Weirdly Adam Smith was saying today that they’re yet to confirm the TV deal in the U.K. for this fight. Potentially Eddie’s sold all of the rights to the Saudis and it’s up to them what they do with it but surely this will be on DAZN?!?

I was thinking this because the poster never had DAZN PPV logo. Or any network logo for that matter.maverick23 wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 14:13 Weirdly Adam Smith was saying today that they’re yet to confirm the TV deal in the U.K. for this fight. For $80m that best be all the rights.

I am not saying Joshua has to speak out - but the idea that 'it's not their place' to do so, is rubbish.
Ali was a hypocrite at times - and he was conveniently blind to the atrocities happening in Zaiire.

Joshua tried to speak out in a BLM rally and half the posters on here now call him racist. He’s best off staying out of it all.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 09:16That doesn't change the fact that Ali had geopolitical opinions.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 09:13Mmm, remind me where Ali - Foreman was heldjamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 08:57

Maybe he slipped up, confused his point, ect. But the BLM rally combined with the Eddie Chambers (think it was him) disgrace to the superior black race” direct messages leaves no doubt.

Well my original point was, I don’t really give a toss what Joshua thinks about anything. I don’t look to sportsmen for their knowledge or opinion.Dioufy wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 09:26He is racist. Yeah, that’s cool. As long as you’re consistent with that then fair play. Not a bad outlook, tbh.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 09:33Well my original point was, I don’t really give a toss what Joshua thinks about anything. I would assume Adam was being mischievous and that the process hasn’t been particularly easy but it’ll definitely be on DAZN. What will it cost and how it will be available will be fascinatingmaverick23 wrote: ↑23 Jun 2022, 14:13 Weirdly Adam Smith was saying today that they’re yet to confirm the TV deal in the U.K. for this fight. Perhaps it was. It’s just a bit strange to announce a deal for AJ and DAZN, and then announce the fight without any confirmed TV. I agree that it will almost certainly be on DAZN but it’s not like the fight announcement came out of nowhere. They’ve had months to sort it out.garethhop wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 12:32I would assume Adam was being mischievous and that the process hasn’t been particularly easy but it’ll definitely be on DAZN. Leaving the Broadcaster out of the Press Conf ensured the focus and the attention was on the fight, the promotion of the fight, and the key players, ie raising the profile of Matchroom and Hearn no doubt.maverick23 wrote: ↑25 Jun 2022, 13:33Perhaps it was. Former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is not concerned with the recent date over "sportswashing" when it comes to Saudi Arabia's push to secure high profile sporting events.
There are many observers who believe Saudi Arabia is securing sporting events to steer away attention from the country's controversies with human rights violations.
One of the biggest stories in sports, is the Saudi-funded LIV Golf - which is now emerging as a formidable competitor to the biggest tours in golf by steering away top players with huge monetary prizes.
The British has been out of the ring since last September, when he was outboxed over twelve rounds by Oleksandr Usyk at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The win gave Usyk the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles.
Joshua's rematch with Usyk will take place in Saudi Arabia on August 20th.
Back in 2019, Joshua reclaimed his heavyweight titles from Andy Ruiz in Saudi Arabia.
A press conference was held on Tuesday in Jeddah, to officially announce the Usyk-Joshua rematch.
During the media event, Joshua was confronted by reportrs on the subject of sportswashing.
"I don't know what that [sportswashing] is. I'm here to win the heavyweight champion of the world. I like Saudi. I think Saudi's good. I'm having a good time here. I'm treated really well," Joshua told reporters.
"All that allegation stuff, for me, I'm not caught up in any of that stuff. I'm here to have a good time, mix with the local people, bring entertainment to Saudi."

Translation - give me that suitcase of money and I’ll read anything you write down on that bit of paper.

Guy is a knob. Probably genuinely believes the fight was close. The rounds he won he won because Usyk allowed him to win.

when tens and tens of millions are on the line even good ppl turn into hypocrites or have double standards. usyk and ruiz fought /are fighting in saudi too, but generally seem decent to me
i don't think aj's a knob, just strikes me at times as being a little simple minded

Andy Clarke did an interview with Seconds Out yesterday. He said that he’d heard the Saudis weren’t best pleased that a couple of days before the official announcement of the fight AJ announced his deal with DAZN. They’ve bought the rights and are free to do what they want with them but their preferred broadcast partner was Sky which it’s unlikely Sky will want the fight on a one off basis now.
I think Eddie’s a top promoter but he seems to overcomplicate things at times. WWE have a relatively simple model whereby they get $50m for a show and have all expenses related to the show paid by Saudi and the distribution rights of the show remain with WWE to satisfy their existing partners.
I know Eddie is just trying to cover it in case it doesn’t perform as well as hoped but it’s not like the fight hasn’t been a long time in the making.
Perhaps we’ll know more after the press conference today in London.

Andy Clark is an incredibly bright guy, he wouldn't reference that unless it was spot on.maverick23 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2022, 03:36 Andy Clarke did an interview with Seconds Out yesterday. Sure they will sort it out in DAZN's favour, but it's perhaps noticeable the limited amount of media Hearn has done compared to usual recently?

I think Hearn has just been super busy in the last 2 weeks. Press conference in Australia, fight announcement in Saudi, the Bam Rodriguez show, Canelo/GGG press conference in LA, and then the. Canelo/GGG presser in New York on Monday. He did the MMA hour with Ariel Helwani on Monday which was a pretty good listen.
I’d imagine the usual crowd of U.K. interviewers didn’t go over any of them. If he’s not doing the usual raft of interviews today then I’d think something was up.

Personally for me they can hold it on mars , i could'nt give a stuff has long has they televise it , because thats the only way i would watch it , at home on ppv or in the pub amongst 2oo drunken fans who all say yeh , but they would'nt beat Ricky Hatton or Kosta Tzu ,, they could hold it in a stadium in my street , and unless i could afford the best seats in the house i would'nt go stuff watching it from the clouds where they look like two midgits .
Regards political reasons where it should or should not be held , not mine or there concern , only concern they should have is how much money , there profesional boxers , anyone of them could end up dead or worse , brain dead living in a wheel chair sucking on straws , so they should want and be entitled to the highest purse they can get .
Regards wether AJ is racist or not i don't know , but if he ever moves next door to me and i find out he is , its simple i just will not talk to hime if he's not i will ,,, for me Usky can be part of the kkk and AJ leader of the Black Panther movement who cares , Its the fight i want to see and for that there entitled to earn the best money they can secure

They’d certainly not be wanting to pay the same amount.
