Marc Kirk drove towards oncoming traffic on the motorway near Rochdale in Greater Manchester after having an argument with his girlfriend.

CCTV footage shows other vehicles slam on their brakes as Kirk, 20, does a U-turn and a handbrake turn in the middle of the carriageway.

He then speeds back to the hard-shoulder and carries out a second handbrake turn, leaving the car again facing on-coming traffic.

Manchester Crown Court heard that when a passing patrol car stopped Kirk, he repeatedly punched an officer in the face and the pair ended up rolling across the hard-shoulder.

Kirk was arrested and later admitted dangerous driving and assault.

Anything but prison is a disgrace, going on a rampage in a car is like going on a rampage with a gun and then he assaults a copper.

The guys is only a teenager though - he should be given an opportunity to straighten himself out - sending him to Jail isn't going to acheive that is it. He'll come out having mixed with career criminals and be worse than he went in.

Going on a rampage with a gun is reckless driving, which is hardly the same offence as firing a gun into a crowd randomly, which is discharging a weapon unlawfully and attempting to wound and possibly attempted murder.

If he was an adult, he would proabably have gotten a jail term, it's not like he killed anyone or caused GBH, he drove around like a lunatic and twatted a policemen. Yes he could have caused a lot of damage etc, but the worst that resulted was a black eye or split lip.

If he reoffends, I'm sure he'll get a jail term.

They don't always come out worse. I know people who've hated it and made sure they never went back.

Need to educate them whilst they are in Prison too.

You get plenty of opportunities for education and doing trades in nick, more so than on the outside and it's free too

You get plenty of opportunities of education and trade training in the army too and you get paid for it so why not encourage kids to go there instead? It didn't do me any harm, infact I'd probably be in prison if I didn't join the army.

Rather than spending vast amounts of money to educate criminals maybe they should put more of it into schools and do their best to provide kids with the best possible education so that they don't end up going down the road towards crime. It's a bit late trying to educate somebody when they've put some poor f**ker on a morgue slab.

Mmmm I wonder James what you would say if , he would off run into a oncoming car and killed your wife , daughter . Could imagine it would be far different than ,--- He's only a teenager --- He should be given the oppurtunity to straighten out.

They see the average person has being week and the law has a joke. . But being young instead off 3 years non parole i do agree a 5 year army sentence would suffice, and i would send them too a war zone.
