Yes. If Luke win I’d imagine Garcia would have gone into his dressing room afterwards to congratulate him and someone would have told them to get a picture. I’ve missed the grovelling bit, where is it?

On a completely different level, AJ raised Ruiz’s hand after getting chinned by him! That was beyond grovelling. He seemed delighted for the lad.

And i doubt very much Shane could teach him anything , but what he should be doing is working on ANY bad habits forming , that would leave him open for Ryans best punch and lifting his elbows like he did is a basic mistake that world level boxers going to fight kmnown body punchers should,nt be doing , and i would bet he,s been doing it in the gym and its not been noticed,, Mick Bromby would of probably noticed and corrected it

I don’t think that was ‘grovelling’ either. Everyone is going to deal with a loss differently. I thought AJ handled his well.

Some excellent points here. it's often a mystery to me why fighters who are intelligent, experienced and at a decent level make poor choices trainer wise

It's a fair point, but you also have to place it in context - this wasn't a fresh Campbell making a schoolboy error in round 1, this was a guy who had already absorbed a fair amount of punishment and had been saved by the bell after being clocked by a left hook to the head at the end of the fifth. He was clinging on under fire and therefore far more likely to make this error irrespective of drilling.

Campbell Disgusted With Scorecards in Garcia Bout: 'Bloody Hell, It Was Probably Lose-Lose For Me'

Luke Campbell thought he could hang his hat on the effort he put up against Ryan Garcia in their lightweight fight last Saturday in Dallas, which ended with Campbell succumbing to a seventh-round body shot. But he is having second thoughts after being informed of what the judges scrawled on their scorecards.

“To me to win, I would have had to knock him out to win,” the 33-year-old Campbell told IFL TV shortly after arriving back home in England. “I thought it would be more fair on the scorecards, the scorecards, what I got told, were stupid, because for me it was a very competitive fight. Nothing much in the fight between us both by that point, but what some of those scorecards I was reading were so biased.”

The judges all had the 22-year-old Mexican-American ahead up until the seventh and final round. Rey Danseco had it 58-56, while Mark Lyson and Glenn Feldman had it 58-55, all for Garcia. Nelson and Feldman gave all the rounds to Garcia, except for the second round, the round in which Campbell scored a knockdown with an overhand left. Meanwhile, Danseco gave Campbell the fourth round, in addition to the second. For some reason, Danseco only gave Campbell a 10-9 advantage for round two, the round in which Campbell scored the knockdown.

“Now I’m thinking, bloody hell, it was probably lose-lose for me anyhow because if I had beaten him – which I would have never gotten a points decision anyhow, not with that scorecard – I would have had to knock him out to beat him,” Campbell said.

Campbell (20-4, 16 KOs) believes he would have been screwed even if he had knocked out Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs). The critics, he says, would have downplayed it as an obvious victory. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

“I wouldn’t have got the credit that deserved,” Campbell said. “I would have just beat an Instagram boxer, you know? In winning I would have lost anyhow. I don’t think there was a win-win in that for me whatsoever.”

Still, however embittered he was from the judges' tallies, Campbell was effusive in his praise for Garcia. He admitted that the fight-ending left to the body left him paralyzed and breathless for a good minute after the referee had waved off the bout.

“We all know his left hook is his best shot. He was throwing it to my head and I was blocking it well,” Campbell said. “As he moved I thought he was throwing it to the head but he whipped it and lifted up my ribcage. I stepped back and I couldn’t get my breath. Could not get my breath. I don’t know what to say myself. Couldn’t grab my breath even after the count after at least 60 second after the count. I was still struggling with my breath. That has never happened to me before and that’s one of the things that hurts me the most.”

Maybe Campbell would have been better off with an elite trainer. But was he ever going to beat Garcia anyway? Garcia may be flawed but he's been punching since the age of 7. He's clearly got elite level power and we found out that hes got the heart and will to win that elite fighters have. Wasn't he always going to boss Campbell, no matter how many hard body shots that Luke landed? He took Campbells left hand, got up, and ended up having Campbell on the backfoot straight away. He was just the harder, tougher guy in there. He might look and act like an immature kid outside the ring, but he is a hard gangster inside the ring.

a really enjoyable fight ,ryan came out from the first bell like a classy bull in a china shop , won the first rd put it straight on luke,second still ryan was rushing in, but at 21 you can and should expect that then luke caught him with a good shot, looked game over ryan went down hard body twisted ,but he got up by 8 and seemed to shake it of quick , maybe luke should have gone for the kill then, but was probably thinking ryan is hurt ill take him in the 3rd, ryan looked to have recoverd by the 3rd and won . 4th 5th close but gave one each , ryan hurt luke at the end of the 4th or 5th luke turned his back , i think ryan won the 6th then a great body shot in the 7th put luke down, overall think ryan boxed well going forward was never really put on the back foot ,he has real power got a big heart too got up from a big shot and shock it off nearly instantly, both his hands are good and fast. yeah he has things to work on who doesnt , yeah he rushed in but at 21 its going to happen, look at saul at 23 he was far from finished article,

I was thinking that about Canelo. He’s a million miles away from the kid who fought Matt Hatton. Ryan is pretty much guaranteed to come on leaps and bounds and is still a baby.

It will be interesting to see how they move Garcia now. Will Goldenboy make the fights out there for him?

Its hard to imagine them allowing Garcia to sit on the sidelines and allow Lopez, Tank and even Haney to develop into bigger attractions; especially when you consider how close Garcia is to Canelo, and the possibility that he leaves Goldenboy to hook up with Canelo`s plans.

I think he means he’ll leave Golden Boy to join Canelo.

I think if Canelo and R Garcia both end up on DAZN that’s a big boost for the platform.

He recently signed a 5 year deal with Golden Boy I think so I think they’ll milk it a little. I’d be amazed if he fights Davis next.

I can see Canelo’s promotional company gathering steam and him getting a decent stable.

Mayweather set the business blueprint I can see Canelo following.
Canelo seems to have more of Garcia’s ear than Oscar.

There was never a concern over whether Ryan Garcia could draw a crowd outside of his home region.

The question was always how many fans would be allowed to attend such an occasion given social distancing measures and health guidelines during a pandemic.

Garcia's off-the-canvas 7th round knockout win over England’s Luke Campbell topped a Jan. 2nd DAZN show, live from American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The event produced a live gate of $353,835 from 4,218 tickets sold according to the final tax invoice provided by Golden Boy Promotions to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), a copy of which has been obtained by BS.com.

Tickets were sold at just five available price points, ranging from $35-$200.

The event sold virtually every ticket made available for a venue which carries a maximum seating capacity of 18.256, which includes obstructed views. Social distancing only permitted Golden Boy Promotions to make 25% of the inventory available to the public, before securing a handful of “kill” seats to accommodate fight week demand.

In addition to the 4,218 tickets sold, another 534 complimentary tickets were issued or at least identified as such according to the manifest. More than half of that total were assigned to the broadcasters, production team, media and essential personnel on the promotion.
