i thought it was lot better than the second heavyweight one
a Knockout , Few cuts , close decisions and dodgy decision ( which cost me potential cash ) and a Bami Flying out the ring
Would like to see a Lightweight one , get gomez in there , Martin watson and few others about the scene to pick from

maybe its where you only had one puncher with Bami in there, with the Heavywieghts Ko's or knockdowns are more common, so adds to excitment.
Think for the middleweights , Barry Hearn should look at getting a couple more decent punchers in there, boxers such as Darren McDermott, Cello Renda, Patrick J. Maxwell.
Agreed - the irony being is that it was a showcase for what the amateurs SHOULD be.

He could but it would be one hell of a risk. He would have to win three fights on his debut, not impossible but a big ask of him.
Between you 2 you've got over 6000 posts but it seems you dont know much about Boxing
No disrespct but This Prizefigher is for boxer's either fighter's on the downword curve or Area Champion etc. DeGale would be on more 80 - 100G on his 1st fight, he is a class above these fighter's already....
Lomax done well in the finals done as he pleased against Bami.
SD Ian John Lewis didnt even give Lomax a Round
Minter had a bad 1st round, very good 2nd and I thought he'd do the same in the last but he didnt

Fella, it's you who doesn't seem to know much as they're clearly talking about a hypothetical situation rather than seriously suggesting that Degale would participate.

thought Lomax definitely deserved to win, he had a much
more difficult route to the final.
I'm now a Lomax fan, seems a very spirited fella and with
a bit of fine tuning I'd give him more than a good chance
against any welter in britian. I thought he beat wright, who was the man
I picked to win the tournament.

This post is spot on. The reason there wasn't a Kell Brook, a John O'Donnell, a Jamie Cox etc in this competition is because a fighter who is destined for great things or already holds a prestigious belt/reputation wouldn't want to put all that on the line for a mere 25k. I think Prizefighter is a great entertainment, but the level of competition is probably always going to be boxers on the slide or whose career have stalled and area champions. You may get the odd exception, but no, I can't see a James Degale ever being in a Prizefighter.
For the record I'm really pleased that Michael Lomax won. From what I've heard he's had a few problems in his life and it's great that his stock has now gone up. I think his fragile skin and lack of power will find him out, but I think he should get a shot at the British title within the next twelve months.

25k is a lot. Would a boxer get that much for a British title fight at welter?
Kell Brook seems the most likely to make waves IMO.

What you know in boxing, you lack in manners. Any answer from me would have recognised they were talking about a hypothetical scenario rather than disparaging them and their level of boxing knowledge.

its amazing how bitter people get when they lose money on a fight, if you didn't have money on the fight you probably would see a different result. I was sitting ringside last night and alan minter and ross minter's entourage where screaming and shouting about the minter-wright decision being a joke, in a fight that wright clearly won. Then some of you guys on here are creating about the lomax-wright decison. This is how i saw it:
Lomax clearly won the first, and the 2nd and the third were far too close to call with lomax producing the workrate, on which he probably got the decison.
So as far as saying wright was cheated is slightly exaggerated. The fight could have gone either way, and if it did there could be no arguments.

Just to clear things up , it was a hypothetical question about DeGale coming straight in the prizefighter competition, but at the time of the origanal post i didn't know how to spell 'hypothetical', i would like to thank all the other posters who used the word 'hypothetical' so i could now include it in this post about the hypothetical DeGale post i made earlier.
I shall now use my new favourite word 'hypothetical' alot more.

Thats been Wright's problem he just doesn't win rounds big, so he ends up losing some fights when its a close decision.
I thought he just edged the one with Lomax last night, but it wasn't a robbery that Lomax won.
There wasn't alot in it, niether one of them did much clean work.

The problem with prizefighter is that it is over three rounds. Yes, I know they do this because a fighter has potentially 9 rounds to fight during an evening, but the format just seems wrong for professionals.
The professional scoring system isn't really suited to three round fights.

Why not? you either win the round, lose it or draw. Simple as that.
The only thing i disagree with is they do not score a 10-8 round for a knockdown, although they did in the lomax-dickson fight, they wasn't supposed to. Seems a bit strange that one.

We all know the pro game is a very different one to the amateurs. Making your debut and having to win three times in one night, would be difficult no matter how good you were as an amateur. Try not to be rude, I have followed boxing for more years than you have been alive, over 50 years to be more precise, and I think I have picked up a bit of knowledge along the way.

Il try not to be rude as you must be getting soft in your Old Age

Na im only kidding...
Degale has been boxing at such a High Level for some Years now, been in with the best in the world, I dont think doing 3 3's in one night at PrizeFighter Level of Opponents would be a Problem for him..

Well lets hope this guy really is the real deal. We do need some fresh blood comming through as Calzage is retiring and Hatton probably will in maybe a couple of years.

I've just watched the Prizefighter (I missed it live)- enjoyable, but .. its hard to say really... just lacks a "edge". Does anyone know what I mean by that? Nothing really wrong with it, but equally nothing particularly exciting about it either.

It needs bigger names. It's generally good TV and a great night out, but extra class would make it something special. There are plenty of decent Middleweights around so it was a shame to only see a couple of names I know for the 22nd of November tournament. I have the flyer in front of me right now.
Danny Butler
Craig Denton
Steve Ede
George Katsimpas
Martin Murray
Joe Rea
Cello Renda
Paul Samuels

Yeah, although I guess in the scheme of things the money is going to limit the level of the participants.
I guess if it got bigger, and was able to offer a bigger prize, they could expand to include international fighters- that would add something to it.
The thing with tournaments is that it is always more exciting for the fan if you want someone to win- eg the English one. Thats why the UK V USA contender was a good show.
These last prizefighters I have had no particular preference for any of the fighters- I'm a "neutral" so it is really more of a casual interest.
