fight (so far).
I'm not going to go into the level of opponents save to say that Froch MUST push on NOW and that is down to the Promotor given his ranking.
Watch this space.

I thnk Hennessy has been very slow in delivering so far, needed to get a mandatory position to have any chance, but being mandatory does not guarantee anything now.
Also if the fight does happen, what terms will it be on, relative short notice? Short money? Away from home? Outdoor arena etc
The next months are crucial for Hennessy's credability and I hope for Froch's sake that his faith is justified.
More importantly his peak may be already behind him and the longer he waits the worse it will get

Yes I think we probably do agree more than I orignally thought Twenty Six.

Your thoughts about the number of fights is a good one. I really do not want to be pedantic but Froch did have that serious injury and you and others will also remember the Tony Dodson fiasco where there were withdrawls and delays to that fight.

I will also stress my point again, that Hennessy for whatever reason has what seems to be people working against him within boxing, what I mean by that is that he has had more than his fair share of boxers pulling out of fights. You go through his best fighters and see how many of them have had changed opponents, Hennessy is either very unlucky or the conspiracy theorists like my points really do stick out.

I completely agree though regardless of whatever the truth is and regardless of how lucky or unlucky Hennessy is as a promoter in the case of Froch due to the many points you have brought out there can be no more "bad luck" stories.

How well received was Micks bill with the ITV suits. Any chance of another showcase?

He may be able to fill a 10,000 seater in and around his area with the right promotion/opponent. Shame he didnt get Manfredo first as that would have helped his profile somewhat even though its a poor fight

Who else is out there. Would Lucian Bute be interested? What about Andrade? A fight with Edison miranda might also be interesting as he is still a name and I cant imagine he would cost the earth, and he'd be wiling to travel. Plus they both got a mouths so the press conference would sell the fight

It is going to be very interesting to see if Hennessy can secure ITV money if he can there will definitely be no excuses about enough money to pay for a decent opponent as well as a decent undercard.

Renewing with Hennessy turned out to be a pretty stupid decision.

So you think Hayemaker would have the nouse to out manoeuvre Warren? OK, he ktfo'd Enzo, but that is completely different to swimming in the murky waters of boxing politics. He has never even promoted on his own before.

So, do you think that Warren had something to do with that?

After leaving Hennessey for FW , 26 seems to be getting a little bitter after rumours of an ITV deal for Hennessey. And after turning down a Bradley Pryce fight, Hayemaker is all the rage as he tries to jump ship again.
Hayemaker have yet to have a show and besides Haye and Patrick Maxwell and 2 amateurs who have they signed ?

Hennessy has got ITV in the bag.

Rumour has it that his competitor has not any got any deal at all, as of yesterday.

Personally i don't think he would have Ant.

I'm privvy to what his gameplan was for him....

...and it was more about fighting *ahem* 'winnable' fights, earning reasonable money with only a reasonable risk.

Anyway, we'll see what happens as of Wednesday when Lacy fights Mendoza.

Hennessey and Froch are genuinely prepared to sacrifice the short term gain (e.g. the payday and home advantage against Taylor) in favour of the long-term rewards (e.g. exposure and a name in America) on the basis that they believe Froch will go to America and smash Taylor.
I think Taylor beats Froch on a comfortable UD.

As opposed to fighting high risk, 50/50 fights that he is doing at the moment.........?

Beagle,
Do you mean the Pryce fight offered to him for a date 2 weeks after winning the title, and when everyone knew he wasn't even in the UK ??? Yeah right - all boxers are that fuckin stupid to believe that offer was for real.

This sounds reasonable enough. I think (hope) it's just a matter of time. Calzaghe keeping the WBO title has narrowed Taylor's options. Indeed, this Wednesday we'll know what Taylor is doing. You never know, Lacy might get cut/injured/lose vs Mendoza. Taylor would have little option but to fight Froch for the WBC.

Of course, everything could just drag out (like it does), and Froch is kept waiting. However, wouldn't the WBC want their sanctioning fees, matching Froch with someone else if Taylor delays?

It's worth considering, however, that Warren shows are often called off at the sneeze of an ant. And also that Maloney wasn't exactly able to fast track Moore to the European title (although we both probably know that there were other factors holding him back, also), & could do little but wait when Mormeck/King/Sulaiman kept Haye waiting for the WBC and WBA cruiser titles.

I think Mick has done a good job so far, considering he hasn't got the WBO in his back pocket.
The WBA/WBC/IBF route would have been near impossible, with big hometown stars like Mundine, Lacy and Kessler pretty much picking and choosing who they want, over the last couple of years, unless it was for a massive payday.

FW wouldn't have chucked Carl in with Calzaghe, so not sure what he'd have done with him. I doubt he'd have sent him over to take on any of the above mentioned fighters, far too risky for Frank.

Instead, about now, we'd probably see Carl getting a manufactured interim vacant title, along the lines of Alex Arthur's watered down B title.

Mighty,
Just answer me this mate.
Hand on heart, assuming you were able to see in the future, tell me what fights Carl will have between now and July 2009 under the Henessey banner.
Then consider again, if he were to change Promotor.
Would you get the same answer, a better answer by staying with Hennessey, or a better answer with another Promotor ?
Carl is no longer a spring chicken (31).
If he is the real deal then I want to see it NOW. I do believe his defensive frailties will be exposed at the higher level.
However I will be delighted to be proved wrong.
I dont want another if only story.

They fact he hasn't got influence with the these bodies or the cash to tempt the champions says to me he is not doing a good job.
A bigger promoter would have had him a shot 2-3 years ago

Well, it's now that counts. How different things would have been if Froch hadn't hurt his knee and suffered a ridiculous, double pullout by Inkin.
