He's a delusional fellow. But that his cornermen were shouting "Brilliant AJ" throughout the fight (probably to influence the judges) won't have helped him be objective.
I really thought they were trying to boost his fragile confidence but I suppose that's just as likely

reminds me of muay thai........a lot of coaches will scream 'aayyy!' every time their man throws someone, no matter how effective it is

but there's encouraging your man/trying to persuade the judges.............and there's also being delusional ,sticking to a losing gameplan, and telling your fighter a bunch of sh!t just to temporarily spare their ego

They might have been. I remember Nigel Benn needing a confidence boost in fights from his team. Went back to his corner after being hammered by McClellan in the first round feeling bad but his corner told him how well he’d done which got him fired up for the next round.

there was an air of desperation to it that made it sound like the pleading of a carer, to a relative with severe mental health problems on the verge of a complete breakdown, 'please come down off that roof AJ, please believe me everything's going to be ok'. the pleading tone of that 'brilliant', god it was cringeworthy, got higher-pitched as the night went on.

So if this is on Sky (that’s gotta be the favourite) and Usyk smashes him (I think he will)… how the hell do they put Joshua in a position where his next fight be on PPV?

AJ v Chisora Feb 2023 24-99 on DAZN PPV :yay:

I think it depends on how he’s beat. If it’s a one sided beatdown then it’s tough to come back. If it’s competitive but he loses like the first fight then I’m sure AJ/Whyte is still a fairly big fight.

Pulev rematch for only £29.99 on DAZN PPV after that , you'd count the number of buyers on your fingers for PPV buyers if Joshua loses to Usyk

Surely that bit at the end when he could barely stand up and was taking several flush punches and was on the verge of being stopped - he might have thought it was close.....

Surely he's not thick enough to believe that? Or is he trying to convince himself it was close? He got his arse kicked most rounds.

His standing there with Buffer saying the scores thinking he’s won has got to be up there with the most mongiest thing I’ve seen in a while.
Man was given a clinic.

Benson is being selective with the small piece of the interview he has tweeted.

He missed out the part where Joshua admitted that after he watched the fight back he felt he did lose clearly. He also said his corner never once said he was behind in the fight and told him to carry on doing what he was doing for round after round.

I suppose this says a lot about Joshua.

I remember in the Povetkin-Chagaev fight Teddy Atlas showing a photo of Sascha's dead dad to his fighter between rounds to motivate him.

positive thinking, bro. the power of the mind is an untapped avenue in sport, only the few anointed gurus know how to exploit this. the same as breathing. did I ever tell you how a wild animal moves in the wild?

He didn’t seem surprised at all.

The whole place knew he lost.

“Huh”?

Has he watched the ending? And his reaction.

I think he had concussion.

The lack of confidence signals from Joshua are not good at all. He looks like a scared rabbit caught in the headlights any time Usyk even looks at him/staredowns and Usyk knows it and is playing on it. Joshua seems to need those headphones around his neck as a sort comfort blanket. I really wouldn't be surprised if he pulls out of the fight.

If the fight goes ahead I just see a repeat, Joshua doesn't engage and is outboxed or if he gets sloppy and caught he will be stopped.

To be fair it’s difficult to judge a fight, while you are in the middle of one getting punched in the head.
It’s not surprising that fighters don’t make the best judges of their own fights.

Joshua is broken. Doesn’t have a clue what he is or what he should be doing. Think Usyk takes him out mid rounds.

Is this confirmed as a DAZN PPV? last i heard the network was not decided. AJ has a deal with dazn that starts the fight after this, and the Saudis own the TV rights to this fight, and can sell them to any broardcaster they choose....
