Amusing. I last saw Conk at a Wood world title fight up in Sheffield. A good lad.

Pleased to hear about Bob, a true gentleman.

I was hoping for a big BM get-together at Warrior's first world title fight.... Might have to settle for a rematch between Moochie & the Gasman.

Thanks Mark it sounds like that site has some real problems at the moment which is a shame as it does have some good posters. I just went back to check on my eastside thread which was deleted and wanted to post a thread asking why but couldnt log in which i guess means i'm banned?

I started out what now feels like 10 years ago (probably about 8 in reality) on the Seconds Out forum. I really enjoyed that forum until Spud came along and fcuked it into the ground.

With that closed down i then found the ESB forum, this was the place all the lost soles from the SO forum were being directed and with a lot of old familiar names being present I found it to be reasonably ok, but if my memory serves me right, Spud also fcuked this one into the ground, at least for some time.

About 5 or 6 years ago i settled on here and have not felt the need to post anywhere else since. Almost everyday i visit Seconds Out, Fight News and then Boxing Scene in that order (though BS is often very inaccurate with their news IMO). I then pop onto Boxrec for a banter as i have few people in my life that i can talk boxing with. Occasionally i also visit BBC/Sport, Sporting Life and then some other random sites to name but a few.

Of the 10 or so years that i've been posting on boxing forums i have very rarely paid any attention to the yank sections. I find them to be intolerable. Every second poster seems like a retard, i just can’t bare to read that shit, never mind contribute to it!

As a finishing note:

Although I still really enjoy posting on Boxrec, I do feel it has gone down hill ever so slightly over the last year. Any big piece of news and we’d be on here discussing it from all kinds of angles, now were lucky to see a single thread on some subjects. I’ve visited here many times of late and often wondered why there is no thread on this or that. Perhaps its just me though, maybe I’m having some sort of mid-life crisis and need to lighten up, smoke some banana skins of summitt :DDD

Do you mean here in "British Boxing" or are you including the "Current Scene" in your statement? I'm happy to post more news in here if you'd like. It would only take a couple of seconds more than reading it.

Wotcha Lionel, the Tooting location should have been a giveaway :TU:
Cheers matey! If there's another boxing nut in Tooting I haven't found him (or her) yet.

He is alive, well, and currently supplies the Internet with millions of fights, gotta love old BC.

I met Gill way back when but have not heard/seen from him since, Matt W and Hook are still about, not spoken to Lee for a while. Is Neil still, well Neilish!?

I have fond memories of BM, not least creating Coochie (when I would be prone to the odd name chance) and then passing the password onto like-minded posters, then Conky ruined it all by getting all moral on me.

Anyone still got the Coochieisawally log in details? Ah, the japes we had.
Yeah BC Bob - a real gentleman. I think it was Trish who drove him out. Trish was bonkers but fascinating in a car crash kind of way. I imagine he or she died in a hail of bullets in a Bronx alleyway. BigDog was another fine poster that I had the pleasure of meeting here in London. Signing up to fight in Iraq didn't do his post count any good though.

Lionel - does BC still post on any of the forums? Would love to say hello to him if he does.

You seem an intelligent guy - just form your own opinion and get on with it.
After all, asking the question on Boxrec about Boxrec ain't exactly going to get you a flood of "its shit" comments is it ?!?
Very true.....

But i was hoping that i would encounter some degree of objectivity in my research :DDD

JAWS wrote:hey guys, i have been reading Uk boxing forums for a couple of years now but never post. from what i see there are 3 main forums in the UK which are eastside, Doghouse and boxrec and all have their good and bad points. the main reason of this thread is to find out what people think of other forums and who posts on more than the one (i believe the term is forum whore). here are my opinions are the 3 main forums:

1. eastside: this is by far the busiest of the three and seems to have the youngest members. the uk forum has a mix of good and bad posters with robpalmer seeming to be one of the best and knowledgeable. this site is always up on the whats happening and its a shame sometimes a few ruin it for others. i noticed on this site a few boxers actually post as does Steve Bunce.
2. Doghouse: this at the moment is the quietest of the three forums which i think is due to all the pop ups they used to have. i notice there that posters seem a lot old than those on other sites and it has a family feel with a hardcore 10 or so always debating at quite a decent level. the site however does crash when there is a lot of traffic but also has decent Prediction league which seems more successful than those on other sites. Though i dont think many boxers post here Steve Bunce is more active here than other forums which i imagine has something to do with his link to the prediction league.
3. Boxrec: this is a funny forum which seems to contain some real hardcore fans who know their stuff which at times boarders on the lines of unhealthy. out of all the forums this would be the most Knowledgeable but there are a few idiots still. they too tried a prediction league which disappeared but a lot of boxers post on there the most recent being Darren Sutherland who comes across as a decent guy.

one thing which is the same on all three sites is that the American or world boxing sections drives uk fans nuts. ha ha ha

as i said i like to read all three forums and just wanted to know peoples thoughts on the others they dont use or maybe they do. i will post this on all three forums and see what comes back. now give me a break as it has taken me 45 mins to type this message with my one finger typing skills.

thanks

I am a member of both DHB and have just joined this site....

I tend to reside in the DHB (Uk section), which has some very knowledgeable posters, the atmosphere is very good and the majority of posts or threads are well though out, with plenty of passion and humour mixed for good measure :D

Eastside boxing never appealed to me at all, primarily, because of the atitude of the vast majority of posters. Whenever i read posts, they were all abusive in some way, the general boxing knowledge and insight was horrendous and so i kept my distance. Having read the other posts on here, i see that there is a consensus of opinion concerning the maturity level at Eastside.

This site seems very good. It's set out very well, is user-friendly and the posters seem a good bunch of people, who in the main are mature and contribute well to the site. The level of knowledge seems high and i look forward to debating in this forum. I know one or two from DHB and so far have encountered Hitman Hatton, DG and BigMark and no doubt i'll bump into a few more names along the way....

Summary

DOGHOUSE : Very Good, but has major technical issues, needs revamping and modernising

EASTSIDE : Don't know much about the site in terms of technicalities, but the posters are shmucks

BOXREC : Very good site, user friendly, appealing lay-out, knowledgable posters, impressed

Word up, Quixall!

It is I- DG!

Remember - DG brings the news!

I have been mamber here for many years!

Boxrec was my first then...

Eastside until Spuddy mashed it down.

Then Doghouse then back to the original home of DG -Boxrec.

Interesting facts?

I startd the trend to call F-rank Warren 'Fwank' while on ESB and it has spread from Eastside to World wide. :D

ALSO, I startd the legendary thread on ESB and stayred many copy cat threads.....

'Who wins in a fight? A diseased Rat or a Cat with no head?

Legendary!

I've posted on 3 forums, inc this one

Seconds out was great, similar to this one and I was gutted when it closed down.
ESB was fun but they banned me!!
This one is clearly better and you can see this by the amount of fighters and journalists who post here. In comparison people are far more knowledgable and intelligent. At worst it is a bit of an anoraks site but that is a real plus for myself.

Ah yes, how could we forget Trish. What a character. He'd always describe in fine detail what he was cooking/drinkin. A lunatic certainly.

I used to go by the name of WBC for a while over at BM. Was my first forum also. Now its just Boxrec/Ricky Hatton.
