I thought he outboxed Golovkin soundly, despite the early knockdown that didn't seem to really hurt him, and won at least seven rounds if not eight. Judges cost me another $1800 or so with the Jacobs ML and Jacobs by 12 round decision bets I had at sick odds. It was a close and competitive fight, but I kind of agree with Jacobs in the post-fight interview that GGG got the benefit of the doubt to protect the GGG/Canelo payday. Still, another big weekend as the year of the underdog rolls on!

Might add Arnfield and make it bigger! But a sound bet mate.

I very much like the look of Liam Smith @ Evs. May even have a bit on the stoppage when odds are released

Like this bet, I'll be adding in Arnfield 100%.

Linares and Arnfield on points at 5.5/1 looks good to me. No idea what Taylor's opponent will be like so will probably leave that one alone.

Taylor opponent is 7(2)-9(1)-1 most of her defeats seem against good girls, plus the stoppage loss was a 9th round TKO for the IBF world title

What do people think about Glen Tapia over Quigley at 5-1? Ok Tapia ha lost 3 out of 4 to decent opposition, but is still only 27. Quigley is supposed quality but has had only 12 fights in 3 years and his best win is against a tough journey man, but still a journeyman.

I often think the US overrates Irish fighters purely because of romantic notion.

Tapia is tough and always comes to fight and is still young and ambitious. What are the possible upset chances?

If it was 8-1 or 10-1 I would definitely go medium / large on Tapia, but just not sure 5-1 is a good enough price. What do others think?

I'm always looking for an excuse to bet an underdog. Anyone who has been following my bets this year knows that I've even blindly thrown small bets on boxers that I had never even watched before several times this year and won a lot of money doing it. That being said, I recognize the need to resist the urge to bet any and every underdog just because of the odds, especially if I know something about one or both of the competitors from prior experience. This is one of those cases with Tapia coming off two knockouts in a row. Quigley is the prospect in this bout and with a lot of stoppages. Yes it's a step up in name value and experience for the Irishman, but if he performs as he is supposed to I think this could very well be Tapia's third stoppage loss in a row and more or less the end of his career. For that reason I have medium sized play on Quigley inside the distance at -167 and small play on Quigley winning in round 4-6 at +274.

Its not a good price at all for Quigley but if he has plans to plans to go anywhere as a professional. He needs to win this so I know he's 1/6 but Im taking him. Its only a bad price if you lose.

Randy Cabellero to go the distance with Ruiz is at 2.62 looks pretty good. I wouldnt be surprised if Ruiz pulled off the upset with the way this year has gone, he just needs to keep Cabellero on the outside and not get involved in an inside war.

Jason Quigley vs Glen Tapia

On ESPN 2 on Thursday, I like Golden Boy prospect and undefeated Irishman Jason Quigley to get another highlight reel KO and stop veteran Glen Tapia who is coming off two KO/TKO losses yet again. Tapia's career is at crossroads and another KO here could be the end for him. Predicting a middle rounds stoppage for Quigley tonight.

Randy Caballero vs Jesus Ruiz

I have value plays on the underdog veteran Jesus Ruiz in the co-main event on ESPN 2 tonight to go the distance and hopefully upset Randy Caballero. Caballero is a good prospect but he's coming off a long thirteen month layoff, moving up to super bantamweight and his power is yet untested at 122 pounds. Caballero made weight for this Thursday evening bout but he has struggled with weight cutting in the past. Ruiz is a tough out who has fought better competition and also bigger than the undefeated Caballero, so value on him to get the upset or at least force it to go to the cards.

Jorge Linares vs Anthony Crolla II

In the big UK bout on Saturday which Showtme will broadcast in the U.S., I like lightweight champion Jorge Linares at these prices to repeat in the re-match with British boxer Anthony Crolla. I thought Linares clearly won their first fight last year despite the closeness of the decision on some of the cards. Linares' skills are a class above Crolla in my opinion and he has great combos with decent power. So I'm predicting a late rounds stoppage this time, although the unders are a partial hedge in case Linares gets caught or cut again and loses that way. A home country decision for Crolla is a bit of a concern if it goes to the cards, so I hedged with some decision and split decision props in case Crolla gets the benefit of one or more English judges, rightfully or wrongly.

Jack Arnfield vs Brian Rose

I like Jack Arnfield in this UK undercard bout at this price over Brian Rose. I just think he's a better boxer and the price was good at the opener. Prices have lengthened quite a bit most places.

My pre-fight bets for Thursday & Saturday. Go ahead and laugh at my gigantic list of bets for Linares vs Crolla II. :-P

Jason Quigley wins inside the distance (-167) vs Glen Tapia ~$87.19 for ~$52.21
Jason Quigley wins in round 4-6 (+274) ~$15.57 for ~$42.66

Jesus Ruiz (+1100) vs Randy Caballero $30.00 for $330.00
Jesus Ruiz Points Victory Or Technical Decision (+3300) ~$26.99 for ~$890.67
Jesus Ruiz/Randy Caballero fight to go distance (+163) ~$41.52 for ~$67.68

Jorge Linares (-175) vs Anthony Crolla ~$181.65 for ~$103.80
Jorge Linares (-182) vs Anthony Crolla ~$188.91 for ~$103.80
Jorge Linares wins by KO/TKO/DQ (+235) $40.00 for $94.00
Jorge Linares wins by KO/TKO/DQ (+265) ~$25.95 for ~$68.77
Jorge Linares wins in round 10 (+2500) ~$5.19 for ~$129.75
Jorge Linares wins in round 10-12 (+1000) ~$10.38 for ~$103.80

Jorge Linares/Anthony Crolla Under 9½ (+200) $50.00 for $100.00
Jorge Linares/Anthony Crolla Under 10½ (+160) $25.00 for $40.00

Jorge Linares wins by split decision (+850) $10.00 for $85.00
Anthony Crolla wins by split decision (+1000) $30.00 for $300.00
Anthony Crolla wins by any decision (+400) $25.00 for $100.00
Jorge Linares/Anthony Crolla Draw (+2000) ~$10.38 for ~$207.60

Jack Arnfield (-127) vs Brian Rose ~$131.83 for ~$103.80

These officials seem so biased for the Golden Boy fighter in a close bout. Scorecards going to be for Quigley, right or wrong:

Live In-Play Jason Quigley Points Victory Or Technical Decision (-263) vs Glen Tapia ~$217.98 for ~$82.88

Good job, Jmashyaka. Quigley definitely needs some work. Teddy Atlas was right when he said that it was weird that the officials almost pulled Tapia out of the bout after round 8 when I thought he was doing fine. That seemed pretty shady and Teddy was right to criticize the judges for those really wide cards. 100-90? Come on! In the co-main event I thought Ruiz was very game and could have even won that decision over Caballero as a huge dog if he wasn't in on only two weeks notice. Scores were more reasonable there. Nearly broke even tonight after my live play. On to Saturday's UK card.

Cheers Jim, I'm just tryna get close to your form, your killing it this year.

I caught the fight in the mid rounds when Tapia was coming on, Quigleys lack of head movement was really letting him down and one thing about Tapia is he can take punishment, I think Quigley will get stopped at world level. However he made the adjustment and got on the back foot which is always good to see. 100-90 that scorecard is mental I watched it from round 5 and Tapia easily won at least 3 of the last 7 rounds. Missed the Cabellero one but he's inactive and only fights one way, I thought Ruiz could nick it on points but I'm wary that the A-side gets the decision on a GB promotion card.
