Boxing is an individual sport, they don't represent their countries as professionals like in the amateurs.
I couldn't give a monkeys where a fighter comes from, if I like them then I support them, if I don't then I don't support them.
Easy

But you contribute to a forum called British boxing! One would think you would then want British boxing to succeed and wouldn't be so narrow-minded to think that this can be done without boxers with name recognition who can gain appeal outside a narrow boxing fan base.
Where would boxing be in this country now without Calzaghe, Hatton, Haye and Khan, yet half the people on here seem to want to see these guys get beaten, or just badmouth them.
Yet a guy like DeGale goes to the Olympics and wins gold in front of millions on BBC and that inspires hundreds and hundreds of kids to take up the sport, it means boxing is held up by the Government as a good thing, rather than listening to the BMA, who want it banned.
Boxing is healthier when it is done in front of thousands, rather then 20 mates from the pub. And this is where Warren doesn't get enough credit. Why does he succeed more than others? Some might feel he is bad for the sport, some are just jealous of his success. But no one can deny how hard he works.
DeGale has done his due by British boxing and I want him to succeed and I have a low opinion of anyone who slags him off before he has even stepped into a professional ring.
he makes his own slagging off by acting the way he does hes a tit pure and simple british boxers act like prfessionals look at hatton an ambassador of the sport hate saying it but even amir khan acts like a true pro but degale thinks and acts like a tit imo ide be alot happier if he won that medal for iraq and represent them then say hes british because lots of british fans think he is a complete and utter bellend and
he can imo shove that medal were the sun dont shine the cocky arragent scumbag.
Thats the thing I mean how many olympic medalists, boxers even do you see in the NOTW bragging about how many women they've had??? Its unprofessional and gives out the wrong signal. If you ask me FW should get some of his boxers PR's because they have no idea what to say and how to act in the media.

I totally agree.
I dread to think what the majority of this forum would have thought about Ali if they were round at the time

But Ali was hated anyway, it's only as his career went on that he became loved and better appreciated.

I thought that was mainly in the US, I thought he was popular on the saner side of the pond. His fights used to draw massive viewing figures over here anyway, but whether people were tuning in to see him win or to get beat is debatable. My Dad thought Ali was great at the time, so that's probably why I like the cocky boxers.
Most of the cockiness is tongue-in-cheek humour anyway, I don't see them acting in the same manner when they're down Tescos. Boxers are in the self-publicising business, they have to try and attract interest in themselves

Bragging how many women he has had??!!
Are you that stupid, that you don't realise that his "bragging" came from a bunch of questions asking him lots of probling questions? He give an interview to the NOTW and they end up asking him about his sex life. I doubt he brought it up.
He's a young lad and you slag him off because off one interview. Yes,he probably would have been wiser saying he didn't want to talk about that, but he hardly phoned up the News of the World bragging.
And since when are you so bothered about a boxer's sex life. Hatton talked about his drinking and sex life all the time. He's young, single, good luck to him.

Acting like a cock isn't a bad thing anyway because it will draw fans and haters kind of like Naz did, people will actually pay to see somebody get knocked out and the more people who pay then the more money he makes. I don't have a problem with Degale, I hope he does well but I don't think he will.

Maybe he never brought it up but my point is he didnt come across well in that interview at all. So what if the NOFW asked him about it, they asked amir khan about his sex life but he doesnt go around bragging about who hes bonked does he?
God if you thought amirs ego was bad you aint seen nothing yet.
