Buddy McGirt doesn’t have a nice thing to say about absolutely anybody 
his own family and kids and nearly every promoter or boxer, always manages to stick the boot in.
He does come across as a funny and worldly fella tho. Loads of good pods about at the minute.

I enjoyed the Brodie chat, but I have to disagree when he says he'd have ko'd Mcullough. Wayne had a granite chin.

May have ground him down late, he wasn't hard to hit and Brodie was a decent puncher. Depends when/what weight I guess. Larios managed it but then again I seem to remember Harrison landing booming heavy shots round after round and not budging him much. Same with Hamed.

(You’ll be surprised at me saying this, but... lol) I ’d like to have seen the effect of Brodie’s body shots on MCullough if he got onto an offensive roll (like you say Wayne was there to be hit), his chin was cast iron but nobody has a cast iron liver and Zaragoza hurt him badly once or twice to the body

Larios had that clubbing type punching style. Didn’t always seem a puncher but he stopped McCullough and Vazquez which is some going. Heavier handed than Brodie but less offensively skilful imo

Larios was good. Overlooked. He had a slightly odd style but it was effective. He wasn’t a sleepytime sort of hitter but could whack.

His performance in the stoppage win over Izzy was fantastic. Object lesson in finding 19 different ways to land the right hand. Big lad at the 122lb weight too I suspect.

Yeh, you're right mate. One of the things that genuinely surprises me the most is how willing they are to let themselves get so out of shape. I know part of that will be a natural reaction to having spent years having to be so disciplined, but you think they'd miss the 'buzz' of being in shape and fit, as well as their own pride kicking in. Ironically shows how much of this is to do with mentality, both in and out of the ring.

I doubt it’s a coincidence. I can only imagine the process of weight management over years going into decades to be extremely ‘draining’ (pun unintended) mentally.Re: Boxing Life Stories - I'm calling it now

A couple of boxers who’ve stayed fit after retiring seem to go a different direction and pack a shitload of muscle on like bodybuilders almost. Arthur would be one and I’m sure there are others my crap memory forgets. I can see how that would happen psychologically too, I reckon.

Gavin Rees has really bulked up since retirement. More of a body builder physique now than of a boxer.
