I guess the scoring issue in this fight goes back to whether or not a knockdown automatically makes it a 10-8 round, in reality it shouldn't be like this. You should score the round first (ignoring the knockdown) and then adjust the score accordingly by one point. So if you thought Williams won the round 10-9 (ignoring the knockdown) that shouldn't be wiped out. Eubank should be credited with one point for the knockdown, as its a 10 point must system it should be a 10-10 round.

I don’t mind the potential 3-point swing when it comes to a knockdown.
Adds more jeopardy and rewards the person who has gotten the knockdown; scoring that first round 10-10 seems harsh for me on Eubank.
If someone is getting battered in a round but lands a flash knockdown at the end I’ll happily score it 10-9 but that’s as far for me.

Williams was winning the 1st and the 11th and if he stays on his feet then my card changes from 114-110 to Eubank to 113-112 to Williams.

Shame his chin let him down.

Probellum announced the promotional signing of Welsh middleweight Liam Williams (23-4-1, 18 knockouts) despite William's loss this weekend to Chris Eubank Jr. in Cardiff on Saturday evening, battling from four knockdowns to reach the final bell. The 29 year-old also challenged for world honors, losing to Demtrius Andrade in 2021, and has held the British and Commonwealth titles during his career. “I’m thrilled to be signing with Probellum. They have already proven themselves to be a powerhouse in the sport and this move will open up some fantastic opportunities for me,” said Williams. The result against Eubank was obviously disappointing but sometimes that happens in boxing and I am confident that with Probellum by my side I’ll be given lots of new opportunities to be back winning again and I’m already focused on returning to the ring later this year.”

I think Eubank and Roy would have been stupid enough to lose by decision if Williams had stayed on his feet. I'm guessing Eubank has hand problems or didn't he have some elbow surgery a while back?

The actual BBBoC rules don't mention it automatically becoming a 10-8 round though (unless they've changed) but everyone seems to scores it that way, where it falls down is if Williams was winning 10-9 and knocked Eubank down it wouldn't be scored 10-7, he would only get an extra point for the knockdown so 10-8, whereas Eubank is being credited three points for losing a round but scoring a knockdown.

Dunno. He was postering with his chin up and shipping right hands because of it. Williams probably didn’t have the power, nor showed the timing to severely hurt Eubank but you never know and that was a stupid thing to be doing in a ring imo.

Well put. I agree with your argument.
