Re: Post Your Scorecards
Elmer, after seeing your post I looked up the history on this fight on this thread. 5 other regular posters scored this fight aside from me. 3 of them also scored it a draw and 2 of them had DeLaHoya a one point winner. This is good tight scoring when so many have it right down to the wire and hardly constitutes anyone calling it an ass-kicking. I think you need to reevaluate the definiton of ass-kicking. But please, humor me, post your scorecard.

Actually...you were one of the 3 (besides myself which would make it 4 of us) that scored it a draw. You had it 114-114. A solid score in my book. That was one close fight.Counter-puncher wrote:I think I scored it to Oscar by a point

Re: Post Your Scorecards
I have never liked Oscar De La Hoya. The whole forum know this about me. I don't think that Oscar is a great boxer nor a top 100 pound per pound great by any chance. But, on that night against Ike Quartey, he kicked his ass. Quartey was talking too much. Oscar had him on the brink of a knockout in round 11th, I believe.scartissue wrote:Elmer, after seeing your post I looked up the history on this fight on this thread. 5 other regular posters scored this fight aside from me. 3 of them also scored it a draw and 2 of them had DeLaHoya a one point winner. I gave the fight to Oscar. Well deserved victory. I wished he could have come like that against Felix "Tito" Trinidad.

I'd love to see regular contributors' input on this one, which I have seen a dozen times, only managed to finish scoring twice, lots of the rounds are so close i switch back and forth and either end up giving them even or give up scorIng altogether
Anyway, Veeraphol-Nishioka (3), great fight

I've been looking for this fight for awhile. The bout between Juan LaPorte and Ruben Castillo. I didn't see it when it took place, but had predicted a Castillo victory. 4 times at the gate for Castillo, but just couldn't grasp it. This one I thought was a sure thing, but what can you do. Here we go, 10 point must system.
Round 1: 10-9 Castillo
Round 2: 10-10 Even

Round 5: 10-9 Castillo
Round 6: 10-9 Castillo
Round 7: 10-9 LaPorte
Round 8: 10-9 LaPorte
Round 9: 10-10 Even (Castillo edged most of the round but LaPorte hurt him within the last 30 seconds which drew it even on my card - also spelled the beginning of the end for Castillo)
Round 10: 10-8 LaPorte (Ref gave Castillo a standing 8 count)
Round 11: 10-10 Even (this round will test anyone's judging skills - Castillo has a good round but is dropped in the last 5 seconds of the round - can't ignore Castillo's work through 7/8 of the round, but gave Laporte point for the KD - even round)
Round 12: 10-8 LaPorte (LaPorte scores a knockdown)
Total: 117-113 LaPorte

Always heard that Mitchell was robbed in this fight, but after scoring it I can't agree. If you think Mitchell just edged it, I can accept your opinion, but it was very close fight. At the final bell, Mitchell clearly looked the fitter man, but it was a very gutsy performance from Lopez, who kept his hands busy throughout the bout.

We're going to have to get opinions from a few more posters Counterpuncher, because i scored it for Veeraphol Sahaprom by 6pts.

R9.10-9 TS

I've only watched Sahaprom a few times, and I've been impressed by his economical style. His high guard protects him pretty well, and his counterpunching is quite accurate. Nishioka might have made the outcome of this fight different, if he hadn't waited till the 8th rd to begin body punching in earnest.
I saw some of Sahaprom v Nishioka I and from what I watched Sahaprom was having the better of it. Are the other 3 bouts worth watching ?

Thanks seamus. Not surprised you have it widely different there, I have a major man crush on nishioka and would probably score any close rounds to him.
Did you like the fight? One of my favourites. Would you agree the rounds were often close?
Agree on nishioka body punching, he had success when he switched tactics that way.
I would imagine most people will have the score closer to yours than mine.

Their first and forth fights veeraphol wins easily, the 2nd is much closer. Nishioka hurts veeraphol a couple of times, rocks him badly once, around the sixth round I think
Re: Post Your Scorecards
It was a good fight, but at that weight most are at least worth watching. I'm considering having a go at the other three. Sahaprom always look's so measured and in control. In at least a couple rds I went from saying to myself "ok now 10-9 Nishioka, which went to ok 10-10, to OK 10-9 Sahaprom at the end".

I didn't score it, seamus, but my memory is that Mitchell did deserve to win
For me it was similar to long stretches of the first two Lopez-molina fights, the boxer-mover getting off first and Lopez not quite managing to pull the trigger.

Veeraphol Sahaprom vs Toshiaki Nishioka III
Guys, I have to tell you, I absolutely loved this fight. Counter-punch, thanks for recommending this, but I ended up with the same score as Seamus, although a few rounds scored differently. Here we go.
Round 1: 10-9 Nishioka
Round 2: 10-9 Sahaprom
Round 3: 10-9 Sahaprom
Round 4: 9-9 Even (I thought Sahaprom won the round but had a point deducted for a low blow)
Round 5: 10-9 Sahaprom
Round 6: 10-9 Sahaprom
Round 7: 10-10 Even
Round 8: 10-9 Nishioka
Round 9: 10-9 Sahaprom
Round 10: 10-9 Sahaprom
Round 11: 10-9 Sahaprom
Round 12: 10-9 Sahaprom
Total: 117-111 Sahaprom
By the 3rd round Sahaprom had mastered the lead right - the bane of all southpaws - and couldn't miss after that. Every punch Sahaprom throws has bad intentions and just has so much more oomph on his shots than Nishioka who - too his credit - never stops trying. I was amazed when I saw that this fight was a draw. But that's boxing. Again, great fight and thanks for recommending.
