People shouldn’t write-off Itauma just yet, he just came up against his kryptonite yesterday, styles make fights as we all know. I still think he’d muller nearly every other heavyweight out there and take them out early, very few are tough enough or skilled enough to drag him into the deep waters. Usyk and Fury certainly could have done, maybe Joyce in his short-lived peak?

The videos coming out about him not running or doing 12 round spars are a huge concern.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 05:52 People shouldn’t write-off Itauma just yet, he just came up against his kryptonite yesterday, styles make fights as we all know. Yeah I agree that is concerning and hopefully no medical reasons behind it as some rumours are now suggesting. But even if Itauma never improves his skills or stamina from last night, I honestly think he still has enough to beat 95% of modern heavyweights - maybe even a higher percentage than that.mickey1975 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 06:09The videos coming out about him not running or doing 12 round spars are a huge concern.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 05:52 People shouldn’t write-off Itauma just yet, he just came up against his kryptonite yesterday, styles make fights as we all know. Ludicrous people want Moses to be the second coming so bad they ignore his obvious shortcomings. He’s not tough enough. He got smashed to the body and visibly wilted. He tried his absolute best to win, hit Hrgovic with the kitchen sink and then basically quit.
To be ‘towellled’ off Ben Davidson says it all. After that childish push at the weigh in I stuck a ton on Hrgovic. First bet I’ve had on boxing since betting Kessler to beat Calzaghe.
Toughness, chin and especially endurance is what boxing at championship level is all about. Fast hands and a dig can only get you so far. Hope Moses is ok and recovers from this. He looked like he was gonna run out the ring after the body shots he was looking over to Ben like he was his daddy dying for a good towelling.
Big up Hrgovic. He did his job and can be in big fights. Moses needs a new set up, the front runner camp he has now won’t get him past anyone decent.

Is it fair to say Hrgovic beat Moses AND Howard Foster last night..
Did not give him a chance.

That’s a crazy assessment. Basicaly quit… never took a knee , or shelled up. Kept swinging for the win when he was soo fucked I could have beat him… he gassed, very badly, then in response he swung bombs in combination again and again… it’s basicaly what we all ask for when wanting a fighter to go out on there shield…2520386 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 06:30 Ludicrous people want Moses to be the second coming so bad they ignore his obvious shortcomings. Not tough enough… he went toe to toe with heroic when he was so gassed he couldn’t stand. fornicate me id that’s not tough enough who is?
It was a poor miscalculation. He over commited then once he realised that doubled down. He should have tried to regroup a bit. But to question his toughness or chin is downright stupid. Questioning his brain is fine…. He just tried to run a marathon, and opened with a 9.8 second 100m… that dosent make him slow… it makes him foolish.
Re: Round-by-Round: Moses Itauma vs. Filip Hrgovic - 29 August 2026
He's a 6 round fighter, and his whole style is built around it. He's naturally not very lean either.
I think people are really missing how important this is... if he tries to improve his fitness, he'll need to cut back on his explosiveness and movement which have been the biggest factors to his success. Very rarely do these type of fighters change that much from looking at similiar examples.
Thankfully for him, the heavyweight scene is a joke - still loads of people he can KO early

Because some people are capable of distinguishing between the result and the performance.jtourettes wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 05:20He took the guy you were predicting to win into deep waters and drowned him. How does that not impress? Sounds like sourgrapesKilburn wrote: ↑29 Aug 2026, 19:45
It was a hectic fight but Hrgovic never visibly hurt or discouraged Dubois at any point. Dubois beat the crap out of him in the end.
No sour grapes from me tonight, I predicted and hoped Moses would win. But his cardio was way off the mark. Hrgovic did his job well but I can’t see why anyone would see it as an impressive win..
Hrg basically blocked punches with his face until Itauma fell apart dramatically in a way that most top prospects really don’t. But you’re perfectly entitled to be impressed by the manor of the win.
I’m pretty sure I’ll actually end up rooting for Hrg for his next few fights anyway. He’s a likeable guy and will do well to have many easy nights holding on to his belt, with that nearly non-existent defence of his.

Like lots of undefeated punchers they think everyone will fall over as soon as they land. Many learn the hard way. Remember Nigel Benn throwing bomb after bomb against Watson and being so knackered by round 6 that he was knocked out with a jab. We will have to see if Moses learns from it.

Re: Round-by-Round: Moses Itauma vs. Filip Hrgovic - 29 August 2026
Just watched the full fight again. Perhaps hindsight plays a massive role here but it was blaring obvious at rhe end of the 8th round that Itauma was done, spent, shot every single bolt.
Davidson should have seen this and considered pulling him out. Far harder said than done and he would have been crucified for it as well. However, by sending him out for the 9th his man fell apart in front of the whole world, did more damage to himself and was carried out on a stretcher
That kind of finish can destroy a career, you can overcome a corner stoppage on the stool.
Ben must have known his man was done at the end of the 8th, without doubt. Why not take the bullet to save his man? Why send him back out then throw the towel AFTER Foster was stopping it (as he did with Wardley)
Towels Leigh Wood against Lara when he shouldn't and fails to do so for Moses or Wardley. He aint no man I'd want in my corner

Re: Round-by-Round: Moses Itauma vs. Filip Hrgovic - 29 August 2026
I have to say I feel a bit smug about the new highly touted golden goose losing like this, because as a German living in the UK I am getting mighty sick about how little credit the media is giving the other guys here. Boxing, football, all the same.
I may be true that apart from experience and stamina, Itauma looks like he has most of the skills needed to become an all time great. Hrg said it himself in the interviews later, he didn't see the punches coming and Itauma uses angles and his repertoire is looking good. I think the comparison with Wladimir is accurate here, how he gassed against Purity, how he overpaced against Brewster, how he got knocked silly by Sanders, and look how he came back and how he dominated the division once Steward guided him. Even though his jab and tie up style made him boring to watch, Wladimir looked so exciting early on when he was fearless and just wanted to knock his opponents out. But Wlad was all jab, left hook and overhand right. I don't recall a single great uppercut that he ever threw, so on a technical level Itauma looks like he has more to offer and he ate punches that would have knocked Wlad down.
Itauma did look exciting in knocking lesser opponents out, but to be honest, the stamina issues kicking in that early made him look very very bad. If he can't build up enough stamina and learn to pace himself better, any opponent with a chin will have him in trouble.
As much as I like Hrg character wise, he is not really the cream of the crop either and even though the division is quite weak atm I don't see him hold on to the title for long, Dubois already beat Hrg and was ringside, pretty sure his camp will be eager to suggest a unification bout.
But even so, this is Hrgs moment and good for him, that was an upset I personally am not upset about at all.

Agree with that Greg , , Actually he went UP in my estimation I was on the fence about him before , thinking right promoter , right fights , is he all hype , but his skill set , for the first 5 rnds or so impressed me , , his heart when he hit that brick wall super impressed me , i think theres still a big future for him , he just needs the correct team to go about it with him start with ac trainer who's gonna look at him and say GET RID OF THAT FLABBY GUT , YOUR ONLY 21 , hE IS NOT EXPERIENCED HIMSELF SO ITS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT HE NEEDS AN ExPERIENCED TEAM BEHIND HIM ,gregregegg wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 06:47That’s a crazy assessment. Reminded me of Bruno v Bonecrusher, boxed his ears off, well in front then the stamina deficiency came in once he got tagged.Controversial wrote: ↑30 Aug 2026, 06:57 Like lots of undefeated punchers they think everyone will fall over as soon as they land. Bruno and Benn came back but they had a public profile that made people want to see them succeed, does Itauma ?
He now knows he can't blast everyone out, smashing someone like Whyte is no tune up to someone like Hrgovic

Show us all the bet slip then.
Itauma didn't quit at all. He showed low fight IQ and his corner also had low fight IQ so they weren't able to help him there or to help him prepare properly for the fight. As far as heart goes, he passed the test.

If he's physically able to get fit enough to fight twelve rounds, the future is very bright. If not...

After he threw the flurry in the 8th to try and stop Hrgovic he was done. Exhausted
Have a watch of the 9th round again. He took some serious stick and despite exhaustion he kept trying. His heart cannot be questioned, or his chin really. How anyone can say he quit is ludicrous
There was a bodyshot about 30 seconds from the end that was sickening.
A 21 year old kid taking that kind of shellacking like he did in rhe 9th will take some coming back from

Why do DAZN employ these people?
How do you listen to these people? Are they on DAZN radio or something?
