Toney fails to stand up to Tua's power. If we're talking about the Tua of the late 90's, he was actually a respectable Heavyweight, with respectable stamina to match his monster punch. He knocks out Toney, IMO.

What a war. Two amazing punchers with iron chins at 130. I would pick Chavez by SD or 15th round KO (Arguello was jr. lightweight champ in the days of 15-rounders)

Cervantes by late stoppage, IMO. Hatton has looked real shaky of late.

Quarry is little match for Conn, who has an even-money shot, at worst, against almost anyone under 200lbs. He wins a decision, going away.

A grim, bitter test of will & courage --- Jim Jeffries vs. Joe Frazier in a Finish Fight

Frazier busts Jeffries up who turns into a walking meatbag, able to
asorb heavy shots, but not return to many. Frazier tires but manages
to drop Jeffries with some savage hooks.

Frazier KO 13.

Riddick Bowe (1992) Vs Billy Conn (1941) 15 rounds.

I think Bowe gets to Conn. Louis was far better, but he didn't have the enormous physical advantages Bowe would enjoy against the smaller man. The difference is in that --- Conn would have to get good & close to land anything, & on that note, he has to go to the well one too many times. Bowe by KO in the mid-rounds.

Carlos Ortiz vs. Floyd Mayweather --- 15 rounds at Lightweight...

i think Ortiz wins against the Lw version of Money.

Ortiz looked so slick and overall great against Laguna.

Money was still too green at LW....Hey,money IS Green though!

Ortiz by close but clear cut UD at LW.


Carlos Ortiz vs Sugar Shane Mosely at 135.

12 Rounds.

Entertaining fight, that's for sure. Mosley was an excellent, excellent Lightweight champion, but I'll put Ortiz on a roll & make him 2-0 here, with a points decision. I think he'd figure Mosley out better than vice versa, down the stretch.

I'm not a fan of his (so don't start!), but honestly I'd take Hatton to eventually break him, coming off the deck & from way behind on the cards either for a late stoppage as the exhausted Cotto is pinned on the ropes in the eleventh or a corner retirement in the last third of the fight. He has to go through Hell to do it, one eye is swollen shut & the canvas is slick with both's blood; Hatton is never the same & retires immediately afterwards, saying "I just can't face that again."

Phew.

After that, a fun one: Ronny Lyle (Foreman fight vintage) vs Ray Mercer, circa the Holyfield fight.

That would be fun. I'll take Lyle on decision, but it'd be messy business. Lyle comes to fight, &, plainly, so does the tough-as-nails Mercer. Quite close on the cards, with plenty of to-&-fro.

Trinidad vs. Mayweather at 154...

i'm gonna have to go with Tito winning by MD.

builds up an early lead,maintains well in the mid rounds and holds off a rallying Money well enough to squeek by with a MD win.

Tim Witherspoon V Riddick Bowe

15 Rounds..

Bowe stops Witherspoon in seven brutal rounds. Bowe has to recover from an early knockdown, always wide open, as Witherspoon nails him with that right hand, though he cannot finish. Bowe batters him along the ropes, forcing the stoppage.

Great fight!

If we're talking about a prime Zale (not the faded, post-WW2 version that fought Graziano and Cerdan), this is a helluva fight for Hagler.

I think Hagler has slight edges in versatility and movement, and the extra advantage of being able to switch between southpaw and orthadox, which enables him to get a close, hard-fought decision. But I wouldn't rule out a Zale win as well.

I like Duddy in a close-fought bout.

Here's one...1980 Pepino Cuevas vs. 1999 Oscar De La Hoya at Welterweight.

I was a Cuevas fan, but I think Oscar D's speed would be too much and I would go with him winning a wide UD or a late KO

Might be a different story against the Hilton who lost on cuts to Dewitt.


As far as Mosley vs Sweet Pea, I think Mosley might have the edge on work rate but it would be a close one.

Best matchup would be at JLW and I think Gatti outworks Paez and wins a UD by 4-3-3 pts. I still think Maromero's the better fighter though.
