I enjoyed the Kalle interview more so. Interestingly Kalle said it was Nisse who had an encyclopedic knowledge of boxing, but it seemed to me Kalle had a more readily available account of names and details.

Just got around to the John Rawling edition and that's one of the best by far. Spanned so many era's and has been around and close to the action of so many big fights. You could tell how relaxed Tris was around one of his peers as opposed to possibly sometimes having to play an angle or ego massage some of the fighters.

A bit annoying that he said "you know" in pretty much every sentence but Harlem Eubank came across as a nice bloke, seems to have his head screwed on.

Listened to Chris Billam-Smith, you can see where the nickname The Gentleman came from, very polite, well spoken, articulate and honest talker, I can't say I knew much about him before. He tells a story of being a sparring partner for David Haye and watching Haye flatten a 6'5" 19 stone sparring partner who fell and snapped his tibia and fibula, any ideas who that was?

Good boxer is Billam-Smith. "Polite", "honest"....i'm sold ! Have to listen to it soon.

I suppose it's nice to get an interview when his career is on the up, but i do like listening to Pods with the boxer reviews their whole career.

Generally I do too, sometimes the more interesting ones aren't even boxers but promotors, refs etc

I've missed a few recently, but listened to the matt Christie one over the past couple of days and thought it was fantastic - would recommend anyone who has grown a bit cynical/disenchanted with the game to make the time to have a listen as his passion for the sport is really infectious and a great reminder of why we love it, despite its glaring flaws.
Some great insights and stories, but what also really shone through for me was the fact he's clearly a thoroughly decent guy - very self-effacing with no delusions of grandeur and a keen grasp of the politics around the sport and their implications for him (both professionally and personally).
Thought the dynamic between him and Tris was also great and made a tangible positive difference to this episode - leaves you wishing you were just hanging out in a boozer with them shooting the breeze about the sport, as there's a huge range of knowledge there, but also a genuine warmth.
Started this thread back in the day saying BLS would be a defining piece of work and I'll stick my neck out again and say that by the time he's done, Matt Christie will go down as the best editor in Boxing News' history. When you look at the quality of the product, the 'all-star' line-up of writers he's assembled etc, all judged in the context of tumultuous change in both the boxing and media industries, he's done a truly exceptional job. Already the GOAT IMO

Thanks mate. Was aware as I’m a BN subscriber, but really struggle to find the time as work is mental. Have even missed quite a few recent BLS episodes so got a backlog there already

Yeah I’m a recent convert to this. It’s great to hear some intelligent discussion rather than the pantomime like BBC boxing podcast with Buncey or the pompous Gareth Davies on talkSPORT.

Any chance to listen to the brilliant Alex Steedman talk boxing is not to be missed

I haven’t heard it, but that doesn’t sound like Ed. He’s one of the good guys.

I went to see a few of his early pro fights and also when he got clobbered by Harry Simon at Crystal Palace.

Think i recall him saying he had a very harsh upbringing and he also used to donate an amount from his purses to the NSPCC.

Yes he had quite a traumatic childhood with physical and sexual abuse, he has a book out about his life which is meant to be very good and apparently a three part Netflix series about him coming out soon too

Kevin Leushing pod - a good listen on the whole.

Kevin's a bit hyper at times to the point where his voice goes squeaky, but Tris handles the interview well.

I didn't even know (or remember) he had the book out, Belt Boy, which has a malevolent double meaning.

The Frank Stallone one is very good (Sly's brother). The bloke really knows his boxing and is full of great stories, very entertaining and a good talker.

Yeah, I enjoyed Frank Stallone. I probably wouldn't have tried had you not said it was good

He's a genuine boxing fan and surprised me with his knowledge & range.

Not an easy guest to control because he is overflowing with so many stories, opinions and questions....Dixon probably did exactly the right thing and go with the flow, but jumping in when he wanted to ask questions.

At times it felt like eavesdropping on a phone call between two mates just talking boxing, going back and forth.
