I'm going to say none, but plenty have lost to journeyman. Some have lost to many journeyman. Lets face it, if McGregor won he'd continue fighting and beat other top guys. None of that will happen mind you, but hypothetically it would.

Looking for the upset in the bantamweight title fight in Japan tomorrow morning:

Luis Nery (+217) vs Shinsuke Yamanaka ~$200.00 for ~$434.00

I don't think he's far enough removed from being a top fighter to have a loss like that brushed aside.

So one loss at 40 cancels out how much of what was accomplished fighting and beating the best for almost 20 years?

Certainly doesn't cancel it out

If it affects his legacy it cancels out something. I asked you how much?

I think it's a balancing act. All the top wins are still there, but there would now be a big, very ugly negative mark on his career that didn't previously exist; you lose a match deemed a farcical mismatch in your favour, you're likely going to pay some price. The much valued 0 would be gone and it would've come in a manner that reflected poorly on the sport.

I think this would hurt how he's generally perceived, though he no doubt still had a great career.

So how far does it drop him for you? Obviously a ball park figure as I doubt you have a running top 100.

If I dropped him at all it would only be very small, and for a lack of longevity to get it done against McG level opposition. This would be an unprecedented loss in boxing and I really don't think Floyd should be losing this type of fight.

I'm speaking more about general perception too, rather than my own viewpoint. IMO an embarrassing loss of this nature would be tough to forget (after all, it is supposedly the biggest fight in history), and I think a lot of people would treat it harshly. I just can't see how the 0 going to an MMA fighter with an 0-0 boxing record wouldn't at all hurt how he's viewed overall....

Ok, sounds like you agree it doesn't hurt his legacy.

For me, it wouldn't do too much, but I think it will hurt how he's generally perceived. In fact, I'd be very surprised if it didn't....this would be a bad loss not just for him, but for the sport. It would be hugely publicized and played up for years...probably more than any of his wins.

Yeah, I was eagerly awaiting the line until it opened at +220 and got bet down pretty quickly everywhere since yesterday.

It'd be an utterly humiliating loss in my view and one which would actually tarnish the reputation of boxing generally. This fight is the classic mismatch on paper. Floyd would be viewed by many as a laughing stock if he lost this one and he'd never be at live it down. He'd still have had a great career but he'd be more remembered as the guy who lost his unbeaten record to a guy who had never once stepped into a professional ring as a boxer.

temped to back the draw in the Clev v Jack fight, can just see it playing out a bit tit for tat with both boxing behind high guards and taking it in turns to let their hands go

And we will have another interesting bet on Sylvester Lopez vs Ibrahim Balla 8/1.

Mayweather now available at 2/7 with Genting Bet!

Wonder if some 1/3 may be available on or near fight night.
