As has been said above, all the monkey did was join the majority of pundits in picking the favourite. Why did he have to sound so insufferably smug about it? And trotting out platitudes like "speed kills" is not a substitute for proper analysis. If "speed kills" then why did the slower Froch decapitate Taylor? "Speed kills" tells us nothing.

I remember him blathering on and on about how Foreman could be killed by Holyfield - just fearmongering nonsense. When he gets a prediction wrong he should be hauled back into the studio to have his nose rubbed in it, not just brought in to crow on the rare occasion he gets one right.

If you really want to wince, try listening to his commentary for Tyson Douglas and hear him banging on about how he always knew Tyson was a hype job. He spends most of the fight talking about Ali and James J Braddock. Absolute clown.

Remember though, Hart is "The Voice of Boxing" and according to The Sun he is the World`s leading expert on boxing.

What a heap of shit.

He's just an old pudendum who's been around for that long he thinks he knows it all and does fornicate all to back it up. He's our version of Bert Sugar.

Set in his ways, smug, everything was better 50 years ago....etc etc.

Can't stand the guy. I remember when he was hanging around Lewis like a bad smell pre-Holyfield.

Watching him asking questions made my skin crawl.....it seemed the same for Lennox.

You think Hatton didn't avoid Witter because he fought PBF and Pacman. Could you think about your comments before posting mate. Cheers.

He is clearly being ironic you daft sod! Take your own advice :TU:

i'm not even saying i like the guy, i know he can be a right pain in the arse, and the way he was all over lennox wanting to know where he was training, what hotel he was staying at after years of criticism was funny to see, if i was lennox, i would personally tell him to fornicate off. some posters on here though are moaning about his pick on the pac fight. at the end of the day what he said was true, it was pac's speed that caused the most problems for hatton, he couldn't deal with the speed, added with power it was just too much. you can't really compare pac's speed to taylor, if taylor had pac's sort of speed then froch wouldn't of finished the fight, even taylor's speed and boxing ability in the early rounds was giving froch too much trouble, but froch worked at it like a warrior, and taylor slowed down in the later rounds, and that's when froch came on strong, but the speed did give froch problems, speed always does. you need more than just speed, but phenomenal speed is a right bastard to deal with.

that's right champ. :TU:

pac was fast in those lower weights.

it's only being heightened now he's up in the heavier divisions.

especially against a style like hatton's.

it always looked a bad styles match for ricky.

wasn't happy when they got the negotiations together again.

i remember getting criticism from a few on here when i applauded the collapse of negotiations. :D

Whenever I see Hart he usually draws back to his favourite era of Hearns, Hagler, Leonard or even Ali and has little to offer with regards to modern boxing.

sky can't do boxing - yet they have the cheak to charge extra on top!! It's the same with Setanta and football. Sky's football coverage pissus all over Setanta - but Setanta are the best foe boxing.

Buncey is a legend and tells it how it is - Hart still thinks it's 1969 and Ali et al are on top.

Another annoying thing - sky never promote any sporting event they aren't televising. Where as Setanta bring you the latest in sports update - not what they are or aren't showing.

(don't believe me? Watch Sky sports coverage of the champions league semi-finals. Hours dedicated to the game they are covering - minutes to the one on 'free' TV) - same with boxing. It'll be interesting to see their coverage of David Haye. A Brit fighting for the Heavyweight Championship of the World (well, part of it) should be headline news for a sports channel. Bet sky won't big it up though :box:

Here are Colin's latest thought's on Hatton from his column in The Sun.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... 415630.ece

By COLIN HART

Published: Today

RICKY HATTON should be forced to watch himself being KO’d by Manny Pacquiao every day before deciding whether he will fight again.
The X-rated video will provide all the evidence he needs to help him make up his mind that his boxing career is over.

Hatton should also be made to study the haunting pictures of his traumatised fiancée Jennifer Dooley at the Las Vegas ringside.

Seeing her pretty face screwed up in a mixture of terror and anguish as she saw him lying comatose on the canvas should make him focus on doing the right thing.

And that’s retire while he’s healthy and can enjoy his millions, happy in the knowledge he has earned a place in boxing’s Hall of Fame.

Because if he should take another blow to the head as severe as the one landed by Pacquiao, he may not get away with it.

I was in the Sky Studios commentating on the action with ex-champs Johnny Nelson and Nicky Piper and we feared the worst.

As the medics worked frantically to bring him around for several dreadful seconds that seemed an eternity, we thought we were staring at a corpse — it was that scary.

I’ve seen many similar devastating one-punch knockouts. Sugar Ray Leonard poleaxing Dave ‘Boy’ Green, Julian Jackson dropping Herol Graham as if he’d been shot and Wilfred Benitez turning the lights out on Maurice Hope were equally frightening.

After suffering such concussive blows Green, Graham and Hope were never the same fighters again.

Hatton being bombed out by Pacquiao was no surprise to me — I’d forecast it repeatedly. Twelve months ago, this column appeared under the headline ‘Quit Now Ricky’.

It was based on what I had seen when Ricky struggled to outpoint journeyman Juan Lazcano in front of more than 50,000 of his ecstatic fans at Manchester City’s ground.

The many flaws that had developed were glaringly obvious that night as Lazcano, a feather-duster puncher, came close to putting him on the floor three times.

Five months earlier, in December 2007, Hatton had been outclassed and demolished by Floyd Mayweather Jnr.

I wrote: “Hatton’s punch resistance has gone, along with much of his timing and reflexes.”

I put that down to his binge-drinking and junk-food diet, which causes him to balloon three to four stones above his fighting weight.

The sycophants and cheerleaders who surround Hatton won’t thank me for saying he has been in a steady decline since he peaked when beating Kostya Tszyu in June 2005.

Remember, in December Pacquiao battered Oscar De La Hoya non-stop for eight rounds yet couldn’t put him down once. And Oscar was drained making the welterweight limit.

By contrast, the magical Manny put Hatton on the deck three times in six minutes.

Every ex-fighter I’ve spoken to this week, from Barry McGuigan to Green, wants Ricky to hang up his gloves immediately.

His dad, Ray, says he isn’t going to pressure him as he must make up his own mind.

But his entire family should be begging Ricky to forget about climbing through the ropes again because of the risk he’d be taking.

If Ricky signs a contract for another fight he could be writing a suicide note.

gotta agree with mostly all of that. it was a very scary knockout, and i was fearing the worst. hatton's achieved everything he's wanted to do except becoming p4p number one, which he's never going to do unless he wants to get knocked out again, and this time he might not be getting up. scary thought i know, but it could happen with the amount of clean shots hatton has took over the years.

"The many flaws that had developed were glaringly obvious that night as Lazcano, a feather-duster puncher, came close to putting him on the floor three times."

Evidence of Harts lack of knowledge, how the eff is Lazcano a feather-duster puncher when he has 27 early wins from 37 victories?

:KO:

Hart's an idiot. who the hell has ever been killed by being knocked out in the second round. Its long punishing fights were usually someone gets a blood clot or something, sometimes you don't even have to be knocked out, its been known to win a fight on points and get a bloodclot on the brain. early blowouts always look far worse than they really are.

To be fair, Hatton got caught more in the two rounds he was in there than the majority of fighters do in 12 rounds of most other title fights.
The fact Hatton has been quoted in the press saying the punch that knocked him out was the first he had really been caught with in the fight backs up most of what Hart is saying.
I've got to agree with Hart, hang the gloves up Ricky.

Not saying hatton shoudnt retire but all this bullshit about how Ricky looked like he was dead or if he carries on he might be killed is utter bullshit and something an ignorant non boxing person would say
"der I thought Ricky was dead when he went down derdum"
"fornicate off ya moron he just got knocked out badly thats all"

Only thing that might be damaged from the Pac fight for Hatton is his punch resistance if he carries on. bit like Vargas after Trinidad got through with him.
