As I said above, AJ fans will ignore that Ruiz has not changed and not turned up and his win will just make them and their bs of the last 6 months look like they were right all along.

I stopped basing my predictions on weigh ins after Bowe/Holyfield III but this one is difficult to overlook. Ruiz obviously feels he has Joshua's number in the way Rahman thought he would at some point plant one on Lewis again. Overconfidence is fatal in boxing, but it's always literally everyone except the boxer who's putting his brain on the line that realises it.

I changed my prediction for AJ/Ruiz the day before when I rewatched Ruiz/Parker. I think I'm going to have to do the same here having watched the weigh in. If Joshua doesn't try to KO Ruiz, and doesn't try to finish him if he scores a KD, he could fence, clinch and spoil his way to a decision in a match that will probably send Wladimir Klitschko to sleep.

He's made a lot of money though. He will be riddled with doubt and would he bother to build himself back up? The likelihood is that he won't pack out stadiums anymore. Need to be humble to do that.

If true looks like Ruiz is allowing himself to get walked over/doesn't care as he's now rich... Fury set the standards when he packed his bags ready to leave Germany forcing the Klits to adapt the ring

It's Joshua's fight to lose now. Everything is in place for him to steal the rematch. Just don't make any stupid mistakes.

Ultimately he is a programmed boxer going against a guy with natural instincts, so the element of danger is still very real.

I hope so, I’ve bet hard on it. I’m trying to figure out if the extra weight is going to make him the ‘immovable object’ or just a fat, low cardio slob in the eyes of AJ.

I’m tending towards the former. I can see Joshua playing it safe at long range whatever happens, but if Ruiz can’t close the distance AJ won’t be forced into exchanges too often which means it may be more likely to be a drab 12 round affair.

On the other hand you’ve got to fancy Ruiz to go for it at some point, in which case he’ll use up energy and make it more likely he’s stopped late.

Can AJ move around for 12 rounds without getting exhausted? I guess this is what he's trained for.

Ruiz is so fat he’s hardly going to be able to close the distance very easily and test AJ’s stamina, I think he’ll be doing a whole lot of stalking and trudging but not much punching. AJ might end up winning it throwing 20 punches a round.

I can see this being an AJ stoppage now if Ruiz can't move too well. AJ busts his face up from long range, swollen eyes etc, ref stops it after 8

Wow can’t believe Ruiz has put a stone on, think AJ’s chances have gone up by a lot, maybe he’s just here for the pay cheque and he’s done after this, silly.

Like James Toney though, Ruiz has a very economical style. He blocks alot of punches and then throws a fast hard flurry, then rests again. Unless Joshua can make him turn alot and miss punches, I don't see him getting too tired. That's why, out of the top 3 heavyweights, I think Tyson Fury is the worst matchup for Ruiz, because Fury has the potential to tire Ruiz out with his movement.

Heavier the better for Andy, AJ is for a pasting.
