I don't even think AJ's chin is that bad, he just got caught with a freak shot on the temple that took his legs away in the first fight and it was all over. He took a few big ones from Ruiz last night and felt them, but shrugged them off. He got caught hard against Wlad but Wlad can obviously punch. He was rocked against Whyte but he lasted it out.

I would say he has a Lewis-level chin. Not elite by any means, but good enough to get him through most trouble he's likely to face. Not good enough to get him through Wilder trouble, but I think AJ has a great shot of landing first in that one, and making it academic.

I watched on DAZN and Sergio Mora said that Manny Robles wanted Ruiz back in the gym in July, but he turned up in September.

Unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua says a health issue left him "tired" and "drained" in the build-up to his June defeat by Andy Ruiz Jr.

"I had some issue with my health which I was going through for a long time," Joshua told the BBC's Mike Costello.

"I didn't know what was wrong with me. I felt so tired and drained and thought it must be down to training.

"In the changing room before the fight I got a bucket of ice and was putting my head in it thinking 'why do I feel so tired?'

"The responsibilities of being world champion are difficult. All that stuff, feeling so tired, dealing with obligations.

"Now I have energy, I haven't missed a session."

The Briton added: "After my check-ups it showed what the problem was and this is what you have to get sorted.

"Even in this camp I had an operation done but as I'd started training in June I had no issues."

Joshua refused to say what the operation was but it is understood the procedure he had in June was linked to the issue diagnosed after his defeat by Ruiz.

I dont think you will be seeing Ruiz in the big time again. He had his 15 minutes of fame just like James Douglas. Ruiz will possibly continue boxing in a year or 2 but will never win anything significant again.

That was more "do I wanna continue boxing" and the answer was yes. So I expect to see him in the next 6 months- leaner and meaner

Yeh. He said he had personal/family issues going on after the Parker fight..

I completely agree I was looking to give Andy rounds as the champion coming into this. But also because in rounds where they were pretty much even on effective punches and where both were parrying and blocking shots, I preferred Ruiz coming forward with head movement to Joshua trying to tag, jump back and circle the edge of the ring. Though that is probably a lasting bias I have about hating fighting opponents who had that style.

I fully accept the two 10-2 cards. But let's say there were 2 close rounds (likely #4, and #9). With Ruiz clearly winning round #8: You have two judges that appreciate Joshua's work (10-2), one from America and one from Canada. And one British judge that hates Ruiz's work (11-1).
Bit rough that...

Btw I still find it nuts that Andy came in so heavy to fight a guy who he knew would be on his bike for 12 rounds in a massive ring.

Nah not the same. Douglas was completely wiped out by Holyfield and couldn't rebuild. Ruiz lost on points and will have the appealing tag of 'former world champ' and is beatable, so could be appealing to Wilder

Ruiz will be in the big time for as long as he wants - get real, the amount of times heavyweights get recycled is endless, so this guy will stay in the mix for as long as he wants to get in shape.. just look at HWs like Chisora and price, continually one win away from a supposed world title shot...

No rematch with Joshua for Ruiz though, that ain’t gonna happen.
