Fair enough. I'm sticking with the 152 lbs weight though. Hatton was 149 lbs on the night against Castillo.HPI wrote:I couldnt care less what HBO said, there are videos on you tube of hatton in the changing rooms before the malignaggi fight and he states he had put on 14lbs since the weigh in. Thats 154lb in totalAsterix wrote:No, Hatton was 152 lbs (for HBO's weigh in). Pacquiao will weigh close to 150 lbs when they fight. Weight will not determine the winner.
Hatton plans to heavily outweigh Pacquaio to be P4P

Guess thats what I'm looking to see. Not sure if it is a bomb at 140 or not, it did enough damage though to Make Oscar stop and think a bit and bagned him up enough to make him quit. It is a sneaky little bugger and Ricky will get hit with something he doesn't see coming. Its an intangible I'm interested to see pan out.sg1985 wrote:is it a bomb at 140 though?Colesy wrote:Yep, weights got sod all to do with this fight.
If Hatton can take Pac Mans left hand he will win a thriller down the stretch. At some point, probably early he will be caught with it. Will be very interesting to see what happens after that bomb lands.

Have you watched Hatton box at LWW and WW?observer1 wrote:Why does Hatton not fight at Welter Weight then ?

Exactly what I was thinking.Finch wrote:Every time Hatton opens his mouth, the more and more i want him to get beat.
At a guess i would say if Hatton goes into the ring at 154 he weighs more than most Welterweights do on fight night ? If that's the case, then his "avoidance" of this division makes him more of a fraud.
Well, I'm not so harsh as to call him a fraud or wanting him to get beat, but I've always thought his "welterweight is too big" excuse was a bit hollow, and his stance here proves that.
His welterweight matches were just difficult for him stylistically. Mayweather started out as a super-featherweight but he's too big for a career light-welter?

theres no need to educate me on Greg page, Ive interviewed and still speak to his wife Patricia.DG. wrote:J wrote:tell greg page that
Is very rare that this happens to the heavyweights because they do not need to drain.
Greg Page was a combination of age and punishment.
And it is very rare in the heavyweight division. Its a proven fact that the lower weight fighters are more at risk.
Its also proven that it is weight making that causes the real long term damage/trauma in Boxing.
Yes he was ageing but actually the sitation was as much to do with the lack of oxygen and medical facitilties at ringside.
Pat to this day thinks that the whole sorry saga could have been much improved if there were the correct facilities available.
Hence they successfully sued the relevant comission recently.
anyway my point was Hweights arent totally exempt from these tragedies but yes agree with you that lower weights are at a higher risk through draining.

Bacon, eggs, fried bread and beans all washed down with a pint of Guinness.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Saw this on another site and thought it was ironic Hatton plans on being a weight class above Pacquaio on fight night AND claims to be fighting for the P4P championship. IMO concentration on size too much over boxing skills could be his downfall. Here it is:
The 30-year-old IBO light-welterweight champion said: "I think my size will make a difference.
"Manny beat Oscar De La Hoya in his last fight but, with all due respect to my friend and promoter, I think anyone could have beaten him that night.
"Oscar got in the ring at 147lbs but I'll be 154. I'll be the biggest fighter Manny has ever faced."
WTF? What the hell is this? Psychological warfare? If Hatton weighs in at 140 lbs, which he will have to without a single lb above. He thinks he's gonna gain 14 lbs (1 stone) by fight time? If I'm not mistaken the official weigh in is only 24 hours between then and fight time, no?
Surely this is madness. Won't he be bloated?

No one said Heavyweights were 'exempt' - I said it is very rare and it IS!
Re: Hatton plans to heavily outweigh Pacquaio to be P4P
Mayweather's height, reach & style give him a much better chance than Hatton at welterweight. Mayweather could almost certainly make light welterweight if he wanted to.oliverfennell wrote:Exactly what I was thinking.Finch wrote:Every time Hatton opens his mouth, the more and more i want him to get beat.
