Poor old Ron. Smokin' Joe couldn't KO the "Butcher Boy" but his punch resistance was shot to pieces by the time "Candyslim" got to him. He could whack a bit could Mr. Merrit as Earnie could testifyJerry Fitch wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 13:19 Regarding the Cleveland Arena which existed from late 1937-1973 for boxing. Several fights for 1964 list Don Elbaum as promoter. Larry Atkins promoted during those times. This was verified by Plain Dealer articles from those fight cards. Don Elbaum's reign at the Cleveland Arena started with fights in 1969. The only differences was the card featuring Irish Billy Wagner and Hal TNT Carroll on November 29, 1972, which was promoted by Bruce Trampler. Don King's only fight card at the Cleveland Arena was on November 28, 1973, featuring Jeff Merritt and Ron Stander. However Don Elbaum was the matchmaker for that show.

Gervonta Davis is not#1 at 140 by beating a regular champ.
Please do not go down the drain with illogical rankings. Taylor being undisputed is clearly the#1 rank. He holds ALL THE MAYOR BELTS. A regular belt is not the real champ.

I think if a thread is considered boring, frivolous or stupid then it tends to sink very quickly anyway (like most of mine do )
If a thread is popular and/or interesting then it tends to stick around. If it's a good thread then i have no objection to several being the work of the same poster.

Yeah, great idea; let's limit postings on a posting board. Referring to prior poster.candyslim wrote: ↑24 Jul 2021, 14:58 I think if a thread is considered boring, frivolous or stupid then it tends to sink very quickly anyway (like most of mine do )

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
maybe consider putting some indication on amateur records that they might not be complete, so many ppl are under the misconception that the often highly incomplete am records listed on boxrec, which mostly include tougher fights at national and international level competition, are the fighters full amateur history. ...the most recent one is someone thinking caleb plant's entire amateur career was 9-11, but it's happened several times
plus ive seen a number of boxers get offended because their am record on boxrec gives a misleading idea of their amateur success to ppl who dont realize it's only a partial record, made up mostly of their higher level fights that are toughest to win

Maybe I'm missing something as I have been away for a while, but why has the date of births of all the boxers been taken away?.... I've looked up several today just to be sure, including recent fighters who had their dob listed previously, but they have all gone?!!.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I think what would be a really cool feature would be if BoxRec had a "mutual opponents" algorithm where you could take two different fighters currently or in the past and at a click of the button get a complete list of mutual opponents between the two.

It certainly would cut down on research time dramatically rather than having to pull up two different records and comb through manually.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Indeed. I guess taking the idea further it would be good if a fighters record could be filtered too, so you could show all fights at a certain weight, or in different years, different states/countries etc. I imagine it will involve a whole new redesign or new database tool though.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 10:31Thanks.Controversial wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 00:24Love this idea !HomicideHenry wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 20:21 I think what would be a really cool feature would be if BoxRec had a "mutual opponents" algorithm where you could take two different fighters currently or in the past and at a click of the button get a complete list of mutual opponents between the two.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
What would be a nice algorithm for BoxRec to come up with, to see how many southpaws somebody fought in their career without having to look at every single name also.
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Declan Geraghty just won the UBO belt, should let his profile be updated?
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Hrgovic vs Radonijc had four (yes, four) KDs in the second round, and the scorecards cannot go under 10 - 6, like they do in FightScore. Just to report.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Hi - great to have the amateur records and expanding it every day.
Just one thing - I feel all inside the distance victories should be labelled ‘Kos’ in the overall stats line at the top - just the same as the professional records are.
At present only official kos (now very rare in ams) and Tkos are counted. Rsc, Rsf (if it exists), Rtd etc and all stoppages inside the distance should be reflected in the stats line.
Great work though guys

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I believe that the monopoly that has existed in South America to the limited number of only one national federation with access to Boxrec, has given too much power to these organizations, favoring only the athletes that they are interested in managing, taking away the chance of many talents, you can see in Brazil, several talented athletes in MMA and in professional Boxing, not so much anymore, due to access limited and corruption, power that these organizations make using Boxrec for their own benefit and not for the benefit of professional Boxing, the site was created to favor the sport in general, not alimited and corruption, power that these organizations make using Boxrec for their own benefit and not for the benefit of professional Boxing, the site was created to favor the sport in general, not a small group of people, many dreams, many talents are wasted, the correct thing is you have at least two options in each country, following the standards and ethics of the Boxrec website.
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
What's happening with new users 'user names' ? I thought it was odd that someone should choose to be identified by a six digit number but i thought 'it takes all sorts' but then I see he's not alone so now I'm thinking it's a BoxRec innovation. Please explain.
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Why is Alexander Usik # 18 in the all-time rating and Anthony Joshua # 11 ???

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
On fighter pages, next to the photo, I'd like to see "mean average career weight" and "mean average opponent weight".
Joe Louis and Tyson Fury might both be heavyweights, but Fury is fighting much larger men, I'd like to have that info at hand.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Fighter pages should also show "career peak rating" and you should be able to click on the rating and have it go through to the bout page the peak rating was achieved in.
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Where to change username?
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Or don't then ...
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
One of the new users shows up as his number name, but logs in with a real profile name. Strange that.
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
That's very strange. I was hoping some might clear up the mystery but I've asked twice, I'm not going to beg.
