Froch will stop Bute. That would advance him, and while Kessler is a tough style matchup, he is easier to hit than Taylor. His career is in a void. The Dane was 1 of my fave fighters. BUT, despite being made #1 at 168 by default, he's done nowt allowing guys like Froch to make their names.

All this about Joe being vastly superior, I don't buy it. You can LOOK superior when you are protected and take every fight with a built in advantage.

OK Froch almost lost to JT. Calzaghe almost lost to R Reid. Bring Joe down a notch, eh?

im`e probably talking through my wallet but froch is still an average fighter,he`s too slow with that mental habit of keeping his hands low,10 seconds later and you`de all be agreeing with me,he was schooled out there,he won`t last six rounds with kessler, pavlik, abraham, bute or anyone of that class, joe come out of retirement and spank his arse

He didn't nearly lose against Reid.

if he wouldn't last with those, how on earth did he beat taylor then?

don't forget: bute was basically stopped at the end by andrade, a guy without froch's ability

and: calzaghe came as close to losing vs hopkins, as froch did to taylor, a guy twice beaten by taylor.

Jean Pascal and Jermain Taylor brought their absolute A-game and had plenty of success, but they were beaten up and KO'd respectively.

I don't see any like for like names on Kessler's or Bute's records to suggest they would beat Froch, especially as convincingly as some seem to think.

For me, Bute and especially Kessler need to turn it up a notch. Zuniga is a bum and hardly a legend killer and Kessler's run of opponents is a disgrace post-Calzaghe years ago.

People regards boxers as top trumps - rating their speed etc. But in realisty it's they are a made of thats the difference. I believe Kessler possibly had it, but Bute does not.

People need to understand that every opponent Froch faces gets their share of shots off during the fight. Even Dodson can claim the first round against him.

Froch will be a harder man to beat after last night and dare i say this, more confident, following going to America on big time TV against a big time American name.

Apart from the asshole that is Edison Miranda, the only guy to throw his name into the hat for a fight is Allan Green, but I think Froch is a bit past the Green's of the world now.

I'd like to see a ranked WBC top 10 opponent defence in Nottingham, whilst Bute fights Allan Green and then they both fight each other Stateside late this year.

I give Froch all the credit in the world (read my preview on BBN to see what I said, I praise Froch quite a lot, attitude, balls etc etc).

My point (apologies for the 'you talk shite' remark) was that surely a guy who essentially outclasses someone then gets KO'd in the last round deserves a rematch???

I stand by what I say in terms of Froch' ability - many people on here are praising him to the hilt and are using Calzaghe as a comparison to big up Froch so surely an alternative viewpoint is ok as well?

Kessler - wins a wide UD against Froch punctuated by a 2/3 KD's.
Bute - ok maybe I went overboard there, close fight though

Calzaghe - would do a Lacy on Froch, too fast, and Carl is too slow

I agree, Bute was made to look good after falling apart v Andrade, when they brought in lil' Zuniga.

What about Andre Ward, for Froch? If Ward beats Miranda, you reckon that will happen?

I honestly believe they will get Bute.

Although from Romania he resides in Canada and Hennessy has some very useful connections in that country and the fight could be hyped up into being quite a big un - although in reality Bute could be viewed as one of the easier voluntary defences!!!

The only way I see him getting Bute is by going over there, Bute won't bring his precious title over here when he can make a fortune beating the likes of Joppy and Zuniga.

It would, and Bute is a very good boxer. I often see flashes of Calzaghe in him, but Bute doesn't appear to have the hand problems and can really punch! Though his stamina/chin may be a little suspect. Overall, a very, very tough fight for Froch. I'd rather see Froch have an easier fight to give his body some more rest.

Does anyone know what way the judges had the cards ? I know taylor was up , but by the end of the 12th which would have been a 10-8 rd to froch would froch have won? I didid predict a close points with taylor to win and i wouldnt say i was far off, there was times in the 12th that i thought taylor was going to hang on . Thank fornicate he didnt

They flashed the cards up that the judges had after the 11th round. Two scorecards were 106-102 in favour of Taylor, one was 106-102 in favour of Froch.

So even with a 10-8 final round Froch would have lost the fight on a split decision, as the scores would then have been
114-112 Taylor,
114-112 Taylor
116-110 Froch

is Froch so on top of his game.......

that he has the confidence to KNOW he can knock someone out when he needs to?

1 thing really surprised me about last night, the fact that taylor put froch down. I mean this is a guy who took bone shakers from paschal and even a stunner from robin reid, and barely flinched.

I honestly thought the only person capable of doing this would be kessler. NOW, on the flip side the cobra has once again called his timing to perfection by koing taylor while behind.

He has done this before, bided his time and then unleashes powerful shots that just seem to break people down.

So my question is.. do you think this is a deliberate part of his fight strategy?

I think he knows he will be outboxed by the box-fighters out there, but he always has this in reserve.

I think if he fought Kessler Kessler would outbox him and wouldnt get caught with his big punches but ye its a great weapon to have in reserve a KO punch but i dont think he will beat Kessler if it were to happen

I think Kessler is actually quite easy to hit. Authoritative, strong boxer. If you have the reach you can tag him. But there were signs of fade vs Calzaghe. Maybe it's just speed that offsets him, fluidity and speed. Don't forget, Kessler having promotional disputes, and these kind of thing can always affect a fighter's boxing.

IMO kessler won't be as elusive as Taylor.

Methinks Froch will go for Bute, Ward, Pavlik.

Bute has all the right moves, nice boxer, good power.

However I saw signs of "dog" in him, vs Bika. Bute was timid and unimpressive when Bika wanged his crazy shots at him. Signs of panic there. And the controversial win over Andrade, when the ref gave Bute a long count allowing Bute to surivive. IMO Bute looks great if you get him the right foe (Berrio, Zuniga) but despite his nice tools I think his toughness is suspect.

Bute would probably hurt Froch early and outbox him, BUT I believe Froch would catch up and score another memorable win.

Froch had both feet stuck together and ducked straight onto an overhand right, which landed square onto his forehead.

He was clobbered over more than anything and you can see from his eyes he was fine with it.

When Pavlik was put down he was lucky he didn't get stopped.

Taylor can punch and fight, it was his reluctance to trade during his middleweight reign which earned him negative press. But when he has to, he certainly can.

Yeah Im watching last nights fight now and I dont think the early rounds were quite as bad as I thought they were listening to it on the radio. I thought the ring side scorers were kind to Taylor after four with 40-35 and 2 39-36 scores.

It must have been very intimidating for Taylor to land a huge right on Carl in the third and then have him just smile and nod, then stick him on his backside but then have Carl still coming at you at the end of the third and throughout the 4th (I think Carl deserved a share of the 4th as Taylor only worked in very short spurts.)

I don't think Bute is as good a boxer as Taylor therefore Froch may be able to be closer going into the late fight, but then Bute in my opinion has better power and I think with his extra size mean he will be able to take a shot better, I think his late collapse against Andrade was due to exhaustion rather than a poor chin.

It will be interesting to see Bute's next few fights.
