You know just as well as the rest of us that you can’t write off Juan Manuel Marquez as a "blown up featherweight”.

That’s a patently absurd point.

Marquez is spine-shiveringly awesome. One of the finest fighters you or I will ever see. And since he's just knocked out two genuine lightweights of quality in his last two fights, I think it's safe to say he was plenty strong enough to qualify as a full blown super featherweight. Marquez is not, and has never been, a blown up anything.

And, even if the decision was debatable, it was close, and to run someone like Marquez close is an amazing achievement. And then, of course, he fought the gatekeeper Diaz, but looked simply sensational doing it. It wasn't just a win, it was a kind of epochal beatdown. Anyone who saw that couldn't help but be impressed. And then he did the same to DLH.

The guy’s been hopping weight divisions like a binge-eater, and he’s been successful doing it.

Hatton, on the other hand, is one fight removed from his performance against Lazcano, and lost conclusively when he last reached the rarified air of the pound for pound pinnacle.

Pacquiao should be favourite.

Marquez is a blown up featherweight - it's just he is so damned good he gets away with it. Like other weight hopping fighters like Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Robinson, etc, the level of talent compensates for the lack of physical attributes.

Marquez turned in a hell of a performance last time out - but I'll bet you that if he was campaigning at the weight long enough, he'd get beaten by someone who had the right game, and could offset Marquez' skillset, and who had the physical advantages to impose their gameplan.

Same with DLH, I never really thought that he could have totally cleaned out 154, for instance, Winky Wright would have been way too much for Oscar to chew on.

I still say that Hatton should be a paper favourite - he is proven, and has never lost at 140, and Pacman simply isn't. Like I said though, I just think Hatton will be too easy to hit, and will pay the price.
