Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury | BT PPV - 26 February 2023

To be unhelpfully hypothetical - if we were to put all the YouTuber / Disney Channel business aside, if Jake Paul were British, and was about to face Fury in a vacant British title fight, would anyone be predicting a one round blowout for Fury? I’m not convinced they would be.

I'm surprised the consensus on here isn't this fight is a wash for Tommy, people are judging what they read over what they see, like Paul had name recognition, Silva did not care. Fury when he fought the 11-0 guy, now that guy was still a bit of a van, but he does have good feet and a good jab, counters nicely over the jab, throws in combinations which paul can't.

I'm not saying he looks more then European level, but like Paul looks awful, as someone who stared boxing at 19 and was watching people who had years on me, there is a way they inherently moved that was more fluid and better and just ingrained, I feel this looking at these 2, Paul is stiff as a board in the ring, he flinches, will bite on every faint, this is a wash

tbh even beating anderson silva might top any win of tommy's , silva had beaten chavez jr!

to me paul and tommy are birds of a feather and well matched. tommy himself admitted he wasnt into boxing and he's known mostly for reality tv and influence crap.

of course tommy doesnt look more than euro level, he doesnt look british level either

Paul in the second Tyron Woolley fight, where Woolley is just a faded semi-retired UFC guy, it was slow paced and even until Paul found a surprise punch. It’s literally probably that one lucky punch that’s elevated Paul a bit in people’s minds, that and I suppose being a bit too quick for a positively ancient Silva.

let's be honest, they've both beaten nobody. anderson silva has the best boxing resume of anyone they've fought

47 isn’t a great stat for sure, but Silva was always a decent “striker” and one of the better preserved guys out there.

Tommy can’t just automatically look good based off Paul’s own opposition.

Whatever anyone’s views on Jake Paul, he surely has to represent a significant step up from what Fury would have otherwise faced in his 9th pro fight.

Fcks sake I’m going to talk myself into buying this if I’m not careful.

Of course it's not GOOD good, but there's a lot at stake and it's evenly matched where anything could happen.

I can’t believe the odds you know. Paul likes to flick with the jab and leaves himself so square on when throwing the right. I think Tommy is going to hurt him. If it’s not WWE circus with a script Tommy also won’t want it going the distance as Paul is the A Side and would get the nod if half close. Fury KO/TKO is the bet.

Like even in sparring Paul seems to be sparring lads that weight around 140. He is pure novice in movements and very rigid, none of his fights have been grafts, I think that grant lad fury boxed will do him. I don't know if the name has made expectations to high, but like fury is fluid, looks natural, he looks a decent fighter to me, does seems things nice, I know the level he has been fighting against but he has still shown promise, and he's had it put on em, grant came at him full pelt.

Anderson claimed he himself had been knocked out twice in training for the paul fight, that win is looked into too much because a 47yr old Anderson beat a useless version of jcc jr

This has to be one of the weirdest great matchups of all time.

-50-50.
-phisical prime.
-Yet still a complet mystery on if on if 1 or the other or both are any good (by any good i dont mean great, but either one of them could be anywhere from 50th-500th (somewhere in the middle is most likely)

Not seen a lot in Fury to be honest, but he should have enough of the basic fundamentals to come through this with relative ease.

I don't underestimate Paul biting down on his gumshield though, I think he has got some dog in him.

Paul could make fury look like lomachenko in this its not a 50/50 imo, its punchers chance or bust. I feel like I've seen this fight in boxing gyms, stiff guy who started in his 20s against the lad who has been in gyms since he was a kid, they just know how to behave and react, it's second nature, it's hard to learn boxing in your 20s, some exceptional athletes have done it, but it is rare
