It's quaint how old fashioned boxing fans are when it comes to gay fighters. Growing up I knew a few gay/bi blokes that could really have a row. It's a stereotype that gay lads are soft. Growing up in certain areas and being openly gay or bi meant that they'd have to learn to stick up for themselves.
Back 15 odd years ago when I was a psychiatric nurse there was a gay bloke who was a psychopath (he was a nonce as well, not that that has anything to do with him being gay) that we had to take on our ward (the community team that admitted him to us apologised and said he was too dangerous for us really but he had to come in) and he was absolutely terrifying: all prison muscle and had form for raping blokes. I worked with a lot of dangerous men and could front most of them out no problem but he was one of the few people that genuinely frightened me. He was pure evil. One of the other patients who had form for being a f*cking pain in the arse and kicking off himself absolutely shit himself when this bloke was admitted and openly admitted his relief when we nutted off this particular lad to a higher security facility.
I hope he's dead now.
It's like that Purple Aki bloke, the famous nonce from up North: Richard Towers talked about meeting him in prison on the normal wing and he was told not to touch him because he was so useful to the local villains to put the frighteners on people. That seems to be a thing among underworld types.

That would still be a very good career. Matthew headlined some big shows (Canelo, Kell Brook) and won the European title. Based on where Campbell is now, it’d be a great achievement to get to that level.
Most people said the same about Conor Benn when he turned pro but at least he had some power in his punches.

Parker Suffered Elbow Injury Halfway Through Chisora Fight
"Joe did tell me that he suffered an elbow injury halfway through," Higgins told Sky Sports.
"He hasn't said that publicly, I don't know if he will, but he did tell me that. He's going to get his right elbow looked at, because that could be why you didn't see the flurry at the end when Chisora was on the ropes. Joseph, he's got a bit of an issue that's he's going to get looked at, and hopefully cleared. Hopefully it's a minor issue.
"I thought [the fight with Chisora] was close, but I thought Joseph won. I was hoping the officials would call it that way and they did. I don't think there was any robbery of Chisora. Yes, the first-round knockdown put them ahead, but Joe looked quite composed and caught up over time, such that by the end, I thought it was a narrow win to Joe. I'm just relieved that the officials called it that way."

Parker really should have had point deductions for the holding. I'm convinced he wouldn't have won if the Ref had not let him get away with the holding.
I think Derek can consider himself unlucky, but on the plus side there will still be another pay day for him if he wants it.

The radio commentary from Mike Costello was lousy
Costello is a very good radio presenter and "could" be an excellent commentator, BUT he spoke with absolutely zero passion when the fight had a knockdown in the first 15 seconds ! And he takes way to long to convey the action to the listener. You don't know if a boxer beats the count or the fight is over until the moment has been lost
He waffled endlessly about everything other than the fight....DURING the rounds This isn't good enough for radio !
He presents a show & build up really well, but lets his listeners down badly when it comes to describing the live action

Parker was holding from round 1.
It looked to me the only way Parker could stay with Chisora was by continually holding and preventing Del Boy from working. Joseph has effectively copped a very right decision by foul tactics IMO.
The Ref should have stamped out the excessive holding and if Chisora continued with the punches behind the head, then start taking points, or worse, from Del Boy.

Team Parker have begun a campaign for men to be allowed to fight 2 minute rounds. "People are raving about the womens fight on the undercard, but i could fight lile that if the rounds were 2 minutes. Its impossible to box for 3 minutes without a long rest" said Parker "It's just not fair " he added.

Calzaghe has a son at a similar level to Hatton. I can name a lot of pros in my region, or ex pros who have sons who are better. Their dads weren't as good though.
