Wilfred Benitez vs Bruce Curry

What a tremendous battle this is. That 2nd knockdown that Curry scores in the 4th round would've been the end of the fight in the modern era. Benitez goes down, gets back up on shaky legs, and falls back through the ropes. Any referee in the modern era stops that fight right then and there.

Tommy Hearns vs James Kinchen

Kinchen drops Hearns, and has him rocked badly in the 4th. Hearns holds on for dear life, and makes it through the round. Mills Lane was somewhat generous to him for not taking a point because his clinching during this minute or so stretch to end that round was excessive to say the least.

Other than that one scary moment, Hearns wins most of the rounds, but he definitely has plenty of fight on his hands from Kinchen here, and barely escaped with a Majority Decision.

These moments of vulnerability are what makes Hearns' career so exciting to watch back. He often wound up in wars.

:TU: I don't tend to score the old fights, most of the time I watch them before I go to work so I'm probably not the most invested for scoring although tbf my scorings horrific at best of times

Roberto Duran vs Pat Lawlor 1

Duran appears to be injured a little from the start as Ferdie Pacheco says he's complaining about his left hand in the corner after the 1st round. Lawlor wins all the rounds, Duran appears basically unable to fight, and eventually injures his left so severely he can't lift his arm, and the Doctor is forced to stop the fight.

Duran makes a scene about "Why'd you stop it?" and honestly comes off looking like a jackass. Sometimes trying to be "Macho" just makes you look stupid, and this was one of those times.

Louis v Schmeling 1

Looked to me like Max was eating alot of decent Louis jabs and well leveraged right hands before he managed to find a home for his own right hand.

He might have been doing just enough, defensively, to take the momentum out of most of those punches, difficult to say. But even taking that into account, I'm surprised that Louis would start so aggressively in the rematch, considering how well Schmeling dealt with his attacks first time round.

Great performance by Schmeling, but I have to say that watching this fight made me appreciate how impressive a result the rematch was for Joe.

SRR had said that he did not even remember afterwards getting off the stool to go into the 12th round.
