The trouble with Sullivan is we have no film of him...so
we really do not know what he was like...BUT going by
what others of the era fought like...
I really do not buy into the claims that he could throw
a locomotive with one arm or that he bench pressed two
cows at once....I do however believe that he beat up a
heap of local toughs one after the other...but that being
said my brother has done that a few times with too much
bourbon in his belly...
I think when doing hypotheticals we should use imagination
and transplant them to a neutral place where they fight..

Less the mini-dreadlocks.

I would hope that people are smart enough not to think that Chris Byrd was as good as Jack Johnson.

No Byrd would never have been as good on stage as Johnson.

No... if he were born two-and-a-half decades ago, and grew up with today's high fat diet in early infant hood, there is a good chance he would have grown up to be at least 6"3" and 230 lbs, if not bigger.
If Chris Byrd were born back in JJ's time, we'd be talking about that frustrating southpaw middleweight contender/preacher who wasn't as good as Tiger Flowers but gave Ketchel a hard time.
