Don't put ideas into Promoter's heads :shame:

Well Small can thank the referee (forget who) that saved him against Pryce, because he was starting to get destroyed and has clearly been saved to fight another day.

Just have a feeling Small might be getting Rhodes at the right time and I feel he might take over and stop the Sheffield man late on.

Before anyone jumps on me, I have nothing to back this up with and it's just a bit of a hunch :D

Hey Steve you have got a right to your opinion - the thing is I was saying the same sort of thing to someone on the phone on Xmas Eve - the thing is the other way round!!!

What I really want from this fight is Anthony Small to turn up!!! - I am being serious here - you say you have a hunch - mine is Steve that Anthony Small or someone might try to take him another route for whatever reasons they have!!! - if that happens it will be a shame because it is a cracking fight and the winner will have a decent future to look forward to.

I want to get excited by the fight I really do - but - to see Anthony Small and Ryan Rhodes in the opposing corners will be good enough for me!!!

Come on Team Small and come on Mr W arren join in the party :TU:

Just been looking at the odds for this fight and they've surprisingly (IMO) got this as an even fight (10/11 for both fighters). I'm an Anthony Small fan, but I'd be very surprised to see him come away with the win here

(all bets placed at their owners risk)

I have a similar hunch- either that Small won't turn up, or that ticket sales for this will be low (its a big venue) and Hayemaker start to panic a bit at a potentially large loss and the whole thing gets scrapped.

For sure, there will be some good Liverpool fighters on the bill, but they are being optomisitc I think if they reckon they can fill a venue like this at the moment. The main event is an excellent fight, with a lot of appeal to fans like us, but I'm not sure how popular though it would be for locals, as neither boxer is from Liverpool.

Small V Rhodes would be a great main event in a venue in Sheffield , but unless they can pull off some top local fighters in title fights on the undercard I think it will fall through.

But please Hayemaker- prove me wrong!

Fair play to Hayemaker for going for it, but I reckon this draws 2000 no more.

Perhaps David Haye will have a fight on the card now that it seems Vitali is fighting Gomez on March 21. Vitali won't want to fight again in June.

Whicker,
First of all the arena will be set out for 4500.
Secondly, tickets will be competitively priced.
Thirdly there is a high contingent of popular Liverpool boxers on the bill.
Finally, the bill has yet to be finalised so watch this space.
Rhodes will fight on the 28th - who is in the other corner remains to be seen.
Not an earthly will this bill get squashed, and I think ticket sales will be good.
It's a Hayemaker show, not ............

So they're closing off the top tier?
When do tickets go on sale?

I have it that the Echo arena holds around 11 000, although I guess they could portion part of it off, or as someone has suggested, close the top tier.

Yeah, I do hope it is a success for them- Liverpool is a good boxing city, I just feel it is optomistic to use this venue.

I think the key will be the quality of the other fights too, although personally I'd go just for the Rhodes V Small fight (fingers crossed it happens!)

I see everyone is copying me now.

I will say it again. This fight will not happen.

If I am wrong, and it does, 4500 is HUGELY optimisic.

Rhodes and Small are decent, but not great sellers. I estimate Rhodes for this would do 500 at most, Small 150.

It would need a cracking undercard or chief top of the bill to fill that place.

Same old story... new promoter comes along, over estimates the number of tickets he can sell. Deludes himself he can 'do it better'. Gets his fingers burned 38 times and finally changes his outlook.

That is why the long time incumbents, (Warren, Maloney and Hearn), do how they do. Low cost, smallest venue possible unless they land a real marquee number.

It's still not gone on sale, which makes me think you are right.
Derry Mathews ain't that big of a draw and I'm not convinced Rhodes-Small will sell in Liverpool.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them shift it to the Everton Park Sports Centre if it does come off.

A few local boys on the undercard perhaps could get things moving?

Just thinking, with the economic climate being what it is the Echo arena might have done them a good deal, ie cheaper than usual. I suppose if they can sell more tickets at a lower price it is economical too.

But to be honest, I think it is more likely the venue will shift. Sports Notwork put on a show in December , the main draw being local Liverpool boys, and the crowd was something like 400.

I'm going, but not buying my ticket in advance unless I'm very confident!

Looks like David Haye will be on this show now. Interesting how they get this arena booked and also talk about a big Klit fight- I think they are hedging their bets!

F**k me, Dogbreath but will you give it a rest.
That post is dated 06-01-09.
The fight bill was on 28-03-09.
I might be good, but predicting a chest infection 7 weeks in advance would even be stretching my expertise.
Aside from that you know how boxing works.
Bills change, illnesses occur, injuries occur etc - even up to the final week of a show.
Now just for the public record - who do you have issues with ?
Me or Rhodes ?
Come on out of your kennel, be a good boy, give us a paw, and you never know you might get a squeaky toy to chase.
Other than that, stop fuckin stalking my posts.

Thought so Beagle.
Still shouting the odds on other threads but can't answer a straight forward question.
