Listened to the Leon McKenzie interview this afternoon and it wasn't for me unfortunately.

Just not enough boxing content for me to enjoy this one, although that was probably to be expected. Towards the last 20/25 minutes I just wanted it to finish, but managed to see it through to the end. Seemed to be going around in circles.

He came over as quite immature for a 42 year old.

TBH 15 minutes would have been plenty IMO.

I suppose for me it's the stark difference between Duke McKenzie, a boxing man through and through, and a footballer who turned to boxing as an afterthought.

Another podcast, the guy is doing several sports but has a few boxing ones, including a Barry Hearn just dropped yesterday and one with Kash Farooq.

I thought the latest BLS Podcast with David Price was excellent.
Price was very open, insightful and brutally honest about his shortcomings.
Tris continues to be an effective and sensitive inquisitor, rarely does he fail to get the best out of his guests and I thought this edition was particularly good.

Yeah, that was a cracker!

The Pricey pod was good.

Would have liked for Tris to spend longer on the wins. Pricey had a terrific run (which was acknowledged to be fair) between capturing the English title, then winning the British & Commonwealth titles and defending them twice.

At times it did feel a bit like of a race to get to Pricey's defeats.

Ryan Burnett one a decent enough listen. Seems quite an intense little fellow. Was quite guarded. Pity his career was cut short as he was top drawer.

I just listened to the Curtis Woodhouse one, I enjoyed that, he’s a very good talker. He comes across as a level headed and honest bloke. I liked his story about sparring someone who he said was absolutely brilliant and smashed him up. He asked his trainer who the fighter was and his trainer said Daniel Thorpe and he hadn’t won for 18 months and ended his career losing over 100 fights. As Curtis said records are for DJs and these journeyman can seriously fight.

yeah Thorpe was one who could definitely go a bit on the right night.

I'll have to force myself listen to the Woodhouse Pod. It sounds good.

I always felt that Woodhouse was something of an imposter in boxing, coming over from football, but he really did stick at it and dedicate himself. Deserves a lot of credit for that in retrospect.

Curtis always seemed to articulate himself well, so I'm actually looking forward to the Pod now. Hope there isn't much time spent on football

It’s good, he mentions a few times how he didn’t feel accepted for a long time in boxing. He touches on football but not a lot.

He explains how football came easy to him. His dad was a very rough man and ran a load of doors in East Yorkshire.

I don’t know if you remember him posting on here but two things that really came across were, how much he loved to fight and the game in general, and his enthusiasm for the history, he’d talk about how he loved watching the likes of Duran and so on. He loved boxing way more than Jamie McDonnell ever did.

Also the classic line in a post before the Derry Matthews fight ‘can’t wait to get in the ring it’s amazing to have a job where I’ll be punching Derry Matthews in the face and not getting locked up for it, I just can’t stand the bloke and o can’t wait to punch him in the face’ I think it was pretty much that.

He was secretly sneaking round the gyms of Sheffield sparring when he was at Sheff Utd wasn’t he? That’s just Jedi level geezer.

Yes Counter-puncher, I do seem to remember Curtis chipping in with some posts a while back.

After bad defeats to Dale Miles and Derry Matthews he did well to persevere.
