Well he pretty much gave up the game after being booed out of the ring against Calvo - I remember at the time that he was visibly affected by the crowd reaction.
To this day I feel it had a bearing on his decision not to fight again.
Great fighter in my book though, and was awesome to watch - I'll never forget him schooling Belcastro in his 12th fight.
Could have and should have achieved more in his career in my opinion.

I agree to an extent. I also think that he could no longer be bothered to make the effort, and especially so if the fans ALWAYS expected him to fight a certain way, which being fair, we all did.
He was rich. He had a great career, and realistically, his achievements were far better than Hatton's or Calzone's. I don't care what ANYONE says.

There's several documentaries showing what a tosser he is. Did you see him getting his hair cut before the Barrera fight? Priceless.....
And the guy who will never walk again because of his speeding is good reason for many to dislike him, thus the prison sentence.
But I agree with the majority, he was brilliant in the ring and one of our best.

One of the best fighters the UK has ever produced... and without question the most entertaining.

He should have gone straight back in the gym, re-hired Brendan Ingle and got that rematch signed. Instead he got fat and bloated; what a waste.

still don't think he was a great fighter.
just a very good one.
fell short of greatness for me.
had too many flaws in his game.

He was a good fighter alright. I would have said more arrogant than charismatic. Maybe its me but I cant find anything charismatic about him. Can you? I would have said his personality would have detered people.

Well don't totally agree with you - noone likes to be hated. ANyway that is hardly the point - I am explaining why people are entertained by this video regardless of how good a boxer he was.

Think we need a bit of balance here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKev6o4NSfI
a 100% fully focused hungry Naz would have beaten Barrera, Morales, Paquio and Marquez

I def partially agree. He would have beaten the Barrera that got beat by Jones, but from that period Hamed got worse and Barrera developed into a much better fighter

You say we need a bit of balance and then say he would have beaten four hall of famers!
You may have a point about a 100% fully focused Naz possibly beating Marquez and Barrera, but not Pac Man and Morales at their peaks. And was he not focused on Barrera? Are we saying this in hindsight because he was given a masterclass?

The problem - well a major problem that night - was that too much was made of the losses to Junior Jones. He thought he was going to just KO Barrera and had no plan B.
Barrera boxed his head off.

Most of the Anti-Naz brigade wanted to see him get KO'd because he was not White.
Come on lets face it, People loved him for his entertainment, but some hated the fact he was not white.
I'm not saying it's always the case with those that dislike him though.
Im "Deluded" ? You only need to read the comments of that Video and see which guys hated him and what they said.

Same people who hate Amir Khan. For what other reason?
Talented, British, and having met him personally I found him to be a lovely bloke. Shame about the Harrison situation I admit, but what's not to like? Exciting fights, touch of arrogance, quick hands, good power - though not as good as Naz - and he's young and fresh.
Naz v Robinson is a good example. I wanted Robinson to win, for obvious reasons, and was amazed at how brilliantly Hamed took Steve apart. A lot of people wanted the little Pakistani (though he's of Yemen descent) to get a hiding that night. Sad, but true.

PS I know not everyone hates Khan for that reason, but a lot do..........it's the way of the world sadly, even in 2008.

Personally I hated Hamed - nothing to do with his colour or nationality. I cheered after Barrera beat him.
Naz had a distictively arrogant way about him and the way he did his business in the ring. He had absolutely no respect for the his opponent to the point of humiliation when he could have done the job in a more befitting manner in line with the great history of the sport.
There will be many on here that came into boxing on the back of Hamed's exploits. I never cared for it then and still don't. He's a love him or hate character. I'm the latter. I always felt that the ring walks and their length left his opponents totally out of sorts - it's meant to be a boxing contest FFS not a circus carnival.
He remains the only British fighter that I have never supported in a world title fight.

It did get beyond a joke towards the end, I agree.
The Barrera and McCullough entrances in particular were just ridiculous.

Agreed I hate to say it, but I also think it stems from the fact that he's Asian. Froch is more cocky and arrogant than Khan, but doesn't suffer the same vitriol.

I always liked Hamed's arrogance and extremely high self confidence. He was one of the main reason I kept following boxing through my stroppy teenage years. And although it's easy for observer1 to say it, the reason a lot of people don't like Khan and Hamed is because they are "pakis" you're deluding yourself if you think otherwise
Though in saying that there is a lot not to like about Hamed currently

Tbh I dont like him because he seems like he is a bit an arsehole. Here in Ireland people didnt like him for that reason. I truly dont think that people hated him on a racial basis , but I may be wrong , there may be different attitudes across the water. I have heard people saying things like "who does he think he is spouting all that crap about allah" which I find disgracful and is no different than a christian thanking his god.
