Re: Classic fights I've watched recently
Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Jose Luis Castillo 1+2
Both close fights,Castillo maybe deserved the win in the 1st fight but I don't think it was the massive robbery a lot of people claimed, the 1st fight was a lot better than the rematch and Castillo was a lot more effective and the rounds he won were a lot clearer than the ones he took in the rematch, the rematch was pretty poor although Mayweather showed some lovely footwork he was pot shotting a lot and it was pretty boring to watch and Castillo couldn't pin Floyd down as well as the previous fight

I tried to contact you and respond to your questions, but something is not working when I tried to give you a message. You can give me a message here at [email protected] and I'll respond right back to you. But, I definitely want a copy of that Laguna vs Buchanan I fight. If I can get fight #2 also, it would be nice to have. Both fighters showed tremendous high skill in both fights. I love both of those fighters.Keko wrote:Where do you live and if you can send? I collect video tapes and the tape I bought in 1987 and is normally not a quality or even the watch
Edit
Exactly my father bought it.
I may have to get in contact with you for that tape. I gotta have a copy.
Look around the internet and you'll be surprised about that fight.
and finally respond to private message

McCallum-Graham.
I had McCallum winning by a couple of rounds. Can't make a case for Graham winning.
This is one of Herols fights were I wished he just kept his hands up. His relaxed style was his best asset in some fights and his downfall in others.

RJJ - Virgil Hill
A good Jones performance that was more fighting than fencing. Devastating body punch. The most devastating I've seen.
Tyson - Botha
Very frustrating if your a Tyson, frustrating if your a boxing fan after round one, tense and exciting if you were rooting for Botha.

Re: Classic fights I've watched recently
Eder Jofre vs Fighting Harada II. A great fight. I had it a draw. It was very close. I think that Fighting impressed the judges in the last 3 rounds. He clearly won the last 3. He threw a great volume of punches with lots of speed. I think the Golden Bantam Jofre was tired at the end. Maybe he couldn't make 118 anymore. He threw some shots on Harada's face, but, this Japanese little warrior took them shots. Always pressing the action, he smothered Jofre through the ropes. That's how you fight a taller guy. You fight him inside.
When the officials made the verdict, it was understandable. It was close. It could have gone either way. But, I think Harada gave a bigger impression in the last 3 rounds. Sometimes the winner isn't really the absolute winner, you know.
At the end, they gave Harada two big ol' trophies. I don't recall that they do that stuff now. Do they still? Anyway, I had it 143-143.

Michael Spinks vs Larry Holmes 1+2
Never scored either but felt Spinks deserved the 1st fight, 2nd fight was closer maybe Holmes nicked it,he must've kicked himself for letting Spinks off the hook when he was hurt in the 14th,and the last round actually
Spinks started off well in the 1st fight, Holmes came into it but Michael finished well,Larry started off much better in the rematch ,then it was Spinks who had to catch up,I was surprised how well Spinks was able to outjab Holmes at times,he landed the better quality shots over both fights but his punches just bounced off Larry with no effect whereas Holmes hurt Spinks a few times

Sickening KO for Graham,up there with the best KOs ever seen in a boxing ringq,Graham in total control then bang, probably the only punch Jackson landed the whole fight, what a right hand counter

George Foreman vs Ken Norton
Foreman at his murderous best, when he hurt Norton he couldn't miss with every shot he threw, about 3 consecutive right uppercuts all landing, frightening power and accuracy, just a demolition job
