Burgos fought with his face and expected Emmet to fold due to his pressure and size advantage. In the end Emmet didn't fold and did score a knockdown or two. So big fail in fight strategy by Burgos.

Also apparently Emmett fought most of the fight with a blown out knee:

Absolutely incredible performance from both guys.

Emmett/Burgos was such a great fight.

I think Poirier/Hooker is going to be a great fight this weekend, and I’m feeling like Hooker gets it done.

I’ll also freely admit if I’m wrong, but Mickey Gall is beating Mike Perry. Can’t understand how Perry is such a huge favorite...well I guess casual fans of bangers is the answer to why he is but still. Gall sucks on the feet but this is a terrible overall matchup for Platinum.

Gall is a heavy underdog because he's never beaten anyone remotely good and he got smashed by the corpse of Diego Sanchez. Perry isn't a superstar but he's spent most of his career fighting at a much higher level.

Right, but Galls kidneys shut down prior to the Sanchez fight, and Perry loses to everyone that doesn’t actively try to match his fight IQ. I’m surprised Gall even has a spot in the UFC to be honest, but Perry doesn’t win fights that don’t end up meeting him at the lowest common denominator.

I mean all I'm saying is that there are levels to MMA just like there are in boxing or any other sport. Perry has at least beaten a few good fighters and given some others tough fights. Gall hasn't. He's beaten only nobodies and even lost to a couple of C-listers. So it makes sense that he's the underdog.

No I get what you’re saying, and Perry may very well smash Gall to bits. I’m just surprised he such a big favorite. There are more than just levels to MMA. There are also levels to training, fight IQ, work ethic, and having a corner that can help you adjust and Platinums got nothing on anyone there. I think Gall will surprise a lot of people and win this one, and I don’t even think Gall belongs in the UFC...he’s just a nightmare matchup for Perry.

I actually agree that Gall doesn't really belong in the UFC, but neither does half the roster, really.

Gall is only a +260 underdog right now so not really that huge.

What a fight this is,dustin might get stopped this round

That was fantastic. FOTY contenders on consecutive weekends, doesn't get better than that.

Re: MMA

Poirier/Hangman is 100% FOTY candidate. Absolute war. Dan has cardio issues, but no heart issues. If he could have even maintained his pace in the third round he'd have won that fight. Dustin dug deep to win that one. What a great fight!

It's going to be nightmare trying to figure out who goes where now though at 155. The division is such a shark tank, it's going to be difficult for anyone to go on enough of a run to clearly show themselves as number 1 contender. I don't think Dan should fall out of the top five though. I think he's clearly shown he's there. In a perfect world I'd like Poirier/Conor 2 and Hangman/Ferguson next.

Also, I was right about Gall not belonging in the UFC...wrong about him beating Perry. Gall has no heart at all. He did much better on the feet than I thought he would, but he was physically too weak to follow whatever gameplan he was trying to do. Cut him, he doesn't belong.

I expected Perry to get the win but he didn't look very good. Super flatfooted, no defense whatsoever. Wading in and eating way too many shots against a guy whose standup is extremely mediocre. On the plus side his grappling looked pretty solid and he still seems strong as f*ck and very difficult to take down.

Perry vs. Belal Muhammed would be a good fight.

Just noticed the old ‘Bushido - Way Of The Warrior’ tv series is on Amazon Prime. Is it worth a watch?

some of the fights are pretty decent mate

Henzo Gracie - Carlos Newton (i think thats Bushido 1) is some of the best grappling you will ever see IMO, some really entertaining sweeps and reverses and lots of rolling/counter-rolling

also one of the early ones sees young Shogun  come out and throw strikes non-stop for about 9 minutes before the dude kindof flops to the ground so Shogun can soccer-kick his fucken head in :yay: i think Shogun basically started his PED'd up reign of striking terror in the first two Bushidos, he was writing epic symphonies of violence, which geenrally ended up with someone being soccer-kicked around the floor like a dead seal :yay:

those are the two i remember, there were some other decent ones in the early shows, can't speak for the later ones

Ha, I did wonder! This is the ‘UWF’ version, features Dan Severn. Watched the first fight, and it seems very similar to turn old Pancrase fights.
